Bloodborne

I finally played it and I must say out of all the games its the closet I felt to DeS in terms of atmosphere and level design,my cousin gave me his old PS4 cause he is a retard and got a PS4 pro I was expecting dark souls but faster but what I got to my pleasant surprise was a game that had DeS's DNA while being its own game. Seriously save for the lack of weapon variety everything is fucking great the old hunters added further to this game.

Did anyone here have the same thoughts I did when first playing this game?

Yeah nah. At least DeS runs at an unlocked framerate, so sometimes in less busy areas it is actually pretty playable.

Broken english aside, yes, the game was pretty good, despite what pc fags will tell you, even though games being exclusive is what leads to them being better in the long run for not needing to spend time and money on optimization.

Also it's arcane fag here, I got 50 arcane, 25 stamina and hp, and I still keep getting my ass kicked by living failures. I realized that the true mastery to an arcane build was not fighting fair, and instead throwing as much bullshit as you can muster at the enemy before they fall down, and this is strengthened by the fact that I killed ebrietus on my 10th try after I gave up and used a tonitrus and flame thrower. I don't even think tonitrus scales that well with arcane, I just like it because it fits my Stroheim idea. The best is when I can just win without too much thought and just tossing as many bullshit things from my inventory as I can find at the bosses. Living failures marks the first fight since my actual attaining arcane mastery that I've actually had to fight mostly. I'll find a way though. My best moment so far is walking into the vicar amelia fight with a torch and a flame sprayer and mostly stabbing with the torch, and then her limbs kept breaking from the flame sprayer for some reason, followed closely by only stabbing bloodstarved with a torch.

Never fucking mind, just beat him with a tonitrus and auger of ebrietus, and I went with black sky eye when his health got really low because fuck risking that shit
BULLSHIT WINS AGAIN
GERMAN SCIENCE IS THE BEST IN THE NIGHTMARE

I just got this and I'm having a hard time figuring out why I can play the souls games without too much trouble, but this is ruining me. Can anyone give me a rundown of how the mechanics work compared to souls? It just feels so off, like dodging as one example.

Who, the Living Failures? Good luck with Maria, most people just parry their way through the fight

When you're locked on dodging is now eight-directional instead of four-directional. Don't know what else you'd need help with, not much was changed and it's still relatively uncomplicated

Bloodborne is so unimportant that no one even comes in and sagebombs it with trollposts like overwatch and mass effect.

I wouldn't have any idea what happens in those threads in the first place because I'm not a faggot

...

Maybe it's my timing, but I just seem to get hit more than I did in the souls games. The trouble cleric beast and father glascoigne gave me was way more than the first few bosses in the souls games. That and some bosses like the scythe wielder in the chalice dungeon don't seem to be stunned when I use the gun or charged R2 attack. I fully willing to admit it's me being shit at video games though, so it could just be bad timing on my part.

Have you been playing on PC up until this point? You might just not be used to playing at 30 fps yet, because the dodge should be tilting things in your favor. It has a much larger reach and gives you more i-frames than it did in the previous games

Not necessarily your fault, they just dumped a lot of bad bosses in the chalice dungeons. By scythe wielder are you talking about the Pthumerian Descendant? If you aren't scoring criticals with the gun you need to practice your timing, because you can parry that guy to death

I played a ton of DS3 before moving to BB and I know what you're talking about.
For one, you're going to need to get used to being aggressive; when an enemy hits you, it will knock down a good chunk of your health, but the trick is to hit them, and the trade is you've either lost no health, like an effective dodge in DS, or you only lost a negligible amount of health, like blocking with a less than 100% shield. When you lose a great deal of blood, you back the fuck up and heal, and then go back in for swipes, although you may want to do that in reverse since sometimes you can be caught in a tough place and the time it takes to heal will kill you and the time it takes to slice will stun the enemy and reset your clock.
Also, backstabs don't exist, you need to fully wind up a heavy attack on their asshole to do it or you can shoot just before their attack enters the swing portion of the animation (learning the timing of the wind up to where you can shoot the moment the swing begins is a good skill to have, since even a little later can mean a trade happens, and when you get hit you're stunned, meaning you may waste your time to rip and tear their guts)
Learn to press L1 instead of triangle to swap weapon forms, you'll get fucked otherwise. Not really, healing items are given in buckets, but you could accidentally do something you don't mean to. Armor is strict fashion souls, do not wear things for status effects.
The currency is made for purchasing tons of healing items and bullets enmasse when you're farming items; you shouldn't need to farm, but the blood you get from it should be put to stocking up rather than buffing yourself and accidentally ruining the run, since you can overlevel with how generous the game is.
Just have fun.

I'm going to see how much fun I can have at the very least.
sage for double post

Is this never coming out for PC or did the other Dark Souls games also take a long time to come to PC?

Shut the fuck up about the god damn souls games already.

NEVER EVER

No, I'm a filthy console peasant, so it's most likely my bad timing. I looked it up and it's the Undead Giant. It's got what look like scythes to me, but could just be whatever those weapons Laurtec uses.

Yeah, I started Bloodborne, stopped at Vicar Amelia, then went through all of DS3. I thought I may have been rusty and needed something more familiar to get back into the game, so I put off playing BB until now. So I need to shoot the moment the windup begins? I thought the game said wait until right before the windup finishes. What just killed it for me was going on the short route to fight amelia again, when I fucked up dodging again and got knocked out by some guy with a bag. I got dragged off to some area without a lantern where I kept getting 1-shotted by being grabbed or fighting more bag guys with way too much health. Then I escape and an electric wolf skeleton boss showed up. The damage I was doing to it with my hammer was just peanuts.

Are you dodging through attacks like a madman?
because that's the only difference between the two games is Iframes on dodge

Oh, not all bosses can necessarily be parried. You are definitely not going to stun something that big with a normal weapon or with your gun. You can score a critical either by crippling the head or by destroying that sac on his right hip

Why?

...

I'm trying to dodge, through them, but I keep getting hit more in BB.

