Grim Dawn tbh

Wait what, you actually corrected it?
Also patch notes tomorrow GET HYPE

Even a retard will learn eventually.

I've been thinking about the different kinds of mitigation mechanics. While obviously theorycrafters have proven ES to be the easiest and best builds, I thought more about the design philosophy.

You have three different ways to reduce damage: avoiding it all together (eva), reducing the amount incoming (armor/res), and increasing the resource pool (es/hp). I can't really prove it, but mathematically improving one will also make the other two better, in a way similar to how you want roughly equal amounts of increased/more multipliers since they're quadratic in nature.

Basically, because of how armor rating and evasion rating taper off, you want some but you don't want to stack up an excessive amount. I think this is why they made Granite and Jade flasks - so that any build can have a reasonable quantity of these mitigations while focusing on the other mitigation sources. For example, you have 25% armor and 30% evasion while flasking - that's way easier to get via utility than wasting points on off-build nodes.

The other thing is how evasion works. By itself, evasion is shit. Because of how their rolling counter works for hits, you will get hit every X% of the time: but that's only for evasion. Dodging and blocking are raw RNG and don't use a counter or pseudo-RNG to function. You still get hit, but having 50% dodge or 50% block means you will literally double the effectiveness of your evasion chance (from an appropriate source). Again, if you don't have evasion on your build, you can flask - Jade will give you base 3000, which is decent, and a Stibnite will blind melee-range enemies reducing their accuracy by half (not their hit chance, but it's better against low-accuracy enemies).

And then, this is why I think ES regen delay and speed exists. If you go into ES/EVA hybrid, you can expect to get hit every N times, and it allows you to make ES regeneration function more like HP regeneration.

Mos' def', fam.

This comic has no reason to exist, but I am glad it does.

You mean "Take a deep breath before screaming incoherently for three weeks".

grim dawn or this? I unknowingly finished grim dawn with that shit of an ending. I thought I was still on a quest to find that shady looking guy but someone posted here on Holla Forums that the dialogues didn't mean shit and the game actually ended with the final boss.

I played grim dawn for the sole purpose of the laser skill
I liked it

Can't wait for the Searing Touch at level 12 again :^)

Stop talking about things you dont understand.

I'm talking about it from a game design standpoint, not from a min/max one.

I said this in the first sentence. Reading comprehension, user.

You dont know mechanics after randomin poe. You dont know mechanics about damage migitation. You dont know difference between regen and recharge. You dont know that evasion provides crip protection. You dont know anything so stop talking. And you dont even thought about block and dodge and resistance and "phus taken as element" and other shit. Not to mention that its impossible to talk about "this is always the best for everything".
Armor works only if you have a lot of it.

I take it english is your second or third language?

Untrue, armor is highly inefficient in huge amounts, especially consider it will never mitigate more than (your armor)/10.

I have bad news for you.

So for the upcoming League, what's a good first character for a former D2 player?

Why not fuck around with a game bit now? Your first guy is gonna be garbage and need to be remade anyways

Kinda have been, but I'm looking for a little direction on which starting class to fuck with. I know it just determines your starting position on the passive skill tree, but still, what's a decent route to begin with?

what's a good totemfag build i want to be a totemfag build for the upcoming league that i want to be a totemfag build for does anyone know

You need to learn how spell tags and modifiers work so you don't throw a hundred points at shit that doesn't affect your build.

Look at pic related, for example. It's generally a shitty meme niche weapon that nobody uses, but it illustrates my point. Anything that says "Dual Wielding" or "Axes" or "Two Handed" will affect it on the passive tree, such as damage, attack speed, or crit chance. However, "one handed" will not (even though dual wielding needs two one-handed weapons)

Anyways, ES is best form of mitigation, and you want to avoid +resist% nodes because you get those from gear. Avoid nodes that add just 8% to damage - try to get 10% or even 12% nodes to general types (eg Physical Damage is better than "Physical Damage with Two-Handed Weapons". Likewise, Life should be taken at +5% nodes or more. Survivability is key, you want about 5000 HP+ES by level 68 and 135% resist all.

