kirby doing "taxes" could really be anything involving writing/signing.

It's your lines, they make it look traced due to their consistency and size. You want to either go so small you can barely see them, then add detail and shading for form, or vary the width where the light and shadow falls so the lines don't look boring and placed.

Try drawing where all the bones should be.
It's easier to notice problems then.
Also I've always liked those featureless, faceless pose drawings. I don't know why.

Just from a quick Googling I can see that what you've drawn looks essentially nothing like the character except from the head

I still don't believe you, show whatever layers over the ref you used you want. That Kitsune picture in particular. Traced city. Look at at the overlapping you manage to pull off(badly, but still…) with foreshortening in the leg and then then the flat, planes-less face. The head, which you didn't trace, is also waay tinier which is a huge tip off. Plus what user said below about lines, especially where you're confident versus where you're just tracing a vague contour. You're under structure/construction lines also are just bs, they don't relate to how you built the figure you drew.
Look you have some skill already, you're doing a good job trying different things, don't get lazy. You need to learn how to convey the shapes of the body in deep space- sometimes that means going back to breaking it down into boxes, cylinders and spheres and working with those basic shapes in different views and overlapping. Sucks to go back to basics at times but it's worth it. Twist a few cylinders and rectangular prisms in space and views without distorting them, then overlap them and twist the views all around. Then go back to Loomis mannequin or whatever mannequin you like to use. The effort is worth it!!

yeah, but I'm not paying for someone to tell me to watch youtube vids. They were mostly sketching ones I've seen before like proko etc or some related to rendering or linework where they never reveal their brush settings etc.