Damn, I thought it was because he had no face, not due to size. I didn't notice the sac.

no, you wait until just after it's over, fucker. When the wind up finishes there will be a moment where you can see the swing of the attack, and that moment is when you pull the trigger. There's an ebb and flow to the timing and if you can keep count in your head then you'll be parrying like it's a rhythm game. It's different than dark souls because most times you can just react, BB compensates for the player's ability to react by having the parry be a projectile that takes longer the further away you are and enemies having long start ups to offset your reflexes.
Also if something's attacking like crazy most times you can just fire off into them and they'll stun. Bosses can't really always be parried, and to test if they can be parried I use auger of Ebrietus on their back; if they fall down then their butthole is clenchable.
Since that's a late game arcane only thing though, you mostly just have to test out with smacking backs with fully charged R2s. Sometimes you'll also not line it up properly and they can just get stunned, so it's something to just keep trying until you can be assured that you did hit their back and they didn't flinch. It's also really safe to hit from behind most times so in testing you'll usually find the critical path to defeating mostly every enemy.

Okay, I got it now. That explains why I was getting mauled by the bosses. I'll try to stop fucking up now, thanks user.

MARIA IS FOR (SEXUAL) BULLYING

Got her to a quarter left on my first try, arcane is so fucking strong.

yes

You should go in there and ruin them. That's what I go in and do.

It'll get ported a little while after Demon's Souls does.

>square
AHAHAHAHAH
AHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA

Since when is rolling while locked on only four directional in any Souls game?

DISTRUST THOSE WITH IMPURE BLOOD. REMEMBER TO CRUSH AND MASH AND SMASH ALL SUSPECTED IMMORTALS

Are you sure your not the faggot user?

Overwatch threads on the other hand are equivalent to cancer and deserve sage bombing, hell the amount of porn in them is minimal in comparison to the amount of porn that should be constantly posted in every thread

Still at least the mass effect threads are doing something, The OC they put out is highly critical and might actually give second thoughts to a few of the people planning to buy Ass Defect: Androgynous
For me that alone justifies their existence in comparison to the countless threads on the board

My bumhole was ruined when I first started it was just how insanely aggressive the enemies were plus add the speed when you get off the other games your shit gets fucked.

In Demon's Souls and Dark Souls you can't roll diagonally relative to the target's position. That change only occurred in DS2, along with sprinting in any direction while in lock-on.

I just need to kill logarius now, I wanted the wheel as early as possible and that mother fucker is a cunt on level 27.
Would still smash AND MASH AND POUND AND GROUND VERMIN for him

Game has been discussed to death. One major mistake. Shouldn't have made the randomly generated dungeons. Could've made an entire new area or two with the extra dev time and assets.

>>>Holla Forums

Since Demon's Souls. You really never noticed that you can only dodge in four cardinal directions?

To be fair he is right that Bloodborne threads used to be one of the biggest shitposting magnets on the board

Damn nigger you didn't just drink the kewl-aid you fucking drown yourself.

Any game that can't render at my LCD's lowest rate is fucking garbage. There is no excuse.

Man I fucking LOVE the minigun. It was a pain in the ass to get but satisfying to kill the Moon Presence with it

Man, your cousin must be one rich motherfucker as to give you his PS4 for free.

The vanilla PS4 is pretty cheap nowadays since the Pro and Slim is the standard.

Not in Russia, hah.

an unlocked inconsistent 60 looks much worse than a consistent 30.

Slavs are subhuman

Doesn't even really matter since he's wrong that Demon's Souls runs at an unlocked framerate

Slavs are white

half the posts in this thread were about its framerate. most of them probably havnt played a console game in a long time.

30fps on a PC is unplayable. 30fps on a console is very playable. frame pacing is completely overlooked.

Cool meme. 30 is obviously less than optimal, but if it's a stable 30 it's very playable nigger.

300 dollars ain't shit, his cousin wipes his ass with 300$

a stable/paced 30 looks alot smoother than an unlocked 60. but that will never stop them from being snobs to anything sub-60.

Proof?

Really dipshit?

I don't know how many console games I've played that I'd describe as "stable" 30 fps. BB in particular had really bad frame timing on the release build, although it did get improved a lot in a later patch

I guess the proof would be whether or not you've played a game at a stable 30 and if you've played a game at an unstable 60. Did you play MGS4? That would be a console game running at an unstable unlocked framerate

Not when you have more CPU/GPU than is required to meet 60…

ps) someone is deleting posts lol

yeah I agree stable fps is better then a fps with stuttering. But unlocked 60 fps with rare to occasional dips is much better then stable 30 fps. The dips and the stuttering is when these issues are most noticeable. Its unfortunate that the standard PS4 BB has both 30fps and occasional stuttering. Althought I am interested to see what true HDR support will do for the image quality, their where actually some nice saturated colors in BB but because they tend to be cool colors it apprehended to be "grey" relative to the rest of the pallet.

Jesus fucking CHRIST is a pure ARC build painful. Nothing scales early with it except for consuables like the molotov. I'm just here with my saw spear hacking away at everything until I figure out where to find arcane-damage gems.

I replayed on vanilla PS4 with whatever HDR option they patched in a couple months ago and didn't notice much of a positive difference. I don't mind the game using a muted color palette, the only place I wish was closer to the concept art is Nightmare Frontier, since they used a similar look to much better effect in the Hunter's Nightmare

Take it up with arcanefag, he seems to have it down

What kind of a toaster are you running if you cant get well over 60 fps? Is your autism bux insufficient for a good computer? Is neofag leaking again?

Don't have a HDR TV because you won't see any difference if you monitor cannot utilize the wider spectrum of color.

also its not a muted color palette, in fact Its impressive how saturated the colors are. It just appears muted relative to the colors around it. At times it lacks contrast which gives it the appearance of being muted. A Higher Dynamic range, which allows dark's to be darker and lights to be lighter without the image being blown out or overexposed would really make something like Bloodborne much more beautiful. Of course this also means you would have to adjust the Brightness, Contrast and Saturation to get the most out of the HDR image.

Yes

I just recently learned about dynamic range. Pretty neat stuff.

HDR is the work of the Devil

back to your containment board on endchan Satan.

here is ~60fps with poor frame pacing. looks fucking terrible.

