"Metro: Last Night Redux"-- thoughts on game please

Have been searching this for a few hours, and it looks pretty fucking good, unless I'm missing something major that went right over my head. In short– you are a sniper in Moscow in ~80 years from now in a post-Apocalyptic hell. Premise is perfectly believable and the thing looks pretty fucking good.

Anyone have it and can give any valid criticisms other than "you are a fag, the game looks like it sucks, you are a fag for wanting this game…" and the other strokes of genius that usually pass for high discussion on here. Interested in the 5-7 ppl who have actually played and their opinion.

you are a fag, the game looks like it sucks, you are a fag for wanting this game…

I think you should play it. Then get back to us.

All you fuckos always like authorities on vudya games. Often I post a game I know to be one of the best of the year just to confirm that no real serious people actually post here and I've only been proven incorrect on an issue (where someone actually knew something) twice.

I just don't get….the anonymity coupled with being able to changed your ID with he touch of a button, why still insist on being a lying scumbag? Well, whatever makes you happy fellows.

Really you should play the game and get back to us about the premise being believable.

Or you could just whine about how we won't spoonfeed you your opinion.

You type like a faggot.

lol nope
The game actively discourages you from having shootouts by penalizing your ending and giving you abysmally low ammo for guns. Its basically Call of Duty : Slav edition. Looks really good and is useful for benchmarks but beyond that play STALKER if you want real gameplay. I don't even remember any sniping in the games as there are barely any long ranged firefights. Most of the times those turn into janky stealth mission.

It's a fun S.T.A.L.K.E.R. "Lite", if you know what I mean. Play it, it's a generally fun gaem. If you really want to know more about it, use your Google-Fu, it's not hard to wiki it. Also, your knowledge on the game's premise is shit wrong.

metro 2033 is the superior gayme

Both games in the series are worth playing. Be sure to crank up the difficulty and enable Ranger mode to add some survival horror gameplay to the mix.

It definitely isn't a sniping game though, as most of the combat takes place in close quarters.

Both games are pretty enjoyable and offer a great setting for some comfy moments.
They can be wonky in terms of stability and suffer from a morale system that depending on your playstyle restrict your choice of actions in the end Not that that really matters anyway.
I recommend going for the hardest difficulty from the get go.
It's the only modern shooter I know that (on the highest difficulty) will allow you to mess up so bad that you can ruin your savegame.

Extremely close quarters, I almost always have some form of shotgun on me.

Metro 2033 was great. Metro Last Light had crappy console graphics, redid all the characters' appearance so instead of haggard slavs they look like American action heroes, the "moral" system is bad compared to the first, the whole story feels way too film-like and fantastic and lost the subtle vidya quality.

Get 2033, enjoy it, there was never a sequel.

...

Do you even cheeki breeki?

Hell yeah

I didn't like it, the controls were all kinds of fucked compared to the original and it didn't run great either. I disliked that the knife became just a quick melee button instead of an equippable weapon and that throwing weapons like knives and grenades all got mapped to a directional thing to be quickthrown and the UI to choose them didn't show up in Ranger (HUD-less) mode so you couldn't ever see how many you had left or which you had equipped. Sucked to ruin stealth by accidentally tossing a grenade instead of a throwing knife because you couldn't check what you had equipped.

you are a fag, the game looks like it sucks, you are a fag for wanting this game…

the original 2033 has a better and more advanced lighting system. They nerfed the lighting in the Redux remaster so that it could run at 60fps on consoles.

It's a stalker game with long corridors.

What? What the hell have you been looking at that you think you're a sniper? Most of the game is set in subway networks and maintenance tunnels. I mean there is a sniper rifle in it but it is certainly not a sniper game if that's what you're thinking. Most of the game is best spent using an assault rifle or shotgun.

If it not being a sniper game doesn't make you not want to play it, then play it. It's a good game, if the redux versions did ruin the graphics a little.

Holy shit you faggot.

You really need to try harder to fit in. I can't even take this as bait, you're just too fucking new to know how to construct bait.

LL was a cawadooty version. 2033 was much better in that you were specifically told not to go starting shit.
I had a chuckle, then despaired, when the Redux of 2033 had an option to make the game more like LL and outright stated that meant more guns were involved.

OP GO SUCK A BAG OF DICKS YOU FAGGOT
THEN LURK MOAR AND TRY TO FIT IN

The original 2033 was really fucking great, minus a single really awful escort mission near the end. Last light is alright, but it's basically the same game with a way more generic and boring story (and also tits). I haven't played Redux mostly because I'm worried that they probably changed certain graphical effects to make things "better," at the cost of being way less spooky. Also, Artym's voice is better in 2033, which was also apparently changed with redux the generic bleach gargler from LL.

