I remember when I got this game. I had not idea wtf was going on because of the random voices going on during the intro. Like wtf these were voice clips from segments all over the story why in the fuck did they think that was a good idea? It didn't help my understand the situation at all.

Fallout 3 has the best intro I've ever seen in a video game to be perfectly honest. The score and sound design are perfect, that one take and mise en scene are very beautiful, objects that are shown work like a chorus in music, and the T51b in the end is a great touch. It's unironically kino.

No it's not. Fallout 3's intro has better cinematography, lighting, and composition. Also, the one-take sequence was done further and much more competently in FO3. Of course the idea and theme of the scene are similar to FO1, it's a sequel.

came here to post this. I'm a fan of orchestral music so when I first started Oblivion (I had no idea what Elder Scrolls was at the time, from the Shivering Isles flesh atronach on the back of the box I assumed at first it was a horror game) it blew me away.

Yeah I love the music too. It's such a shame that of all the playable content only 1/5th of it is any good. The music being so poor quality immediately detracts from the enjoyment of all chapters so only the best chapter (thomas) stands out as being acceptable.