Are you replying to the wrong person?

Hey back to your Saturn

No, wait. You referred to my trips How the fuck is stating that learning about dynamic range is neat, in any way have shit to do with consolewar faggotry?

god damn it. trying to multitask was a mistake

You're autistic and should be shamed.

Thats pretty fitting

Damn

...

...

ftfy

Space Ghost Coast to Coast wasn't as good as people like to say it was.

I do have an HDR-capable TV

Where, outside of the Fishing Hamlet and the post-Gascoigne sunset palette?

Also I said "muted", not gray. De-emphasizing the color of the image is totally intentional and I would hate to see Bloodborne get the kind of ENB-tier treatment a lot of games get

Bloodborne is easily of the same quality as the first Dark Souls, and even Demon's Souls. If you didn't like those games then yeah maybe it's not your thing, but it's still a fantastic game.

reactionary leftist love to hang on to any stale idols of when they still had cultural reliance. The guy probably has a folder devoted to Simpsons image macros.

Ah, well I still have yet to see true HDR but I love the idea conceptually but I don't want to drop the money on a pro or a HDR TV. Beautiful screenshot btw.

you got that right
Are you in actual fact a retard?
Bloodborne has bad frame pacing, consoles do not do frame pacing better at all, because the hardware is consistently pushed beyond what it can do.
But that is wrong. It is only bad when the game uses a piss poor v-sync.double buffered is a mistake As long as it has a proper method to do vsync, 30fps can have flawless frame pacing on hardware that can handle it, including PC.

Here's a free video on bloodbornes inconsistent frame time.

Whats your point?

Yeah sure, and so is Dark Souls 3 and Nioh.

...

This is why this board will continue to sink into irrelevance.

Congrats guys, you did it, you finally have a Holla Forums consisting of nothing but shitposting, we are finally the Holla Forums off shoot we always where deep down.

Dank memes three was crappy though, I agree on that.

Are you saying Dark Souls 3 and Nioh are meme games too?

Even now that I have a quality computer set up, after years of gaming on a laptop I still don't get how people are so finicky about framerate. I mean yeah 60FPS looks great, but whining about 30 just sounds like coffee fags whining that it's not their preferred roast and bean or some other petty shit like that. I've gone through games at around 10 FPS or less, and it was literally playable.

Exactly what I said. It wasn't a difficult statement to parse.

Stop taking the bait

Doesn't prove a whole lot showing how v1.01 of the game runs considering it was patched for performance several times after that

Nigger do you also drink rat piss and eat shit?

Nioh is fucking brilliant game. Absolute amazing game, not holistically Bloodborne good but up their. It's actually not fair to compare it to Dark Souls or BB aside form a few superfical mechanics. Dark Souls 3 is not bad ether but it suffers from Being a forced sequel that Hidetaka Miyazaki didn't really want to make, but mechanically speaking DkS3 is a fine game.

up there*

Sorry, I'm shitposting in another bread and it's leaking over.

Are you a whiny fucking snob? There's a difference between having taste and preferences and being a stuck up whiny bitch.

I don't know about updates, and tbh I don't care about that game in particular. That 30fps guy just triggered my autism.

But nobody (that I am aware off) is defending stable 30fps as being better then stable 60fps. The argument fallows that frame stability trump's frame rate. A higher stability and a higher frame-rate inherently is always better. But being that stability take presidents over frame rate it logically also fallows that a stable 30 is preferable to a unstable 60 with dips and stuttering. The fact that you take such a hardline approach to this topic only shows your ignorance of how technology functions. Maybe Mommy shouldn't have bought you a Macbook and Wii U kiddo because no amount of wishful thinking will turn WINE into gold and your wiimote into a Gaming PC. The biggest take away is BLOODBORNE NEVER EVER

Look at all the words he needs, just to be wrong.

Then why aren't you replying to show him how wrong he is?

Great fallacy lad, tell me about your 5 builds.

Its been like this since 2016 and 2015 was already a steep decline.
I want to leave but I can't.

Yes, Souls/Fromfags are mentally ill individuals who cannot accept that they will never play a Souls game for the first time again.
Reminds me of when From was milking AC and the faggots who played would complain while buying it over and over and considering it "teh best gayms".

Bloodborne however is a special case since that shit was mostly cuckchan Sonygger shilling that slipped on to here once the GG exodus was in full motion.

Shame

Thats rich

Sure, and so will the Surge, right?
Oh wait, thats neither exclusive or Japanese, my bad

Jesus Christ, I'm getting too old for this shit

If he does not read my post, he does not deserve a (you).

inb4 LOL U TRUGGGERD XD!!!

Bloodborne is a clone?

Sounds like you're avoiding a reply.

Like clockwork

Aside from some meta/gimmick/map structure differences every game after DeS has used the same the same base.

Its like saying Battlefield Juan isn't a clone of Battlefield 3.

Shit bait does not deserve a (you).
The post did not even make sense.

I can't speak for DaS3 as I haven't played it, but Nioh is genuinely very good. I don't think it should be compared to Souls games as often as it has been, since it is quite different in a lot of ways, but its combat in particular is easily better than any of them.

...

...

YOU DON'T FIT IN YET!

If you think you feel old when you're nineteen just wait until you're really an adult

Sure

I'm sorry my opinions trigger you
Guess I should be banned for Rule 8

You forgot to use "le" ironically

Reminder:
I'm the one shitposting and baiting

kill yourself faggot

you IRC goons are fucking pathetic tbh, cant even appreciate a good video game. Maybe you would be more comfortable back on Joshes forum.

jesus christ the game's not even relevant enough to be called shilled by this point. From obviously doesn't care about the game enough to do anything more to it or to use it for money, the price has been 20 dollars for a while now. Go to the fucking dark souls 3 thread and tell those faggots that they're cock suckers for buying a half baked game.

I see a Goon alright

Which is a fucking shame because I was hoping for more space slug magic and DLC

I do too really, but I'd rather bloodborne stay a one off rather than becoming a rehashed over saturated series like DS is becoming. BB was at least something fresh in terms of design and lore, werewolfism and other beasthood caused by bugs which come from blood in the tombs of old gods who are actually space aliens trying to get back to their home planet is fucking radical as far as ideas go.

