Amazing mods

Hooooly shit, this was a completely mind-blowing experience. Autumn Leaves is a mod for Fallout: New Vegas that made me sit down and finish the entire thing from start to finish. The story is marvelous, the twist is pretty neat, the atmosphere is fantastic, the characters are written very well (Rolland and Edgard are two of the funniest motherfuckers I have ever seen in a videogame" and it was so good that Bethesda actually stole from it completely and used it for a mission called "Brain Dead" in Fallout 4, citing that "they own all content produced in the G.E.C.K. system."

Do you guys have any other mods that are pro-quality, amazing additions to the games they are for? I am so pumped after playing this to try more, god damn that was good.

It's shit then.

There is a murder mystery? I actually didn't have to use my gun one time when I played through it, but you do have the option to fuck everything up whenever you want. You have to have an intense standoff (and I mean intense) with the culprit after you find out who they are in order for shit not to go down badly.

What kind of mongoloid are you anyway where you have to be told what kind of gameplay New Vegas has? I knew Holla Forums was shit at games, but damn my dude.

LOL

Here, have some top-tier overhaul mods.

Median XL
They Hunger Trilogy
Cry of Fear
Nightmare House 2
Black Mesa

I can't really think of any other mods in the same style as Autumn leaves, which is pretty much a non-violent murder-mystery.
Most mods are just shooty killquests.
Of the shooty killquests i can definitely recommend Someguy200s modseries.Bouth New Vegas Bounties and his other stuff.
He is pretty unique for having an entire series of mods that are connected to each other. So NPCs from one mod comment on your decision you made in a different mod, his companion will have unique comments on persons and events in his mods and so on.

Thank you guys. I am reading through Someguys' descriptions and I like his sense of humor. I think I will give his stuff a try.

If you decide to play Vegas Bounties, don't be immediately turned off by Bounties 1, which was someguys first mod and is really nothing more than a list of killquests.
He got a lot better later and your decisions in Bounties 1 impact later mods.

isnt that the mod they copied for one of fo4's dlcs?

Really? Huh. Guess I'll give it another shot because I uninstalled it after like 3 quests because I hated it

Nice dubs Hitler but I think you may be fibbing. Story only detracts from good video games and the core mechanics of Fallout NV are garbage. Your reaction to this mod is irrational. Are you a woman? Because women are not known for rationality.
portalprelude.com/ is better then portal

Mount & Blade Warband has a lot of good overhaul mods. 1257 AD is my favourite, Brytenwalda is also good, and I've heard good things about the Gekokujo and south-eastern Asia ones.

Bounties 1 is kind of a slog but he got much better latter.
The Inheritance, Russel and New Vegas Killer are tons of fun.

Does anyone have a definitive modlist for New Vegas?
Extra points for making the game into a shitty, dusty, brutal as fuck world, where everyone goes down in one ot two bullets.

some others:

Eastern Sun is the closest you'll get to Diablo 2 expanded. Every skill in every tree is reworked to be at least useable and it has an encyclopedia's worth of character building options. It's a Japanese mod if the name didn't tip you off.

Battle for Elements is a Russian mod which is next to impossible when starting out. It's main feature is an endurance stat that decreases permanently whenever you die. Quest rewards are the only good gear you'll ever get and there's a built in plugY, so it's pretty obvious what the modder was going for.
Act 1 was changed from "go to the monastery" to "go to the bottom of every goddamn cave on the map and if you use the resulting item in the wrong place you have to do it all over again"
It's the only D2 mod that's actively being developed.

You could always try out DUST if you haven't already.

NEVER EVER.

You're abusing the NEVER EVER user

...

artificial difficulty + no story at all = NOTHING TO DO NOTHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO NOTHING TO PROGRESS TO

MXL: Sigma is being worked on.

I don't understand why people drool all over this mod it really isn't that good. It's starts off well with a nice creepy atmosphere and some good action segments, alot like FEAR. But after you go to the prison it just uses as many shitty action movie and horror tropes it can find. Long unnecessary stereotypical and cringey dialog separated by your typical survival horror zombie game. It had such a good structure in the beginning with figuring out subtle creepy things while you were at the house and then during the SWAT flashbacks having really good gunplay with minimal dialog and gameplay interruption. Its like the first part is a completely different game.

