I didn't like AVP2010 that much because the campaigns felt all the same to me and much of the marine campaign felt like a generic shooter of the time.

It does do some things right, like the predator gameplay and gore. Also the second(?) marine level where you enter a nightclub hive and have to fight off xenos to flashing neon lights and this music was really fucking noice.

I liked lot how the basic stuff felt. The xenomorph has a very nice feel to it even if it should be able to reach higher top speeds. Too bad the levels are few and extremely limited.

I personally enjoyed the game a lot, though felt that there was a missed opportunity in letting 6 learn the Acid Spit, which could have worked via health as ammo, meaning you stay secluded and lob it and move to recover your health.

That said, I really don't have many complaints, other than the campaigns feeling rather short. 6 doesn't even partake in the pyramid temple interior.

I've not tried the new online play yet. one thing that annoyed me back in the day was cloaked predators standing perfectly still and sniping people with the dart gun. couldn't see them and couldn't motion tract them. pretty much impossible to find them as a human.

I saw Prometheus when it came out and thought it had some neat stuff that was ultimately ruined by the bad writing and obviously missing content because Fox are retards that ruin everything. However, I had never seen any of the proper Alien films (saw AVP1 and Predator films) until last year when I finally decided to binge watch them all.

Watching Alien made me realize Prometheus was just a remake/reboot and the characters being completely retarded was a feature, not a bug. In order for shit to go tits up in Alien, they had to be written so stupid that they don't follow any sort of proper quarantine on the guy that got facehugged. Overall I just didn't really like it.

Aliens was a much better film just purely for plot alone. Yeah it was an action film instead of a horror film but at least it kept the retard levels down. Countless video games have ripped off elements of that movie over the decades, which is why Alien video games feel played out - because we've seen it before in other games.

I didn't like that the opening of Alien 3 completely shits all over the ending of Aliens. Made that movie feel like a waste of time. The rest of the plot was OK in of itself because they were able to go back to having a single Alien be a huge threat that requires a lot of effort to kill. I watched the theatrical releases of Alien/s but for Alien 3 I watched the extended cut because I read online that the theatrical version was botched hard (what a surprise).

Anyone willing to play AvP2010 co op thing with the wave base survival? I have had this game for a while since I bought it for like $2.50 a while ago. It would be pretty fun to play with someone.

Ripley was stronk because she was a competent woman that wanted to make it back home to meet her daughter, she wasnt an "empowered wymmyn" sjws like to force so much nowadays.

The first time I played through 2010 I felt is was just okay. Then I played through the Marine campaign using only the pistol and it was extremely fun and satisfying.

It wasn't even explained what the black goo is, and you'd only find out from cut material and tell you what that bizarre intro was about. The goo is the ultimate super science genetic engineering mutating agent, it essentially does creationist styled guided evolution to achieve a "programmed" form. The programmed form in question is whatever is first imprinted (first contact) to the goo before exposure to anything else then it will change, mutate, and adapt everything to become the imprinted organism as closely as possible.

The only good thing that can possibly come out of this shitfests is a sequel to Alien Isolation.

a RPG simulator that's open world where you can play as either a wayland employee, colonal marine, predator or xenomorph. each side has their over all goal with lots of sub goals

It came out after the first godawful AvP movie and had the same aesthetics and storytelling.
It was a step backwards compared to AvP2 and lacks content.
Since fucking forever fans of AvP want to see the Setting more explored, yet AvP2010 just gave us the standard shit we have already seen a thousand times.
Its mediocrity killed other more amazing Alien and AvP Games in the making.

I have to admit, the idea of mixing Aliens and a forest seems decent, but that trailer is meh. Also looks like they don't focus on the forest.

They don't have the movie set in a forest because they have great ideas, they have it set in a forest because it is cheaper than building huge sci-fi sets and creating a alien planet with CGI. Same shit happened to the Alien vs. Predator movie, first movie takes place in a huge Predator temple in the antarctic, only for the second movie to be playing in some generic US town.

and that's not to mention that predators are broken as fuck and the maps are designed around the bloody marines meaning as a xenomorph at best you get some tunnel the predators can still use

it's funny though considering the first and second game were on a shoe string budget and aliens had a mixture of sets and scale models which were used in such a way that it's pretty hard to spot just which one is which

Seems like a simple yet fun idea. I really liked the 2010 version as you got the fun part of slinking on ceilings and walls and breaking lights and such, and it's a bitch to find out how to harvest all the people successfully.

People were especially pissed off at AvP 3 for not including a game editor, let alone the source code.
AvP 2 at least included the editor which spawned about 700 custom maps and a lot of mods like Payback Time.

I would post the links here so we can play some matches. But.. AvP 2 is shit for a lack of a better word. It's an arcade-y melee game focused on a Quake-style gameplay which does not allow for any other genres to pass through, there is no such thing as a slower gameplay in it.

Meanwhile Warcraft 3 and Starcraft 1 & 2 managed to create over 9000 maps each with their own differing genre, Despite everything being top-down. Its editor was much more powerful than SS13.

Everyone got so creative with those script triggers that they managed to create unique genres not normally possible in RTS.

I wish any of the PC-related games for AVP were simulators like Farcry, Fallout, GTA, etc. and the action-packed games were left in the hands of the arcades. ALL of the arcade aliens games were always good and a pleasure to play, even if all of them were short as hell.

This is a good point, Alien vs. Predator 2 and Natural Selection 2 came out in the same year. All around NS2 is the better Game.
