Then at one point it started playing an awesome theme, but next time I came back to the area it defaulted back to the old ambient shit. There's not even trophies for playing in different difficulties, I think you will win a few new game+ bonuses depending on difficulty but that's it. There's not even a trophy for completing all side-quests anymore, if you complete 80% of it that's good enough for the game. You don't lose anything by playing it on easy except your dignity.

Even with everything. The game's extremely rough around the edges. As an example, you have to enter a building, but you can't enter through the gaping gigantic hole in the wall due to an invisible wall, but you can go through the normal-sized door RIGHT NEXT TO THE HOLE. It's completely bonkers how much they didn't give a shit about those basic details. In the desert you can slide down sand dunes but they physics are so fucked you can do slaloms and travel up dunes while sliding.

This is not to say it's a bad game, I'm having a blast. But if you're AAA "muh cinematic experience" faggot who thinks TLOU is the the best game ever made, you'll think it's shit. Which come to think of it most people are, so it'll probably flop

Playing the demo, I've found that Hard is the most pleasant experience for me.
I was asking since it's usual for PG to put unlocks on harder difficulties, or change game play elements on the highest, as they did with Ultimate Climax and Revengeance difficulties in the respective games, which I greatly enjoyed.
I just want to avoid falling for a difficulty system like Persona 4's again, in which playing on anything above Easy is making your life harder for no reason at all, since the dungeon crawling is by far the worst aspect of the series.

I've had funs sitting in my asian PSN for years now waiting for use so it's not really a loss, at least that's what I tell myself. Have to justify my PS4 purchase as well because I didn't like Nioh, and the only remaining game after Nier will be Persona 5.

Been playing a bit more of the game tonight but I haven't got far. The game is as I was afraid. Enemies seem totally retarded so far. It really is Nier but with prettier combat. Most of what you're doing is exploring, which is nice I guess and fetch questing with mobs of trash enemies. It's kind of retarded about the difficulty of the prologue and lack of saves until after that point because you could do the rest of the game by just saving appropriately on Hard on a first playthrough. I've been autistically searching every corner since it paid off once at the beginning. Going to be a bit dickish remember where all the crates are that you can't unlock quite yet because then I'm going to have to explore everything twice. It's another Zelda derivative for sure, like original Nier. Actually makes me feel like Lightning Returns though, playing as Lightning-san with Hope as your little partner, skiing down the dunes.

It's a much better platform than nothing or a home grown solution for developers, when you release on Steam you get a lot of guarantees and bundled features. You don't have to host your own game or patches, you don't have to set up cdns across the world for it, you don't have to worry about global distribution and region pricing yourself, you don't have to roll your own drm system, you can hook into a platform that has the same features you hook into on consoles (achievements, friends lists, etc.), there's the Steam ecosystem that just comes with the platform too (each game has their own forum, community hub, workshop, review space, etc.), intigrated support for server browsing, screenshots, voice chat, and other things I'm forgetting. Valve is doing some very appealing things lately too such as their controller API which is really nice for devs and the players, neither of them have to worry about supporting a device or using a supported device, it should all just work as Valve themselves add support and that should work independent to the game, this has been a major complaint on both sides for a while now that they're addressing generally so developers don't have to keep reimplimenting it for all their games or ports. On the business end it's appealing too since they're the most popular marketplace, the only thing you have to lose is the percentage Valve takes for the previously mentioned features.

I never really understood the innate hatred towards Steam since it's always been convenient for me but to each their own, however looking at it from a perspective outside a consumer there's hardly anything bad to say about Steam and it continues to be more appealing to developers as Valve adds more and more features to it (one less thing for them to write/maintain themselves). I'm personally pleased to see this too since things like this are the reason people target consoles anymore anyway, they couldn't care less about the underlying hardware they just want guarantees like knowing controllers will work or that servers will be up, that you can join your friends match using the platforms standard way of doing so, etc. It's no surprise that developers and publishers are gravitating towards a standard, stable, mature, and growing platform that now even spans across multiple operating systems.

I hope that doesn't sound too shill like, it's just my observations on it and the current industry. I know people will be mad anyway.

The problem with Steam and the reason it gets a lot of flak is because, at it's core, it's DRM.
There's a guy here that will come in and bitch about "Steamworks is the DRM, Steam is a software distrubution tool" and he's correct, but overall it doesn't matter since the great majority of games released on Steam come with Steamworks, that being one of the advantages to use, so why not?

The idea that Steam might go one day and seriously screw all it's customers really isn't that much worrying. Cracks do exist and if such a thing were to happen, they'd most likely warn people and give them a week or more to backup everything. You'd just download all the games you want to save, store them somewhere and apply a crack or some fix\patch they'd give out.