Imps More Complex Needs for Skyrim - I fucking love that one

It adds a "complex" system for food, drink and rest wich involves nutrition, protein, caffeine etc etc without going to autistic. Together with Frostfall it creates good immersion to actually be a living beeing in that environment.
Moral, Protein and co actually have an impact of how much you can carry, how hard you punch, regeneration and skill learning. It also gives incentive to not only eat and drink the same shit throughout the game.

I love it so much I can barely stand a RPG that has not a complex needs system. Even if there is hunger/thirst/rest, its always way to simple…
That mod actually ruined RPGs for me given point above

The prison was such a claustrophobic, samey looking labyrinth that was just no fun to traverse. I couldn't get out of it.
Really a shame because the first part was great, like you said.

I'll mention a few Morrowind mods since this is a game I revisit a lot.

MORROWIND REBIRTH
This fucking mod is a town expansion mod, additional dungeons mod, terrain improvement mod, mesh improvement mod, new weapons and armors mod, better interiors mod, rebalancing mod all into one. It's huge. It is actually kind of silly how much it adds. But it isn't compatible with a lot of house mods and things so there's issues alongside it. But the upsides are much bigger. Genuinely recommend it.

SOTHA SIL EXPANDED
This mod is insanity. It expands Sotha Sil's clockwork realm to insane proportions, adds new NPC's, new areas, new enemies, new puzzles and makes an area that was sort of short to a fuckhuge one.

DARKNUT'S DWEMER MODS
Darknut usually makes textures, model and mesh replacers but he does have a few unique mods. His Grater Dwemer mods are some of those. They redo 3 of the Dwemer locations in Red Mountain and make them a huge challenge and a huge overhaul from before. Very very good.

LGNPC
So this is a WIP mod. It has several packages of your choice. It adds unique dialog to as many of the NPC's in the game as it can. Some of the packages also add new quests to do. This isn't Skyrim. Some areas can have 50 or even more NPC's. There are tons of new dialog lines and it adds that little extra niceness if you want to just enjoy some interesting dialog and immersion.

Long as fuck, top tier animations from the same guy who did Insurgency ones, The House, inventory system.
Nice plot

Third age + divide and conquer for Medieval Total War. So much detail it's insane

Jagged Alliance 2's 1.13 mod was amazing for a while (shitloads of new guns, mercs from all expansions and more merc slots, lots of cleanup) but eventually its developers went way into the autistic weeds and away from what actually made JA2 fun to play.

I hope I still have my old notes saved somewhere of the right mod version to play and the settings to change to make it "big improvement" instead of "JA2 as autistic shootout simulation engine."

Avoid the HAM branches and you're golden.

Good taste

Bethesda has claimed all ownership since the Creation Kit for Morrowind came out. They just haven't enforced it much.

A NU CHEEKI BREEKI IV DAMKE

post load order

It's a mod for fallout new vegas. You already know about the gameplay.

But user you know he probably has a shitload of degenerate porn mods installed like all Bethesda modders at one point Like myself

I always have a fuckton of loverslab installed. Theres no way to play skyrim with outside a metric fuckton of lewd mods. Like skirts with physics and a thong underneath so the skirt moves around when running. on top of havoc on the butts and boobs too so they be a bouncing

I'm stuck with Oblivion because I run a toaster. Downloading a ton of Skyrim mods is my go to thing a soon as I get one. Problem is that I don't want to relearn how shit works again because I'm so used to using Wrye Bash.

So it's the same Bethesda garbage then? Why even play it then if it doesn't fix the game itself?

It's been so long since I played oblivion I can't remember if wrye bash works the same between games. As for skyrim its much simpler if you use mod organizer, you can literally uninstall anything if you install it through it with little to no trouble. Once you upgrade you'll be fine for modding. Just dont play vanilla skyrim ever. Its complete shit.

I pirated a while after it came out so I already know. Mainly i'm just intimidated by the sheer amount of mods I'll have to sort through. Even if there's a concrete list I'm not exactly the kind of person to dab in something like this. Before a month I'll probably have over 200 sex mods installed on it with a shitload of other stuff if Oblivion is anything to go by. Currently running 176 mods on Oblivion at once for the lewd shit alone. It's a fucking mess.

You do realize New Vegas was made by Obsidian and not Bethesda, right? Its why it is the only modern Fallout worth a shit.