Also, always take a Jewel slot if it's 2 nodes away, and it's sometimes okay to grab the lesser valued nodes if it leads to an important notable passive (the big ones in a group). You don't necessarily always want to take the whole group - generally the shortest path to the biggest nodes that add the most.

Play around with say, up to level 40 and share what you get, we can help.
poeplanner.com/

Also, when itemizing and shit, be aware of the difference between "increased/decreased" and "more/less". You want to try to have increased and more at roughly the same amounts, because of quadratic improvements. Having both at say, +30% yields 1.69x more, which is easier than getting 69% from one source, for example.

More multipliers stack, as the name implies, multiplicatively. Not additively, like increases do.

3 threads in and you finaly got it right, user im proud.

Can anyone give me a newfag rundown of the AoE changes happening in 2.6?

...

Yeah m8 I'm a newfag to this game and I don't understand why people are flipping the fuck out.

In 90% of instances it is a nerf. The short of it is they are trying to discourage just stacking aoe increases by changing scaling so that it has more diminishing returns the more you get. People are upset because it is a very broad nerf to a lot of skills that probably didn't need it such as a number of melee skills which were already very weak.

I am of the camp of fuck it, the game has a ton of power creep anyway, bring it on.

Melee skills being melee ranged again, many spells got their AoE reduced. A lot of them now give +radius every 2, 3, 4 and 5 lvls.
GGG is beginning to fix the "press button whole screen dies" retarded meta that's been going on for some time.
Projectile skills are unaffected and looking to be pretty strong this league.

I'm going to miss my screen wide shock nova.

What if she had a big, red, juicy cock under that?
That second set of tits would cancel out the gayness of the dick.

Hey, thanks for the level headed rundown's. I appreciate it.

More uniques buffed

Where did you get that from?

Also

I idle on the PoE discord. Don't spread my shame

Too late

...

What happened to "MJOLNIR KILLS OUR SERVERS FAM"? And lel brain rattler still has chance to flee, AND they reduced the aoe of almost everything. You don't even get to take advantage of bleed because it converts half of your phys to lightning. At least it converts fully converts your damage by itself for lightning strike.

They basically made it dual wield in one hand now. 5k life and 'more' damage. Even if they go pop, beacon of corruption and minion instability will do the work.

250ms cooldown.

It's still not great, The proc rate for the lightning skill is still nerfed, the only change was the 100% increased lightning spell damage, which is honestly still pretty lackluster.

I'm just glad my first build won't be cucked by the AoE changes since it's icestorm and low AoE is desirable

I'm sorry to tell you this but armor is VERY effective against physical damage when you have HUGE amounts of it
but it still won't save you from getting buttfucked by the minotaur if you only have 3k total HP

Base AoE for spells doesn't change. Also concentrated effect being area instead of radius means you won't have a quadratic relationship for it either. In other words, you're getting nerfed too, retard.

#1 Base AoE does change for spells
#2 low AoE is desirable so that isn't a nerf

After messing around with Icestorm from 40-60, it feels like I am more accurate with increased radius.

I am aware of how the skill works.

90% more damage = 1.9 damage
50% zombies * 1.9 =0.95 damage and no juicy necro passives for number of zombies
That only works for bleed. In other cases it only makes killing them harder.

Indeed, MORE is always multiplier.

Any caster.

Exponential growth with increasing radius means exponential fall with decreasing radius. Linear growth with increasing X means linear fall with decreasing X. In other words, you are either getting fucked like everyone else or things don't change for you in the slightest, but you most definitely aren't getting a buff.

OK. You keep saying this as if it's news to me, despite at no point contradicting me.

Based on what they said its supposed to be buff for people who dont invest into all the aoe passives. But every skill has less radius in the end. Only people who will invest more will lose more. But I guess it was kind of meaningless to have every skill hit everyone on screen. Even if the whole point of the skill was to hit everyone on screen.

By replying with "low AoE is desirable", you are implying that it will somehow lower your area, which it very clearly won't. It's like saying that it's not illegal to go fast after being stopped by a police officer, technically you are right but generally the context you say that in has significance for the meaning you convey.

