As a PLD I never really had to do much stance dance because I did fuck all DPS in the first place.

Grit is their Shield Oath. Darkside is their equivalent to Sword Oath. You can have both on at the same time when you pull and turn off Grit once you've got a solid hold on emnity.

Yes, DRK can actually pull some nice DEEPS (not as hardcore as WAR though) when out of tank stance and still keep aggro decently. Still you should be on grit pretty much always on bosses and only drop it when you aren't main tank or there's a mechanic that requires hard dps checks. Also never turn off darkside for any reason

Grit is your tank stance and the only stance dancing DRK does it toggling that on and off. You need it on for the emnity bonus, but for any fight where you're comfortable and know there aren't any big busters coming, you should try to keep it off at all times so long as you've secured your emnity lead.

Darkside is your DPS stance, and can be on regardless of Grit. You're expected to have 100% Darkside uptime in combat to be a good DK. In fact, most of your skills after level 30 flat out require it to be active, especially with Dark Arts being a thing. The main difference between a shit DRK and a good DRK is how well you manage your MP.

If you're shit, maybe. Outside of your opener (or if you start falling behind on emnity later in the fight) Grit should be treated as a defensive CD that doesn't actually have a CD.
DRK and WAR are pretty damn close.

You just lack a lot of your important moves until then. Basically lead shot is your best DPS move hands down. The combo with wildfire is good. And you need to get Blood 4 blood

If your dps teammates are anything past dogshit, you aren't going to hold aggro for shit without grit unless you blow provokes at every turn and spam the boosted enmity combo

Unless you're undergeared, two or three emnity combos at the start of the fight will give you enough of a lead to drop grit for a good long while. You'll have to dance back into grit during long fights if the DPS isn't shit, but any time you can spend out of Grit is time spent with a flat 20%(!) DPS boost on top of the gains you get from Blood Weapon. Even then, stance dancing only comes into play in harder fights or when you're playing with a premade. Only twice ever has someone in a pug forced me to dance back into Grit to hold emnity during a boss fight.

That said, dancing with Grit generally isn't worth the effort for trash pulls because they hit a lot harder and die a lot faster.

You need a large open map for world pvp to be enjoyable and reasons to cross it IE trade. It also helps if the playing field is more than just being stuck running around in land and if there are things you can do to actively protect yourself against gank squads.

Context: The tracking started after I noticed certain player archetypes being cycled through the guilds raid group more quickly than others.
The data tracked is race, gender, class and performance, I only ever do the tracking when i'm running with at least one other person so I can have confirmation or to counter any of my assumptions (I don't melee DPS, so my knowledge there is lacking.)
Performance is based on a 10 point system, starting at 5, adding points for "exceptional" actions (an excellent aether manipulation, or good use of pets) and subtracting them for stupid shit/flubbed mechanics (BLM not using transpose, not using positionals ect.) Anything 3 and below is shit, 7 and above is good. Of course the number can exceed 0 or 10, those are just soft caps, rounded up or down to at the end of the dungeon.
I also only track data on content from Dzmeal Darkhold and up, not because I don't see the fuck ups in lower levels, but I don't feel like there's enough mechanics in play over the course of the content to level out any spikes of genius or retardation.
Tracking occurs through both prebuilt parties, and dungeon finder on my home servers Sarganatas, Balmeme, and Tonberryl.

In the case where a player has greater percentage of completion towards crafting/gathering over combat classes, this can be a indicator of good performance if their combat classes are limited to 1-3 high leveled ones, or an indicator of poor performance in the case of all of them having a variety of levels (favoring the low end.) The thought being that some people who prefer/enjoy a particular combat class may pick up the other gathering ones as something to do during the "queue". Conversely people who focus on crafting/gathering will dabble in the combat classes without practicing/focusing on improving, in the second case.
This appears to also occur with people who have all combat classes maxed, it's a coin flip on their performance (without factoring race/gender). Likely the result of "trying to find something that fits" instead of dedicating themselves to a role until they fit it.