Remember, Holla Forums doesn't play videogames :^)

fair enough, but at least a second DLC package or something. Even just some more beast items would be nice. The Beast Embrace and Milkweed rune offered some really cool concepts of willingly being corrupted and I'd like to see that expanded on a bit.

Yeah man I love it when my game is a jittery mess. Way better than that smooth and responsive bullshit.

Casual

People complained about blightown but everyone still played it just fine when it first came. Even though that's a really over the top stutter example.

Jesus did cuckchan and goons show up to shitpost this thread?

Are one of you faggots on playing by the name of Artorias? I saw someone using my torch technique on the cleric beast, and I have a feeling that idea of dumb bullshit arcane builds rubbed off on the collective consciousness. Although I don't really know, maybe I'm totally wrong

...

Anyways I'm going to go pure ARC and somehow work my way to the Kos Parasite so that I can make a fist wizard.

How can people enjoy these games? They are horrible in just the gameplaying aspects. Reminds me of low-budget games from around the millenia in terms of the fights, like holy hell.

I'm on my first playthrough and I absolutely fucking hated fighting Ludwig. Up until I ran into him I'd kill all the bosses solo in about 2 tries, but he was a true mother fucker. Took me almost two hours to finally beat him and I only managed to do it by summoning an NPC to take some of his aggro off me.
Maybe I was just under leveled? I fought him at lvl 50.

Ludwig is the boss that punishes your dumb ass if you still haven't grasped that playing defensively is stupid and wrong in BB.

I wasn't playing defensively, at least not overly so.

The HDR on that second image is fairly shit.
Also, why do our eyes see colour so much differently to cameras?
They're both getting the same photons.

I beat him at level 4 on ng+8 his second form still gives me nightmares.

His second form is actually easier because he has a more structured fighting style. His first form is all over the place, autistically screeching the entire time.

First form is way easier to do once you know the moves. Beast pellets let you end him really fast because of how much damage he lets you get in. The second phase is mostly messed up because of the timing variations he has. It was forever ago that I fought him, but I remember he had a sword swipe with a delayed start and an instant one that looked really similar.

Bump

Ludwig? No way. He only has access to like three different moves as long as you're standing directly next to him, and you want to be standing directly next to him because that's how you'll score criticals

You sound like an AAA whore to me.

...

...

Just noticed that too, calling out a casual who refuses to play a good game because of "muh -60fps" gets your posts deleted now

Who's casual now?

You.

...

this doesn't sound like wheel spinning lads
I fookin told ye to spin yer wheels

The starting axe is better

In a couple of weeks I'll probably run out of things to do in Nioh for a little while, so I was wondering how this game compares?

Threaded Cane is best

lad…
Quick question on the Chalice Dungeons and getting the alternate weapons from them - should I just keep doing them at the Altars with the materials I've gathered, or is it easier to create custom ones? Will I ever gimp myself on resources?

Sorry, I'm just an autist about that sort of thing and want to get all weapons on my first playthrough.

You will only get alternate main game weapons from specific chalice dungeons. The fextralife wiki has guides on which chalice glyphs to use to get the weapons you want. I don't otherwise know.
Don't do it fam. The alternate versions are for minmaxing the fuck out of your bloodgems and you should only go searching for shit when you are certain you want to use different shit; star shapes will primarily hold strength boosts, triangles will most often give you elemental or otherwise nonphysical damage up effects, and crescents will sometimes give both or one or the other. Droplets can be slotted to any shape so if you have a good gem for the weapon you're using you can plan for one of the spaces you use to be a free space no matter what shape it is.
The other weapons are function similar in every other way though, and it's pointless to go searching for them, especially since the number of chalices you have to go through to get the chalice that actually contains them is way far in, and I'm pretty sure even then the location is randomized.

No

...

I can't wait until I get 50 str/arc, this shit is going to be so fucking fun. Wheel is objectively the best weapon in the entire game, gold ardeo is the best helm.

Console war fags go and stay go

I fucking love the Moonlight Greatsword so much. (Or whatever they fuck they call it in this)

I'm torn between this games version and DaS3 version being my favorite version of it.

Das3 is the same as 1 & 2, it just lets you also do the sword art, which is just one extra move. I think the one in BB is a lot better since it is given its own action oriented moveset.

Tell me Holla Forums why are Arcane builds so fun?

Enjoy it more than my Powder Kegger Bloodtinge Build

You are right, because 1) it had the A team, 2) Miyazaki actually gave a shit, 3) it was in fact originally intended to be the true "sequel" to Demon's Souls. In the multiplayer stress test people glitched their way into the Gascoigne fight and he would say "Umbasa" which is the dead give away. Also, in Demon's Souls, Freke's Apprentice states that Freke is "on the verge of discovering something that will rival even the Demon Souls" which means that after the Old One is put back to slumber (by the player character or some future Slayer of Demons - both endings are canon) the Soul Arts are no longer usable and the power of Blood Ministration replaced them entirely.

Because arcane and spells in BB work different than any other from spells; in the same way that each weapon is its own unique loadout, the spells are all functionally unique. AoE lets you have a short to mid ranged melee type move that stuns, removing the need for guns, tiny tonitrus is a fucking king of fighters special, ACB lets you do some armored core shit, choir bell heals, beast roar is a push move, EG lets you mix up your spell game and does hearty damage on its own, BSE is the only straightforward projectile in the game, Accursed Brew works like a black fireball, all the weapons that use arcane are interesting and have some level of thoughtfulness that pure quality builds don't get, and killing bosses is a matter of throwing as much shit as you can at them until they fall down, which can be noted by the fact that you can down vicar amelia with a god damn hunter torch and flame sprayer with 20 arcane. Arcane is just really fun because you can do a ton of dumb shit, and it can have similar role playing capacity, since you can git gud with one spell and only use that and build a character around why they would use that and how they use it, much like how I often build characters to use certain weapons and only wear certain clothes because of in game lore reasons or otherwise.

