I think Nintendo's lying about this not being a successor to the 3DS and the Wii U. I think the idea is to bring all their games into one centralized console, hence why the Switch is the "portable home console" experience. There's already games that only use the Switch's screen popping up.

I'm still surprised at the enhancements to the WiiU version, the draw distance is way farther out, the new colour grading looks nice as well. do the shadows still tick or is it smooth, it's smooth on the Switch version.

This game has ubisoft towers. The tower raises out of the ground, and marks a region of your map in your Sheikah Stone. Fuck. Oh and watch out for falling rocks.

There's some combat, but it's like Far Cry for toddlers. Yawn. Swordplay has not changed at all since Ocarina, you can use fire and your bow, and probably bombs… not that the enemies provide a challenge (yet). Far Cry 3 does what this game is trying to do better. What the fuck is Nintendo thinking? The dungeons better pick up the slack, or else. Link gets a chest for his trouble, I forget what's in the chest.

Dungeon music could not possibly be any more forgetable if it tried. Is at least ambient and relaxing… Actually, this game is putting me to sleep a bit. LoZ: Ambien Quest.

Shrine uses basic baby puzzles to introduce magnet, is over in less than 10 minutes, Link gets a mcguffin. Nice fucking shrine Nintendo. Magnet at least has potential for some actually good puzzles later, so we'll see.

Video 2-4, skimming through them. Puzzles with bombs, remote bombs on moving platforms, and a launching platform that you use to launch a bomb? Now this looks like Portal. All Nintendo has done is copy. Even the magnet reminds me of the Gravity Gun. This game is shitty Far Cry 3 overworld and shitty Portal dungeons. Literally play Far Cry 3 and Portal to get a better experience (and better graphics). Honestly that is my impression so far.

Some cooking is introduced outside the second shrine. MonHun cooking but simpler.

You fight a rock monster with a tumor out his head as a weak point. You can climb up and hit it or use your bow. He throws rocks and punches. Believe me, you have so many fucking healing items it is no challenge whatsoever. His attacks don't appear to hurt hardly at all. You get some ore and gems as loot for beating him. Shitty MonHun?

You get an object which can freeze moving platforms and moving objects temporarily. Freeze spinning platform, freeze boulder, break boulder while frozen. Simple shit.

Over 2 hours in of video, I'm skipping through it fast, it's the same shit. Puzzles are easy, enemy camps are easy, environment is boring and lacks interesting set pieces, shrines are small and boring, music is boring, resources are too plentiful for you to ever be in danger… I fucking hate this game. Far Cry 3 is 20x better than this. Portal is 20x better than this. This game is trash. At least, so far it is. Maybe it gets better somehow.

You get a deku leaf style power up ripped right out of Wind Waker. You can use it to glide around. Sort of like how you could do that in Far Cry 3, except Far Cry 3 was a good game.

There is a small town with uninteresting NPCs. You catch a horse. It is OoT horse-riding.

Great Fairy. She's a fat fuck.

Game's a disaster. Don't fucking bother. It sucks so hard. It copies other better games and fucks up the execution. Graphics are standard cel-shaded shit, nothing special, nothing a PS3 launch title couldn't do, and I'm sick of them already. Nintendrones are cucks, fuck this game, fuck you, fuck me, fuck life.

Oh and yeah if I didn't mention before, Zelda is the british voice. A spirit of her dad (the King) says she was the one communicating with you, so yes, Zelda is Emma Watson british. Enjoy the voice acting.

At least in say Majora I had to find hidden heart pieces (absent in BotW I think) and go buy potions. (In theory, I never bother with potions in the other Zelda games because there has yet to be a Zelda with challenging combat)

You can play all of it on a decent comp, yes. Emulators depend on processor power more than card power. Anything less than Gamecube could be run on a toaster, though, unless you want perfect accuracy emulation.

If I had to say what this console is in a single world it would be comfy. Everything fits snug and the build quality is pretty great. I was the fucker who got the external battery pack from Aukey and so far this thing is working like a champ as I have been able to go from 64% to 74% in 37 minutes while also playing Zelda the entire time in handheld mode. I bought FAST RMX as well and its great if you want to play with another friend. Said friend is getting a switch in the mail today and he bought 1-2 Switch so hopefully I can fuck with that and see if its worth getting when it goes down to 20 bucks.

Its a solid 7 or 8 in my book just sucks you only have a few games.

It looks like they added a bunch of decade old system found in other game and spread the distances between the actually handcrafted things with tons of filler like almost all modern open world games do. The switch is powerful enough that in terms of gameplay it isn't at all limited, it will definitely see good support from the Japanese devs that supported the 3ds, I'm unsure if third party niche Vita devs will move towards Switch, even though the only reason people buy the Vita at all are those devs themselves. The Switch won't receive support from companies that make visually complex PS4 titles, even though it will undoubtedly sell more than the PS4 itself in Japan within it's lifetime, so games in the vein of Nioh, Dark Souls, Way of the Samurai, Yakuza, Final Fantasy, Persona, Nier etc. will not ever make their way to the Switch. It will be the second best platform, behind the PC but it won't become the premier platform for Japanese games.

They have a 20 hour battery life, this is a situation that can be avoided for the most part.

I disagree. It's a necessity of design depending on the game and it can be implemented well.
Most of the journey you'll have across vast expands of land is not going to matter for the whole experience since it's just gonna be the same thing over a long period of time. Having the ability to skip that is like skipping cutscenes when you already saw them.

But it does fail when it removes the travel entirely from the game. Having to pay a fee, or time being a factor that's consumed by traveling or some other mechanism that gives depth to the traveling method is required, otherwise fast-travel is indeed a glorified loading screen.

That's because storage is scarce. That doesn't make the data itself scarce. And paintings, books and sculptures are definitely scarce. Those are not "data". Data is copyable information as stored. An image of a painting is data, but the panting itself is not. A book in digital form is data, but a physical book is not. This is not to say that you don't have to pay for the medium (such as a network connection, hard drive, or computer), but that the resource itself is unlimited. You could download a book as many times as you want and not run out of it, because data is nonscarce.
Also, information is nonscarce, but time is. So a teacher, for example, is being paid by basic competition to use their scarce time to share a nonscarce resource. nonscarce does not mean that a resource has no cost associated with delivery (delivery of literally everything has cost) but just that the resource itself will never run out.