The serious problem is exactly the oposite. What if Steam never goes away but everything else does?
We still have GOG, and now there's Origins, UPlay (but those are terrible) and there's Itch.io, I think? But what if they go the way that Desura went and disappear?

1. The pirates, which I can relate since I don't want to spend 60 bucks on an average tittle at best and later be milked with DLC.
2. Consumer advocates, which I can also relate since you don't "own" the game on Steam (contrary to GOG which gives you an executable and that's it). If you're banned from Steam or for some unfortunate reason Valve closes shop 10 years from now all your games will be lost. There's also the fact that monopoly is never good, since it gives Steam greencard to pull any kind of abusive policy.

It's somewhat ironic that I like seeing games use Steamworks over their own DRM simply because it's easy to bypass.

Although they dominate on the PC they still have to compete with consoles for now and seemingly the future. The bulk of PC players seem to be the pragmatic type, despite there being the vocal stereotype culture that has cropped up in the last few years (le master race xd), with that in mind they'd be the kind of people to jump ship if their platform stopped being practical for one reason or another, that is to say to another platform, marketplace, or both.

I think monopolies are a big concern in general however I don't think it's an issue for video game platforms and marketplaces right now, competition seems as fierce as ever. Perhaps I'm being naive but the hypothetical future people fear doesn't seem likely to me at all, it just seems too easy for someone to dethrone them if they fuck up, such is the way of the free market. Like you mentioned too some people have other priorities and some entrepreneurs (GoG, Humble Store, Itch, et al.) are already taking advantage of this, carving a niche into the market despite Valve's existing foothold. They have the edge for consumers but also are undercutting Valve in some markets too which is a nice incentive for publishers.

I'm not trying to make a point here either, just voicing opinions and perspective again. I could be wrong and things could go bad for people, personally I'm pretty content right now and actually hopeful for the future of this platform and market, I just hope Valve remains (what I see as) benevolent.

I mentioned above in this post my thoughts on the Steamworks DRM. It may not remain this way but for right now it's been alright to me. Piracy or legitimate I prefer DRM free like most people and luckily that is an option for developers on Steam although it's not as common unfortunately, but like I said before, with Steamworks it may as well be DRM free.

I feel real bad about this in general, even outside of Steam. I feel like consumer rights in regards to video games declined and remained in the pits for many years now, it's pretty terrible and I'm disgusted at all the anti-consumer business tactics used all around; few demos, strict if any refund policies, questionable DLC and "micro"-transaction content. People wonder why others pirate first when it's the only option for a responsible consumer, you have no other choice if you want to make sure your money goes to people who actually deserve it and doesn't get locked up with someone who doesn't. But that is a whole other topic entirely. For now I'm just glad that some developers and publishers are considering this market where they may not have before because I like this platform and want to play these games like everyone else. I tend to really hate exclusivity as I see that as a terrible anti-consumer tactic as well, takes the choice away from players and either locks them out of a game or locks them into a platform, nobody wins. Everyone should be allowed to play with this cute robot, as long as they're not rude.

Since 2B is actually 2E but in the opening there's 7E in the squadron 2B is in and 2B refers to them as 7E when they go down. Anybody here feel the combat mechanic kinda weird? even for a platinum game. Theres 2 attack button, light attack and heavy attack, pretty common but its depend on what weapon equip at that specific button. Example you put a sword on light attack and barefist on heavy attack, you can only do light attack when using the sword. You can't do light+heavy attack combo with one weapon even though each weapon have its own L and H attack. For me, its a bad design to locked the attack button to a weapon, why not just switch what weapon you use to so you can make a combo with that weapon. I know theres a "weapon set" which you can switch on the fly but that is for you to carry 4 type of with you, even then its not a really a combo since you need to switch the weapon placement from light attack to heavy attack. Just a heads up for peoples that are used to playing action game.

I think it's meant to be close in that moment, it's not like that in any other fights. You just have to avoid the ground waves anyway, and you use the minimap to find the crucified androids

I played literally 6 hours ago. I set the console into rest mode, the power goes out while I sleep. I wake up and I can't start the game from my primary profile because it is owned by my hong kong profile, and that profile doesn't have the console as primary. I'm confused at this point because I set the console as primary not two days ago. I go into the settings and sure enough, it's not. I can't set it because another console is primary. I check the PSN profile and under connected devices I can't disconnect because "I recently used this service".

So either someone broke into my account and set their console as primary on my PSN or Sony's services somehow fucked up due to the power outage. In any case the only free day I got in the week I can't play now until Hong Kong fucking support comes back online in ~8 hours.
