Sadly not exactly a new trend. Some companies seem to want you to buy a collector's edition, and THEN have to buy the regular game on top of it rather than it being bundled. I think they're simply trying to see just how much they can kike it up and still have fans loyal enough to do as they want. I'd be interested in seeing how well/badly this does, given how angry people were about ME3, or if there's still plenty of Biodrones willing to pay $260+ to get their hands on both for this sort of shit to keep up.

Can't say I care. Collector's editions have been a thing for decades and I've not bought a single one ever. If they decide to drop the game and people lap it up then it's their mistake. Pre-ordering actually hurts games, this doesn't.