My beef with Choir Bell is that it shows up so late in the game.

So is the PS4 Pro totally not worthwhile? I've been aiming to eventually get a PS4 mainly for bloodborne, but also a couple other games now that they're coming out.

Bloodborne and Nioh really are the only two truly exclusive games out right now that I can actually recommend to people. Infamous: Second Son is worth a play only if you enjoyed the previous games well enough to give it a shot. The rest is NeoFAG garbage of the highest degree. Ace Combat 7 was announced as multiplat recently, Nier: Automata will be on PC.

Oh wait you mentioned the PS4 Pro. Get it if you really want top performance and image quality from Nioh, and if you feel like the Boost Mode for Bloodborne would be worth it. Otherwise a regular PS4 Slim is pretty damn cheap these days isn't it?

Yeah, the difference in prices from what I've been looking at is around a $200 difference between a slim and a pro. Is the slim a straight upgrade in terms of design and durability compared to the 'normal' PS4 then?

I like the idea of what a pro is going for but I guess I wouldn't really see much benefit from it because I wouldn't even be running it through a fancy TV or anything, assuming that's where a lot of the features were meant to cater to.

My beef with it is you get a maximum of 4 uses out of it with blood bullets and formless oedon. It's nearly a full heal too, but for strength builds that don't use guns mostly I feel like the cost should be a little less. You can, however, fudge the blood bullets to give you 10 uses by reusing the blood bullets every time so you lose two real bullets at most, but since that also costs life and time it's really not worth it unless you are specifically using it to heal when you have no more blood vials. The sum of nearly 8 extra blood vials is pretty good regardless though.

The Pro is just as cheaply manufactured as the original and basically the same size but with a different design. I'm sure the launch problems have been mostly ironed out by now though.

The Slim is the original PS4 but it looks like someone took a Katana (glorious Nippon steel folded over 9000 times) and chopped off the top third of the system.

Replaying BB again obviously. Decided to go back to doing a lv4 Wast of Flesh run that I had abandoned. Hands down my favorite Miyazaki game only on account of the fact that none of the bosses are so predictable that you can truly feel you've mastered them. Yes you can exploit Chalice Dungeons and become over leveled and over powered to make the second half of the game a cake walk, but you really don't learn anything by playing that way. Most the bosses have such a huge variety of move sets that they never are entirely predictable. Dark Souls, DkS2 and Demoms Souls bosses you can almost do blindfolded once you learn the moves.

Ludwig is hands down the best boss ever designed by FromSoftware and the music is what sells it.

I'd have to disagree on that front. I've got them down pretty darn well. Certainly a lot more versatile than previous games, but nothing that can't be countered.

Really the only problem I have with most of the bosses is locking on to the head, which is usually the best place to hit, makes the camera die, and otherwise locking on to big bosses will cram the camera into tight corners. I really wish game devs would realize the best way to do boss fights is have the camera pan out just enough so you're always looking at the boss and you can see your character. Just a little bit further backed out and it would open things up so much more, but often I'll get trapped with the camera spinning and I can't change my direction because it's constantly rotating me back into a circle.

Dark Souls actually moved the camera for stuff like Gargoyles and Gaping Dragon, it's amazing they abandoned this simple improvement.

thinking back now, dark souls does do this, but it feels really few and far between the times it does that. I really wish they had kept that system though, having the camera spin around the boss and into its asshole every time I cross the threshold of its head space is fucking annoying. Unlocked works sometimes, but then I can only see me and I need to listen for the wind ups.
either way, just killed ebrietus with my wheel man, and it felt really good every time I revved up and smashed her gooey face bits. I was also thinking she might be really fucking retarded or autistic or something, because she smashes her face into the ground for nearly three different attacks, which is dumb autistic kid shit.

the camera sometimes acting shitty is the only issue I have with the game. It's not always bad unless the arena is bad, but if you get stuck between a wall and the boss it can really fuck you. The camera does move and sometimes pans out in BB which actually fucks my spacial awareness up because in the other games with it fixed on the player you could have a sense for positioning even if you couldn't see exactly what was going on. Turning off lock-on from time to time is important in BB, which is something I actually appreciate.

I don't think it did that honestly. I am fairly certain it was a fixed camera distance. The issue with BB is far to often the camera is pushed right up your own characters ass because it adjust for every little obstacle in the environment. In fact I would like an option to turn off Auto Adjust and Auto Avoid Obstacles (like in Nioh).

Maybe you do, but I find all the bosses very chaotic compared to other games. I can reliable beat every boss in the game, even with sloppy play but I never feel like I know them inside and out 100%. Take for example Blood Starved Beast, you don't truthfully learn that fight until you have to re-fight it at much higher level in the Chalice dungeons. However even after mastering the fight you don't refight the thing often enough to then feel confident doing the same fight with 1/2 health or a upgraded weapon. On the other hand you are forced to learn Ludwig inside and out only because he is such a hard hitting boss. Another example would be Darkbeast Paarl, if you fight the thing early on and are not going with a str build it can be difficult to stun it to remove the lightning damage which makes the fight really crazy. On the other hand, I could probably beat most the bosses in DkS and DeS with a self imposed severe handicap and would still avoid all damage just because they are slower fights and the bosses have fewer attacks. I guess I am being a bit long-winded in trying to say most BB bosses keeps you on your toes, where as other game in the series become pure rote memory. Manus Father of the Abyss is the only thing that comes close to a BB boss off the top of my head.

Holy fucking shit, I don't know why but my brain just opened up and then I just won. I should have died to one bullshit charge that put me on magic pixel, but I knew right then this was the run I would win. Ludwig's second form seems a lot easier, especially since he attacks exactly how he looks like he will.

Yes, it was the unexpected but what old Demon's souls gamers wanted.

Dark Souls series kinda went into a seen this done that sort of scenario, so its basically asuccessful version of their mecha games.

If you have the shekels Nioh should fill that itch that bloodborne gave. If not buy NieR automata its special.

I hated Ludwig at first (got me salty as fuck) but I've grown to really love that fight. Possibly my favorite in the series as well, alongside Artorias and the Fume Knight.