Good taste OP, my favorite parts of the mod were

Arcane Dimensions for Quake. It adds a shitload of enemy variety, has really pretty levels, and the levels have some pretty top-tier design. The levels have a great emphasis on cool atmosphere/theme/visuals, while also integrating cool encounters and fights. It also adds a couple new weapons (triple barrel shotgun, plasma gun, new axe that gibs corpses) and powerups (sharp-shooter). A minor change I really like is that all shotguns shoot projectiles instead of straight hitscan. The current version is 1.5 so be sure to get that and not any of the earlier versions. This has more features/levels.

This mod pretty much solved all the original problems I had with Quake.

It plays exactly like Fallout 3. They changed nothing. It's still the same generic, garbage Bethesda gameplay but now you have super wacky Elvis impersonators too.

smh fam, but I consider actual skillchecks and factions and re-introducing traits to be pretty big improvements over ToddOut

Obligatory Enderal/Nehrim post

...

Ok Todd. Go back to your chessclub.

But is the actual gameplay changed? Combat's still shit. Stealth is garbage. There's no point using explosives because guns are much better for dispatching enemies. Survival is a pointless skill, even in hardcore. Crafting and reloading benches are useless. Mods remedy some of these issues, but I've yet to find one that truly fixes them. I have no gripes about story or setting in New Vegas, it's better than the other shitty FPS Fallouts, but the game is indeed a shitty FPS with RPG elements.

I hate Fallout 3 and 4 as much as I hate New Vegas.

Any news on chapter 2?

So don't play them.

Confirmed for not playing the NV. Those three skills give you access to the most overpowered shit in the game.

DUDE LOL WUT

Aren't More Complex Needs and Frostfall massive script slogs that you for sure break your game on the long run?

I couldn't get past the early game because of how boring it was. Maybe later on it gets more powerful, but early game is trash and boring.

That's odd, did you never find that really cool radiation pit with the doctor in it south of Goodsprings?
You never went through Black Mountain to get to HELIOS 1 at level 3?

frostfall isnt, not sure about the other one, there was a 'needs' mode that was notorious for being really popular and also a time bomb

someone made a tool for clearing up orphaned scripts as well

...

user they even have an option for people with ADD which allows you to go directly to Vegas if you git gud. Even so there's plenty of things around the map to explore

Frackin Universe for starbound

The main guy behind it was hospitalized by the religion of peace like three months ago, he needed a new kidney because one was damaged by the attack and the other one was found to be cancerous.

Please tell me that this is a shitty joke.

Do you want bad news or a lie?

I want the truth. But I also don't want to kill myself, so maybe you shouldn't tell me.

Well, I'll just post a cap from his blog. Read it or not, it's up to you.

On the subject of DUST, how's FROST? Is Fallout 4 finally getting beaten into shape enough by mechanical fixes that it's worth it as at least a half decent survivalism/frontiering/lite /k/ommando game? I'd like to set up a nice cabin/quonset hut somewhere with a little handloading station and hunt mutants in the snow, sift through the rubble. Something Call of Chernobyl like with more stringent survival and lonelier.

The only good mod is Onlink, which basically is the original game but much more fleshed out and quite a bit harder. You don't need to beat Uplink to play it but you should at least play vanilla a bit first before you give it a shot.
AirQuake 1 is a fun little mod that is pretty well thought out for something nearly 20 years old. Well worth a tryout over multiplayer.
Arena has no mods and no source ports (yet, there's one guy making a raycaster renderer port). Daggerfall has mods and no ports yet; but instead of mods you'll basically want whatever fixes you can get for the game. Also the mission packs. I guess if you want you can try Andyfall and Daedrafall, those are the two go-to DF mods that have quite a bit of content each. MW has a CS and OpenMW coming along; Tameriel Rebuilt will be GOAT when it's done and actually there's many good gameplay and content mods that you should screw around with. Experiment freely but make sure to clean your mod files before you load them (also use a 4GB patch on the MW exec if you load a lot of shit).
I haven't played Fallout 3+ but when it comes to classic FO there's the various restoration patches for the first two. In particular the patch for FO2 adds a fuckload of extra content. Don't necessarily recommend it on your first go-around but if you've already mastered the game it'll add some more things for you to do and flesh out some stuff that was meant to be in the game but got dropped.
Gameplay, Shifter comes to mind as the old standby, it also restores some cut content from the vanilla game. As far as newer developments, I can't wholly vouch for it because I haven't tried it out yet but GMDX seems to fix up the AI, backend code and the other game subsystems a bit (including adding System Shock 1 stamina and Thief shadow stealth) so that might be worth a try. It does look like it modifies some of the levels a little to incorporate gameplay changes but mainly it's better lighting for stealth play and a little extra geometry to fill out bare areas or incorporate skill/AI adjustments (unlike say, Revision which throws it all out for some reason…which BTW seems to have gotten a standalone non-Steam release after people screamed enough about it, so maybe it's now usable).

