Openspades has multiple graphics updates that make the game look sleeker and shit, but with a game like this having it be so rough is one of the reasons why it's good. Other than this the game is just uncomfy, you can't even really trench or build shit because of this simple change.

Quite honestly the early versions were the best; no autoclimb, no smg, and you can fool your brain into thinking you're drunk just by looking at the ground. The only downside to them is there's no way to ban griefers/hackers

It's possible to hack 0.52 into working and remove autoclimb (Holla Forums did it once) but it really limits server options and no ability to edit other weapons.

Yes and no. For us we play 0.45 but the dev heard the call of money and now there a few different games with the same premise. There's a AoS run by Mojang i believe and a few knock offs but they're pretty terrible and don't really capture the same feel of 0.45. I think there's a steam group for 0.45 but i don't know for sure. A Discord for AoS might be good but >discord

It makes hills just like any other terrain, glorified flat ground. There's no reason to dig tunnels (other than stealth) or create bridges and passageways if you can just autoclimb through every single little bump and elevation change. It makes natural higher ground, that isn't made into a thick wall on one side, a liability rather than an advantage.

While personally, I like the SMG, the autoclimb aspect ruined things. It turned every hill into a trenchline facing you what never actually slowed the enemy down. Being on the top of a hill ought to be an advantage. Instead it was to your detriment, as that's where the enemy has the most cover.