Paarl's just a taste of what the boss can do. The Loran version aka Camerabeast Paarl is fuckin' bananas; it's almost impossible to keep track of that thing. Where did that house-sized electric furry skeleton go?

Some bosses in DaS3 are a bit like that (Pontiff Sulyvahn, Champion Gundyr and Friede) which is rather frustrating for some builds because you'll have almost no opportunities to attack. Gundyr in particular acts like a fighting game character, canceling moves into each other over and over again. They'd be tough as BB bosses, let alone as DaS bosses where your character still moves like a tank.

Anyway, this isn't worth it's own topic but some new screenshots for the last DaS3 DLC got released.
I'm making the stupid mistake of having high hopes for this one. The previous was a disappointment but we're finally booked to Londor.

Picked it up again recently and I'm having a much better time. I know a lot more about the basic mechanics and I'm playing it more like Bloodbourne instead of playing it like Dark Souls.
Just beat the Witches of Somethingorother and I'm trying to figure out what the fuck to do after seeing that cutscene after Vicar Ameila.

Not for the Gargoyles or the Gaping Dragon, but it does for the Sanctuary Guardian and Kalameet. It's still not dynamic, though, it just zooms out to a fixed distance.
There is an option for that, but it doesn't actually do anything.

She gave you a password to get to the next area, there's a note that tells you what to do.

I sometimes wish it kept its Transylvania motif rather than switch to having lovecraft stuff. When I first started and saw that spark element, I thought one of the later bosses would have been some sort of Frankenstein's monster

Keep searching the areas for shit to do and eventually you will find hidden paths. Also you can trip into encounters, like I did when I completely forgot Henryk and Eyline have a fight. Anyway, just keep wandering around, you'll find your way to the next thing.

The only shield worth anything is the one from the dlc. It protects against magic and blood very well.

user, are you in for a treat!

I love the level design in BB. For the most part, there's 1 lamp per area and it's all about opening tons of shortcuts.
Also make sure you are as thorough as possible because almost half the game is optional and that's without even considering the Chalice dungeons.

The game was extremely difficult for me in the first run because I was too dependent on shields but eventually it clicked with me and even got me inspired to go back to the Souls games and do no-shield runs.

I put the loch shield on my person for a second to see how it was and it felt fucking awful, it was all the bad parts of shielding in a souls game wrapped into one fucking item.
Even after playing tons of heavy shield knights, I got into BB and immediately started rocking ass as a caster and then a heavy executioner and didn't get that feeling you guys got.

I didn't try to shield because I knew that wasn't how the game was meant to be played but adapting still took its time. Also the fact that everything hits like a truck.
Eventually got it and it's probably the game in the series I'm most proficient at but it helps that enemies drop consumables. Another big factor is that every weapon is good in its own right. Sure, stuff like Ludwig's Holy Blade and the Axe are better choices, but I did my first run with the Cane and Blade of Mercy and they carried me well. In the other games, using a whip or dual daggers is basically a self-gimped run.
The Wheel will always be my favorite though. Something about bludgeoning enemies with that thing feels so satisfying.

Wheel Bros For Life
The most satisfying part for me is revving the shit out of it after a boss kill or going into a boss room and revving it up before bashing the shit out of it. The fact that it is a weapon with no bladed piece and has next to no practicality over using anything else makes it a lot better, it livens up the world when I'm laughing like a maniac about smashing horrible god beasts with a fucking cart wheel.
As dumb as it looks, the wheel is still very aesthetically pleasing, and I'm glad From made the best recurring character have his own place in the world as far as lore goes.
those weapons are only better for like your first run if you don't know how to hunt properly or if you're doing a role play specific build. The axe has no purpose for me once you get late in the game because of its ease of use and lack of any real cool shit to do. I can strike the tonitrus on my shoulder for hours in a satisfied way or use any of the regular saws, but the fucking axe just has no place once you get the hammer or any other heavy weapon. I hate seeing people use it so late in the game too.
Every weapon has its own unique little moveset and purpose, and I love it all. Even the guns have a fucking use for certain builds, and they made it so that if people are strong men who don't use bullets they still have damage options with them. Honestly I don't know how people got upset with the weapon variety, when you consider that every weapon is its own class, and in that right there are nearly as many weapons in BB as there are in DS

I found the password door before I posted this, but I didn't realise "Fear the Old Blood" was actually a password. It clicked for me when I thought about how they said it, like they were both familiar with it.
Took me a while to find my way back to the door though, kept winding up back at the Cathedral Ward.

Yeah, it's really easy to go one way and think you're going another way in this game, it fucking sucks sometimes, but really that only happens when walking around twinepork village

I admit I was first drawn because of the Berserk meme (even based my STR character on Mozgus) but really grew to love the weapon. A good thing about it is that it really teaches you how to keep your spaghetti in check; you can't mash R1 and expect to get away with it.
That said, it still has some great qualities. A charged R2 has a lot more range and speed one might expect and the tricked dodge R1 tracks like a magnet with a lingering hitbox on top of it, making the weapon a force to be reckoned with in PvP. And the form shift attack costs no stamina.

The armory might seem small but it's genuinely varied. I got 5 builds and the only weapon I repeat is the Wheel and even then, I'll use it differently since it's for the Arcane boost (though my main Arcane weapon will always be the Moonlight sword; that thing is just too good and too much fun).

I recommend the "do dumb shit until it works" build
it's really the most fun build I have ever done.

Go back right fucking now oh my god.

XD

Shame there's no option to respec. Would like to "correct" a couple of builds and maybe try FULL arcane because apparently that stat doesn't have diminishing returns.
But that did seem to be the thing with Arcane - go full or don't bother (unless it's for non-damage tools).

Apparently it doesn't get good until 40, unlike most things, and then it just keeps getting good, although most people say there's a soft-hard cap at 50 like always

Can't say from experience but read that you can practically max the stat and the scaling will keep pumping. A 99 ARC space broccoli must be scary.

Speaking of scaling, recently heard that the best gems are the scaling ones (cursed variety, naturally). I already burned hours farming those fat fucks for the +27% Tempering gems with every freakin' build so fuck it. I got a touch of the 'tism but I'm not crazy enough to do that shit, especially when those are all Layer 3 rewards.

