I think I'd be okay with that on some level. Squeenix putting money on another Taro game was a huge risk considering his games haven't generally been huge money earners. You won't see any fists until you get to the forest, which is where you'll be going next. The first one you can get is Virtuous Grief. Vid to show you where it is since it's a bit of a pain to explain, minor area spoilers. You can also get Angel's Folly from Emil's shop if you stop him in front of the Resistance camp, but he doesn't start appearing until after you go to the forest.

After you give him like 100k total he asks for another 100k at once. Then the quest is cleared.

You need to give him 80,000 total then 100,000 in one payment, for 180,000 total. Unlocks a shop that sells meteorite shards, so it's eventually useful but not really worth doing right when the quest unlocks.

If you have watched Puella Magi Madoka Magica, you may recognize (or not, I didn't) the singer in the songs. She sang many vocal tracks for the show, notably sis puella magica and pugna cum maga. Eri Itoh has a remarkable range. Ar Nosurge does have very nice music. If you like rail shooters or "milestone" sort of RPGs or games, I'd recommend the series strongly to you. Having Nier:Automata being greelight by SE is a miracle itself since SE obviously hated the series low sales numbers. The only person that help Yoko Taro from getting the boot is the producer Yosuke Saito. You can see that they're both actually good friend in the most interview.

Start the stamp quest by talking to a machine near the entrance. While you're in that area in the webm you should also head right as you go in and take the elevator down to get another stamp.

That's the nice thing I appreciated in the first Nier. Sidequests are normally 'filler' in other games, with some shit about some guy needing 5 items for a fetch quest but you never know why and once you deliver you get a cookie-cutter 'thanks' and a reward. Here it's the same thing, but there's actually a story behind all of it, instead of just needing them 'because'. Quests that had banter between Nier and Weiss were also a nice touch.
Memorable ones were the Yonah cooking events (poor Nier), the old lady from the lighthouse, the dog and his owner, and the Aerie deliveries. Also, for all the wrong reasons, Life in the Sands. Fuuuuuuuuuuck this quest.

Then the PC release turned out to be not a false flag but was suddenly 2 weeks away so I stopped playing and preordered it on Greenmangoyming for a lowish price out of my own money this time. So I bought the game twice and got goy'd by the double dip hidden PC release to maximise their profits. Rarely buy games these days, especially brand new full price ones that I can't resell. The best thing about this game is that it absolutely didn't betray it's niche roots.
Taro soaked every square inch of this thing with his man juice, it's still as raw, experimental and bizzarre as ever.

The worst thing about this game is that it's exactly as obtuse and still contains some elements that many people will find boring (the sidequests, to name one).

It's just Nier 2, with really good combat.
Wich you might think it's expected, except it really isn't.
I was 100% sure this was just going to be Bayo/MGR/Nier with about 40% being Nier.
Instead it's 90% Nier, 10% PG influences.

This means that people that aren't familiar with Nier will react to it more or less the same way they would've reacted when picking up the first game out of nowhere.
This also means once the PC version is released the amount of bitching from clueless mustards will be absolutely IMMENSE about all the elements they're completely unfamiliar with.

I can't decide if this is a good or a bad thing overall.
It's an excellent outcome for Nier fans, but not quite the "streamlined experience" for everyone else.
Is it good when a game stays for the most part true to it's niche, even tho it's advertised as a AAA dudebro "everyone can get into this" kinda game?
Hell, it even requires multiple playtroughs to be fully appreciate, so that means Holla Forumstards that have the attention span of goldfishes and the average jock out there that plays games a single time and then moves on, are getting fucked.

I think the turnabout will come depending on how the old fans deal with the new fans. Old fans who help them see the fun-poking at JRPG and video game conventions, and the meaning behind a lot of what the story is trying to tell them, might be able to convince some of the more intelligent people, but I have a feeling that a lot of people who come in for the AAA action are going to feel disappointment because it is decidedly lighter than say Bayo/MGR. I know at least one big twitch streamer doesn't really like the game because it isn't another Souls game. The one thing that I think will work though is, a lot of JRPG fins will like it.

It's still going to sell well in the West, and I'm glad Taro stuck to his convictions. I'm sure it's selling like hotcakes in Japan, which will secure his place.