The novel wasn't even good to begin with and the author is a bit of a fag, so I wouldn't say that the games "raped" anything. But I do agree that Last Light is shittier in every aspect.

No redux fucked the 2033 gameplay too even in ranger mode (spartan mode is straight up CoD), at least they fixed not having a way at all to see how much ammo you have left and what secondary you have on on ranger hardcore in Last Light Redux

2033 is better than LL, redux versions of both (re-released with 'improved' graphics and AI) are poor.

2033's problem was actually fighting mutants was largely shit exception for the Librarians. Sections where they were chasing you or they were hinted at following you were fine, fighting them was bland bullet-sponge shit.

Dear diary, today Holla Forums wasn't shit.

The last stand/defend the station was pretty fun.

...

Is that the one when they're climbing on the walls too? I suppose that worked quite well though I remember it dragging a bit on a replay when you know how it plays out.

They are not bullet-sponges in ranger mode

I think it's pretty good.

Is it just me or is this the same OP who made thay Vive thread? His posting style seems off and I can't put my finger on why

I've played ranger mode (in fact I would not recommend playing without it), it was not much more satisfying. For what it's worth STALKER and many other games have this problem: animals are either too easy to kill or unrealistically tough. Giving them special attacks other than 'run at and hit in melee' helps but it alone won't fix it.

I believe so but it's been awhile.

They're not sponges in regular when you use a helsing or a silenced bastard. A couple of well placed bullets or a overpressured bolt dropped anything short of a deamon, including the snazi armored stormtroopers.

I think there is a set of dlc missions, one where you play as a sniper, and another where you play as a nazi with a minigun.

OP you write like a faggot but the game is really good.
I mean it's CoD tier in its gameplay at most times, but the atmosphere, the difficulty and just the attention to detail in small things in a single player shooter is something you almost never see today.

Worth playing

Don't want to have too much fun, now do we?

Being sneaki breeki in this game is hilarious you never have to shoot your gun and just use throwing knives and backstabs
still a fun game, the revolver with stock is breddy cool too

Metro 2033 original version is the only acceptable Metro, the enemies are fucking blind and deaf in all subsequent versions making stealth a cake walk. 2033 is the closest game I've found that gives me the "feel" of system shock 2.

NO
The redux versions are total shit, play Metro 2033 original if you want the best Metro game.
2033 > LL Redux > LL > 2033 Redux
Only good thing about Last Light are the titties.

its shit

I beat that part on my first try on hardest. Did they fix it in Redux?

...

Compare Witcher 3 to any recent Western RPG.

LL is pretty good in a lot of ways that 2033 didn't get to. I remember LL a lot better than 2033 and honestly don't get the circlejerk for it. 2033 was very hokey and despite its capabilities, it's akin to a tech demo and for that its impressive but also makes it a pain. The remaster amplifies its problems and limited design scope (in a relative sense) and I think that took a lot of people by surprise. This does not in any way compliment LL either but I think the real problem is that both games are a mixed bag.

I feel like LL is at its best trying out the new things that 2033 didn't come close to and in that regard is inferior to the STALKER-lite areas where 2033 shined. LL sacrifices a lot of that and focuses on the politics and motivations of the various characters and factions. 2033 only gave a glimpse of that. Yes it's true that the stealth is not as great as in 2033 and is overall easier. But the combat in 2033 was also terrible and I think there is a reason for that which I will get back to. Areas were either super easy or super difficult.

Calling the action in LL CoD is really unfair. Guns in CoD have no bite and no feel to them. There is no such thing as a satisfying kill in CoD. I really enjoyed the action in LL, especially the revolver and rifles and exotic weapons. The weapons feel extremely final whenever you shoot someone and the AI is almost F.E.A.R-tier. I think the real problem is that the devs want gunplay that is exciting but they also want to make it feel gritty and rugged. I think they need to choose one or make the difficulty options much more decisive, say, choosing ranger mode makes most guns one-shot-kill and deselecting it makes it like it is LL. Meanwhile the action in 2033 is almost nonexistent and so making it focus on stealth made perfect sense since at worst the gunplay is lousy. In fact, the 2033 remaster tries to do both and almost succeeds.

I think the last great point for LL is that it introduced a lot of surreal elements and added just the right amount of psychological and supernatural horrors. 2033 had a few moments like this but LL made that a consistent theme. Most of the best moments and areas of the game come right out of this.

I'll reiterate both games are a mixed bag but the 2033 hardon is just silly at times. It's borderline overrated from all of the people glorifying it. LL isn't the perfect sequel but it gets close. I recommend the pre-redux version if you can get it. Good luck getting pre-redux 2033 to run.
