So, I just downloaded Fallout: NV and apparently the game has some mods that are "necessary" for the full Fallout experience. I know I've seen a couple of lists picture on Holla Forums about the subject and I kick myself for not saving them.
Unofficial patch should be enough. Jsawyer if you want some rebalancing without changing it too much. Just search for the most endorsed in every category on nexusmods you lazy fuck.
Cameron White
But seriously it doesnt need a lot of mods. It's just that there are so many you can replay it with them and play a different game. Latest unnoficial patch and script extender, maybe some graphics mods if you can handle it
There was one mod that added helmets in first person and lots of fo1 items but I cant remember
Christopher Rogers
Is it first time playing? Then no there aren't any necessary mods, like Wesp's for VtM:B. Just play it for a while and mod it according to your tastes
Julian Parker
/thread
I doubt that seeing how we had this exact thread up for most of April
Anthony Gonzalez
Yeah, You guys won't accept this but none of the Fallouts need mods to play through the first time at all period end of story.
Kayden Gonzalez
I'm playing New Vegas for the first time since I beat it the week after it came out and I want to mod it to hell.
Basically I want it to be /k/ as fuck. I want gun porn and more deadly combat. I want to have to play it like I play S.T.A.L.K.E.R.โ sneaking around, making liberal use of cover, grenades, and headshots, because one slip will get me fucked up.
What mods am I looking at?
Benjamin Brooks
For a first time playthrough the unofficial patch and a mod to sprinkle the pre-order DLC content through the game world instead of dump it on you at the start should be enough (I forget if the unofficial patch does that already, you can alternatively just disable the pre-order DLC).
Chase Myers
Really you should play New Vegas vanilla before mods. Mods that are necessary for vanilla experienece would be the 4gig patch, anti-crash, anti-stutter, outside bets, freeside open, the Strip open and one of the unofficial patches.
If you do however want an "enhanced" experience then I'd recommend New Vegas Redesigned.
Asher Wilson
Realistic weapon damage, enemies carry ammo, and invisible wall remover do the trick very much fine, along with what said
Andrew Brooks
If it's your first time, play the vanila game you cuck. Always save mods for the second playthrough
Kevin Scott
Project Nevada is something I always recommend, even for vanilla, if only because of the gameplay improvements it offers. I'd turn off some of the more retarded features and tweak damage values to your liking, but hte ability to sprint and toss grenade via hotkey impvoe the game vastly.
Aside from that, toss in Someguy's quest mods. They're all fairly excellent and add a lot of content to the game that fits in with vanilla just fine. Then the aforementioned patches and some enhanced visuals, pick those out on your own.
There ya go, anything else should be added at your discretion.
Blake Ortiz
That's how you get shit like awop and anime costumes, also your game will crash. search "fnv step" on google and hit the first result.
Liam Phillips
Who gives a shit? You can filter anime content out of a search with literally one click
Blake Young
You're fucking retarded for believing this. Even Fallout 1 and 2 need "mods" in the form of unofficial patches to fix a lot of script bugs and crash events. Lesser so for New Vegas, but a lot of the mods make the game less irritating, like the one that removes invisible walls. No more having to detour two miles around a 3 foot tall ledge.
Anime content is automatically disabled in Nexus because weebs are scum and they know weebs are scum.
John Cruz
Well, i like things like guns with proper names, things that alter effects for drugs, more drugs, cigars and cigarettes, etc. Small details.
Aaron Watson
It's weird how nobody's telling you about the mods that do those sorts of thingsโฆ almost like you can find almost all of that by not being lazy and just using the search function on the nexus like the rest of us.
Kayden Williams
I'm not asking for anything, just saying what kind of mods i like. I installed a lot of those which i can't bother to remember now since being sometime since i last played New Vegas.
Aiden Long
Absolutely necessary mods: - Fallout Character Overhaul: Fixes the ugly ass Bethesda faces - NVAC: Fixes a lot of crashes caused by Bethesda's pajeetcode - Weapon Retexture Project: Reskins the muddy/dark and otherwise ugly textures guns use - Weapon Mods Expanded: Greatly improves and extends the mechanics for weapon mods - New Vegas Enhanced Camera: Fixes the idiotic "pair of floating arms" shit in FPV
For everything else that doesn't just fix existing problems in the game search "most endorsed" and you'll find good stuff.
Your image is correct but you're a fucking idiot if you think vanilla is "just fine".
Logan Smith
I play it vanilla all the time. There's nothing major that desperately requires mods.
Ethan Martin
AWOP works fine with rebalance patches or personal tweaks. the amount of content it adds is nice most of the downside I hear from it is "bullet sponge enemies."

Here's my load order
Mason Gonzalez
it'll still crash without mods, the mods will just make the crashes more predictable if anything
Christian Roberts
Just get some patches, maybe some texture mods and Character Overhaul, and Enhanced Camera. Play the game vanilla and then mod it once you beat it, or if you get bored and don't finish it.
It's buggy as shit and runs on an terrible fucking engine but it is genuinely one of the greatest CRPGs ever made. One of the last AAA titles to retain old school design philosophies. It is the true sequel to Fallout 2. It's actually pretty sad how many cRPG fans skipped out on this one thinking it was just like Fallout 3/4.

Why would someone burn a man before throwing him off a dam?
Luis Murphy
Honestly just like play Fallout 1 and 2 instead. New Vegas was like Neverwinter Nights to Baldur's Gate.
Blake Phillips
At least you can reply. What mods do you recommend?
Jackson White
The only three I remember as ((must haves)) are as follow: smokeable cigarettes with the optional retexture and carton/pack mechanics, pipboy readius or whatever it's called replacer for the default glovecancer and that one quest chain where you start up your own bordello. Some current year texture and lighting mods are also probably a good idea.
Now tell me about Graham, why does he wear a mask?

Just use the step wiki. And check files of the month on the nexus.
Aiden Morales
Has anyine noticed that Sunny Smiles wants you to kill everyone inside the bar "by accident"? Think about it, the bar has wooden walls, she gives you a decent rifle and makes you shoot bottles with the bar behind them.
Noah Kelly
Was she supposed to be a companion or something? I feel like she had a lot of character for a one and done npc.
Dominic Brooks
Probably, there's a lot of content that was cut before the release, and as always happens with bethesda games, mods fix the problem.
Christian Peterson
It's not necessary, but it'd probably be a good idea to check out the multiplayer project. nv-mp.com/forum/index.php