Okay I stopped leveling arcane because I hit 50 on Stroheim but I guess I've got a new thing to achieve.
nigger you shouldn't even fuck with that, that's for people who have tons of free time and just want to max all their numbers.

5 star post

Just got to Cainhurst.
God damn, everything is kicking my ass.
Also, does anyone have a good strategy for the Hunter you fight at the end of Eileen's quest?

The Bloody Crow? I don't wanna say you're proper fucked…but you're proper fucked.
Before, you could make him trick the Chicago, make him follow you to the door and then he'd turned back with the sword draining his HP and just wait until he died but they patched that out.
If you already fought him, then you know the deal - he can kill you with the two shots, you won't survive a visceral and he's got more HP than most bosses plus he can heal.
At what level are you? I cap NG at Lv60 and it's at that time I'll fight him. If skill isn't working (again, if he gets one lucky shot, you're fucked and, make no mistake, that fucker fishes for gun staggers), take the fight next to the door, while he won't back away and let his HP go down all the way, he will back away and you can pelt him with poison daggers and get a shot or two.
Classic Souls cheese - dance around the aggro line.

Cainhurst was also very difficult for me in my first run, particularly the area boss whom I only beat near the end but currently, I tend to comfortably mop the area at Lv40.

I know. I've Platinum the game.
The Bosses in DaS3 is why that game is good. My biggest issue with DaS3 not having consistent 60 fps on my aging computer which is not really Fromsoft problem.

Read the stopwatch Ameila dropped. see:
There are other times in the game where they hint to the password but I admit the first time I played the game I didn't put two and two together and had no idea why I magically had "the password".

I think this is the 5th or sixth time I've played through the game and even knowing the maps like the back of my hand I am supersized to continue to recognize new locations in the backround. For example the areas where you fight Blood Starved beast is practically right below the ladder leading from the Pig to Father Gascoigne and you can see the Gunnery tower overlooking Old Yharnam from the bridge with the bolder. I used to think it was a bit too ornate to recognize landmarks but as you get more familiar with the map you start to see it folds in on itself just like Dark Souls. There is just less open gates to get form one location to the other. That door that leads to Central Yharnam after the Cleric Beast unfortunately can never be opened.

I've seen some people make great use of the shield in PvP. Shame that it is basically useless otherwise and just a joke item. Blades of Mercy are great weapons and the Cane in whip form starts out week but becomes extremely powerful after you upgrade it.

That is my second gripe with BB. There are a few builds that are powerful "late game" so getting to a point where they are viable is a struggle. While I don't like the idea of infinite respec because it devalues the idea of rolling a new character, it does such to try to actually build a pure Arcane or Bloodtinge build. Or they could of had lower tier alternative versions of later game weapons. They wouldn't even need to be the same weapons just have similar stat requirements. Think of it like training wheels weapon to hold you over until you could get the Moonlight sword. So that you could start utilizing the build sooner without having to settle on a Skill or Str weapon would have been nice.

hate to say you just got to get gud. learn the tells for his attacks and try not to get hit, If he goes to heal parry him with your gun.

I "learned" to like Sulyvahn but most I found a bit ridiculous (Dragonslayer Armor would be 10/10 without the off-screen aids blood bullshit). A boss can be difficult without all that chinese girl cartoon bullshit of fire skidmarks, running three laps before shoving a spear up our ashen heinies or going ULTRA COMBO FINISH! like Soul of Cinder. Some of that crap just seems too much for a Souls game (I'll cut Arty some slack since he's a walking Berserk reference). Add the Anime Quills and I'm starting to wonder what's the tone?
I admit that fashion and build planning are what kept me hooked on DaS3. I always love the start of the game but after the Settlement, it feels like a huge slog with some good bits like the Cathedral and Lothric Castle/Archives as they're both very shortcut-heavy.

Yeah, it's pretty cool. You can also see Burgerworth from the giant windmill and Nightmare of Mensis from the Frontier.
But the game does a terrible job at rendering things at a distance, like how you can see the spot where Eileen is from mere feet away and you can't see her nor the objects there. Old Yharnam view from the bridge also looks super barebones. This might be a problem with Sony's studio because Gravity Rush 2 has the same issue.

At first I thought they didn't want to make Gascoigne optional but they could always make the door open only from the Ward's side.

I felt that the most with my BT/SKL build. With ARC, I moved up very comfortably with a fire Cleaver and Bolt Ludwig's.

Doesn't have to be infinite. I wouldn't mind if it's a 99 Insight cost item. Heck! I'm hoarding Rocks for the next DLC. :^)

What?

Kill him fast and hard, that's it.

Welcome to the nightmare frontier, I hope you brought a wheel.

Judging by that tale, you didn't get to the best part yet.

And sedatives.

If you have no top line 2000$+ TV you probably have a gutted version of HDR.

TV tech is very special, there is a huge difference in picture and hdr quality between a 50$ walmart hdr 4k tv and a top line Sony 3000$ hdr tv.

Sedatives are useless, you will lose that health. You see that eye? That's telling you, "prepare your anus, you're losing 70% of your health." Using a sedative is like asking to be fucked twice, and that's heresy.

I take them because I kill those fuckers. Sure, first runs I always high-tailed it but once I figured how to deal with them, I'll take them out. In a way, they're paper tigers. Paper tigers that will maul your ass if you're not careful but they're not as scary as they look.
After the dungeons, dealing with screaming headbangers, hunchbacked assholes with zero start up OHKO infinite tracking fireballs, Chime Maiden 2: Spider Boogaloo and naked fatsos, everything in the vanilla game seems tame.

I found it

are you implying I do not make them taste the wheel of my boot? I pulverize them to a bloody pulp, when they stare they can only look in one direction anymore, and that's to the good lord above. I gnash their flesh and bone twixt the ground and the polished wood of a strong wheel. I don't need sedatives because the hardest they can hit me could take me to 1 hp by looking at me, but as long as I strike them dead then it won't matter more than that.

Have fun and god speedwagon.

The first time is always special.