The race/gender data is pretty straight forward:
The genders seem to be even across all races, except for the ones that had the opposite gender added in ARR, namely fem roe and male c@, both of these race/gender combinations are the only ones with a 2 point gender difference, Female highlanders appear to be the same as Male highlanders.
(non-whole numbers we're rounded up to the nearest half-point)

The only other notes i'd like to make are reguarding Male AuRa of both clans and both genders of Duskwight elezen, I'm not sure if it's just because of the aesthetic of the races, but there's a tendency for a low average, with a few exceptional players.
In the case of Duskwight (this is conjecture) but it appears to be tied to the tattoos, the people without them are often fine players, but the people with them are topaz carbuncle cancer.
I have no idea what causes the sudden drop for male Aura, some have considered that they seem to be popular as alts, so maybe people don't take things seriously while goofing around on them?

I main Bard but I`ve grown more and more fond of healing. I have a White Mage at lvl 51 and love playing it. How do Scholar and Astrologian stack up agaisnt White Mage? Are they as fun to play?

WHM has high potency in both the healing and damage department, but lacks utility skills that SCH and AST have. SCH has shields + damage reduction skills and AST has cards that buff party members, damage reducing skills and their healing type depends on the stance they take, so they can apply regens or shields.
IMO SCH is the most fun the play as you need to be proactive with your shielding, debuffing and pet management.

nah, ive partied with several healers of all jobs who do well on controllers. it takes practice, since most of what youll be doing is going to become muscle memory

Nah there are plenty of good SCH's out there on controller, you just need to get familiar with the extra options that can make it easier for you like extended hotbars

You aren't playing BLM right unless you can keep enochian up 100% of the time from start to finish in any instance

Enochian naturally falls for a few seconds after your third F4 rotation. Additionally, there are portions of a fight where you can put it back up but the boss will go invulnerable or something for long enough that it's better to just wait for it to come back. Also Enochian isn't worth keeping up during AoE-heavy fights. Nice try though.

Most duties drop a small amount of them, and I think some hunts do too but it's not really worth farming those for lore unless you also want a lot of seals.
Aetherochemical dungeon has the best lore per clear ratio, giving you 150 per 20 minutes with a decent party

Practice your burst rotation. It's your bread and butter and what you'll be focusing on. While your explosive and other cds are down, you just play the proc game while you wait. It's a very easy class to play optimally or very close to it.

Pick up Conjurer when the story sends you to Gridania.
Focus on one class first, and then work on the others (+50% exp when leveling a class lower level than your highest.)
Attune to the Limsa Aetheryte so you can boat to boobfillia from the dock near the Arcanist guild instead of schlepping through Thanalan like a pleb.

Pick some nice glamor to become a good heaslut once you unlock that.

Flare, transpose, flare, hi-elixir or whatever gives enough MP for a third flare, then swiftcast flare.
Since they nerfed flare/holy way back before 3.0 there's been no point in a triple flare, really.

It's 80 max for umbrite which will mean that you're going to end up spening 12k lore at most. The bonus chance didn't get changed, so you may end up having to get 70 umbrite. Dance Magic Dance is one of the best leves for vilekin farming. Use your gc tokens on pnumbite or however you spell it. It's the 15 tokens you'll need for the i270 step.

The way it is right now you have tons of shitters wanting to get carried over and over again till they get the thing they want. Oh and don't forget they want to get carried as fast as possible too.

The whole point of the Anima weapon is to encourage people to do content so things never falls into irrelevancy. I can't really think of a solution that wouldn't defeat the whole purpose of why the weapon is such an extended piece of shit to get in the first place. It's really the players that fuck the whole system, IMO.

I can understand when you do stuff to get the anima faster, but begging around the fc to do a fucking leveling dungeon is just not understandable.

Precisely the reason I'm not in an FC, or bother associating myself with large groups. (Excluding the fact that I'm an Anti-social crab.) The only time I find begging for other players remotely accepted is when the queue times are unreasonable, which is usually the case for most DPS.