That's some nice geometry. Hope the rest of it looks as nice as the one shot you have there.

1.13 with the modern HAM crap is fucking nuts. VSS Vintorez plus night ops mercs is a horrifying combination. That and for head on Metal Storms. I remember in my last non-autistic 1.13 run a while back that I trained up Flo into a one-grill killing machine and tossed her a MS as two fireteams of Mercs stormed Medina. Map north of the palace she held down a dozen elites and got the rest of her squad north to meet the main battle force before they took her down in a blaze of glory.

It's an improvement, but still just a subpar survival game.

Too many mods breaks Bethesda's engines, there is a hard limit. Most of the simpler mods can be combined into a simple package the hard part is digging for the memory holes, thanks to the xboners not realizing what simple concepts like debugging is or that their console simply isn't capable of handling PC Mods it tore the modding community a new asshole cause those idiots were pirating mods they couldn't use.

...

"Pirating" as in pulling mods off the Nexus and uploading it to Bethesda.net without the modders permission and proper conversion to consoles.

Even the modders who are usually chill got triggered by consolefags pestering them with bugreports and complaints for mods that werent intended to work on consoles in the first place.

That whole episode is still hilarious and the phrase "pirated mods" will forever stand as a beacon of laughter for me. Bethesda is bound and determined to kill their modding community one way or another.

You son of a bitch, you're gonna need a new kidney if I ever find you

Is there anything that can be grafted on to make it more? Does Imp's More Complex Wasteland help solve the problem or is it too young and in-progress?

Just like with DUST, downloading a couple of mods can help with FROST, yeah.
I'd highly suggest that Mod that allows you to set up campsites in the open, can't remember the name, as well as a mod that allows you to save on survival mode because having to restart from a crash or glitch is annyoing.
FROST is still in development so at this point you can always expect the next patch to fuck your game up though. Not much to do about that beside wait until the modder declares it finished.

Zenimax released a new EULA the other day that says any assets and IPs you made for a mod are completely and utterly theirs to do as they see fit

I got the bad ending for this mod despite searching for hours for all kinds of things I feel bad mad at myself

How have you not played Puce Mooose's Tales from the Burning Sands?
nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/37172/?

Is there a fart mod for Fallout New Vegas or Fallout 4?

Genuinely this. The mod hides behind it's own lore as an excuse to make it impossible without silly amounts of save scumming or cheating.

...

Please don't user, just don't.

Wheels of Lull was good as well, even though it was buggy as fuck and requires console commands for a few things.

Please do user, just do.

...

What the fuck guys

It's a super fucking long, work-in-progress story driven half life 2 mod. The voice acting is meh but holy SHIT it's an excellent action/thriller.

i stand corrected. I didnt click YT links.

Kill me

Which ending did you get exactly?

I will get right on it.

Uplink can never be hard when you can rob banks. Can you still do it in Onlink?

I think the thing that bugs me the most about this guy isn't his shit opinions, but the pretentious way he basically abuses a thesaurus and makes these long, drawn out comparisons to unrelated shit to try and make his point sound more valid and 'intelligent'

Banking, from what I recall, isn't as soft as it is in vanilla. At least, from what I remember, the money didn't go as far and/or the systems were MUCH harder to crack into. It's been a few years so my memory is a little hazy but shit that was a walk in the park before is not anymore. Which is why I'd suggest people new to Uplink getting familiar with the basic game first strongly before playing the mod since it will ruin newbies. Not unfairly, but it's not meant for them.

He's friends with DSP, it should come as no surprise.

cmon user, aren't you hip?

...

It's not that stupid reason, I enjoy the fact that there's dangerous creatures out there. Fallout 3 is just as boring as new vegas. It's the whole gameplay style in general that bores me. Fallout 1 and 2 were much better, and the series should have ended with the excellence that was Tactics.