It's official. Logarius only recruited people with anger issues. And that was the right choice.

You guys meant Mr. Stare-n'-Tear, right? The not-mindflayer?

Yup.
They're called Winter Lanterns. Try and get a good luck at them for some interesting details. But I'd say the Brainsuckers are closer in similarity to Mind Flayers.

I was talking about the Winter lantern that is on a very small narrow ledge on a cliff face. There's also the other one in the caves, you better go looking for her too.

Found them both.
Did not enjoy finding them.

There's a third one further into the pit you get knocked into.

SPIN THE WHEEL FOR THE TREASURE TO TAKE

Yes. Lots of people agree.

The only people who disagree do not and have never owned a PS4 to actually play it.

I am at level 58.
Been grinding Chalice dungeons to try and level.
But I stopped leveling health and stamina to focus on strength and skill. Put a few into arcane just so I could use some magics.
Got an uncanny weapon from one of the dungeons and have been using that and the Raifu Spear as my mains. Really looking forward to the wheel.

you fucked up m8

Gotta agree with here. Wheel is essentially a STR weapon and it seems you're making a Quality build. You can still use it to mess around but it seems that Ludwig's Holy Blade is the weapon you'll get the most mileage from that stat investment.
Also give the Stake Driver a whirl. I thought it was terrible at first and all it had going for it was the [R2] gimmick but it's remarkably good once you get used to it. But again, there's no such thing as a bad weapon in this game.

Now that I've calmed down from the
BLINDING RAGE
of some asshole putting any stats into skill, I suggest using something that better suits that build, like
Wait I don't fucking know what goes with skill
BECAUSE I'M NOT A FUCKING PUSSY WHO USES SKILL WEAPONS

Dragonslayer Armor? I like the fan theory that its corrupted version of Ornstein's armor
The area its not really loaded in. Its a less detailed prop version but its based on the geometry of the real one. They did the same thing with Dark Souls 1. Its how they hide load screens that makes it seem seamless. The whole map is not actually loaded in, only the collision mapping. This can be really seen when you watch speed-runs.
Instead of endless sequels to these games I wouldn't mind seeing DLC more expansions. Another "Old Hunters" DLC for Bloodborne would be amazing. Hell I wish they had added more verity to chalice dungeons, I wouldn't mind a chalice dungeon expansion that refined and fixed them. (or are you talking about the DkS3 DLC?)

Artorias (I should stop trying to be smart ass).

I get that for things like seeing Old Yharnam from the bridge it seems really odd that from that spot with all the dog cages you can't see Eileen nor any prop in that place when the places are just a very short bridge away.

Old Hunters is probably impossible to top in terms of "muh deep lore" but I wish we had one to elaborate on the Cainhurst-Pthumerian connection, their ties to Byrgenwerth and maybe a bit more info on the Executioners. Heck! They could even go full Castlevania and just lets us explore more of the castle as it looks like we got the simple tourist tour version.
As for DaS3, despite my disappointment with the game and bigger disappointment with the first DLC (cool weapons though), I'm somehow hopeful for Ringed City. Seems we'll get a lot of answers (and probably a lot of retcons I'll end hating if degenerate scaly Ornstein and Yorshka are anything to go by) and Londor was one of my favorite story elements in Das3 alongside Sulyvahn and Aldrich.

bloodborne was fun but the new game + was boring. I just wanted to see the final boss
didn't do the DLC

over 1k hours in DkS over 500 in DeS, approximately over 200 hours in DkS2, about 200 hours in BB and 158 in Dark Soul III. I've never ever played new game + in any of these games. If I want a challenge I just impose my own (sl1 ect).

NG+ is never really a challenge, it's always more of a sponge canon fest. The only time the NG+ has been balanced towards being, "You start doing just a little less damage to enemies," is 3, and that's the worst one by far.

actually could using bonfire ascetics could be considered NG+? Because bonfire ascetics where hands down the best part of DorkSewllsDose.

Artorias at sl1 was hands down my favorite boss ever. Manus and Kalameet made me go hollow. I didn't even know pyromaniac was good on a SL1 run until hit a brick wall with Manus and by the time I beat Kalameet I actually felt too strung out too appreciate the victory.
no, its fine. If you where not talking about the Dragon Slayer armor I would have assumed Artorias but without context it was a bit confusing.
I guess, you are right. I personally don't really let it bother me.
I am trying to avoid too many spoilers but I am optimistic. Then again I wasn't that disappointed with DkS3 or the Ashes DLC. Yes the Ashes dlc was short but it was quality content.
that would be cool as shit. I still think a chalice dungeon expansion back would be nice. Something that would spice it up. The idea was great conceptually but there was little to no variety aside form bosses to make them interesting. If there was way more room types and thematic aesthetics changes to them I would have a ball playing RNG BB. The problem with chalice dungeons was that once you did one of each type you basically did them all and their was not enough "set peace" rooms. More of (pic related) could have made them into something interesting to explore. Seriously the idea was great, "Diablo meats Dark Souls" could have been a full blown game in itself.

could

IIRC some NG+ things wouldn't appear with a ascetic, like the Sinner's pyro gank squad. You could still get the Lord Soul off her though.

I mentioned that boss to say it would be my favorite DaS3 boss if it weren't for the pilgrim butterflies taking potshots.

I love the new weapons but the PvE was a bit disappointing for me mostly because the areas felt a bit dull. I like the Corvian Settlement but it's pretty short. Admittedly, I didn't get any mileage of the arenas.

Yup. Every damn layer had the garden with a fat guy, a knight, a maiden, a Keeper + 2 dogs and ayyy centipedes. Randomly generated, my ass. There were some interesting rarities though like one crawling with Cainhurst knights (and interestingly, it's where I found the ring of betrothal).

I've been saying Dark Souls could get a lot more traction if it had some kind of chalice dungeon type thing, especially with how the arena functions. You could warp to the dungeon and just fight various knights and witches and get cool shit. Maybe even get multiples of boss souls since in 3 you can make multiple boss weapons. Chalice dungeons aren't the best, but going down through them even on different characters is really fun, especially with jolly cooperation.
