The old deathmatch surf servers used to be more fun than they had any right to be.
So did the Minigames servers, but they're all dead now.
Every bit of it, from 1. Leafy popularizing CS:GO skill surf, and 2. Valve fucking up their games beyond repair

What's a good game to get started on surfing and going fast

Surf in CS:GO feels so fucking sterile and joyless. Same as TF2, don't know why though.

Really though, Leafy was really just the nail in the coffin at that point, though.
The flood of shitty maps being ported directly from 1.6 and not changing anything to make them work in CSGO, as well as the dying userbase of previous games was choking any people left willing to play. Coupple that with GO killing any possibility for multigame in the start with it's shitty map system, there was almost no chance that surf and minigame had left.

The reason might be because the producers of the maps aren't interested in making new content, they would rather rehash the same shit from 1.6 over and over again, or make the 50000th "skill surf" map that looks the same as the last 20.
Another problem is using deathmatch maps for skill surf, which only comes off as lazy as fuck, but mostly it's valve being fucking retards and killing their games.