Starting AoE is either larger or the same for almost all skills that had their values changed. If I remember correctly, the only one that got it reduced was EQ.

Well it will, most likely the base radius will be lower (as most skills shown so far have), but even if it doesn't concentrated effect will most likely influence it more.

The point I have been trying to make is that concentrated effect will have LESS of an influence. That is why I drew the graphs, they are to show that the area reduction is likely to be smaller, since I doubt they would try to nerf concentrated effect after already having nerfed area of effect as a whole.

I bet they will nerf old aoe skills just to introduce new ones which will be in every way better. Also by nerfing aoe skills they indirectly buff all projectile skills. Therefore be ready for a whole league filled with vaal spark builds.

It's like you want to waste currency

it killed servers because it triggered 50 spells a second, which is just stupid. i expected them to just increase the damage of triggered spells when they increased the cooldown and now they finaly have. maybe its actualy a good weapon again.

I don't think that's how gay works, user.

It will likely have more of an effect as changes to areas on smaller radius skills have a larger effect.

I dont even know what I have. Its faster to purchase new shit instead of sorting out old.

Effective build>cheap build. However I will use simple chaos occultist build.

I haven't played this game since whenever they added wild strike. How many more layers of RNG have they added since?

Essences slightly reduced the amount of RNG involved in crafting rares by being able to craft a rare with a single guaranteed mod, which are generally the type of shit you can add to your gear yourself with the exception of a few that you can only get through essences.

None I think. Its less random if anything. With cards/loot from certain areas/mob types/league modifiers you can farm what you want, more or less. And yes essences. However they removed snapshot orbs.

Oh right and Masters were added, each with their own specialisation. Levelling your masters by doing quests for them whenever you find them in an area will let you craft certain types of mods onto your gear, with the more specialised ones (ie. shit you can only get from masters) being locked behind higher master levels. It helps cut down on the need to get the perfect RNG, since you can craft something with not that many mods and then add whatever mods you want to in the remaining place.

Plus prophesies let you do a 5/6l with a single orb. But they cost a little cheaper than doing it yourself or with master. But its 100% chance.

Also

Here I go

Well it's just a regular corrupt.
Boring.

for what purpose?

You always max quality on a Tabula before science, for good luck

Here I go.

you're fucked

735 673 644 5l
and 460 for 6l

Orly?

>get a prediction of 4.5k hp at best not counting MoM mitigation
>8.2k ES again not counting MoM mitigation
… Guess I'm rolling ES for a league starter, its not like you can get pretty retarded ES early on thanks to Essence still feels kinda weird

you lucky motherfucker, I swore off trying to 6l shit after I spent like 4k fusings once.

only 400 fusings later. Thank god you paid for that premium stash tabs or else those would've taken up a ton of room!

It's like you want to be forced to stop playing the game before maps.

I never really liked MoM, since it only happens after ES is gone. Still, I guess it's a good mitigation… is it mostly used in hybrid builds, then?

MoM is probably just bad tbh, but I'm sure it could be decent with heirophant's 50% reduced mana cost.

If they confirm Legacy Cloak of defiance I'm going life and getting that

yeah mostly for hybrid but I'm mostly banking on the extra mana nodes they're supposedly adding behind MoM traps can be really expensive yo it all depends on how much extra mana I'll get from that

Its pretty much impossible to hold currency without them.

It also took like 10-20 jews for 6 sock.

The problem with mom is its poor synergy with life. 15% more ES on CI gives you 15% more ES without any problem. And considering that its mucheasier to reach good ES levels than HP it makes its pretty useless. If you go hybrid with mom you are losing on ES regeneration/ES leech/auras. And hybrids have less hp+es than pure ES build. And they forced to use whatever they have. So you need to have a lot of mana, but mana is used by auras. You need to have good HP pool, but HP scales from str and mana from int. Guardian seems good for it since it can utilize mana into ES with auras, but mana also serves as your additional hp so you cant.
And its not like manapool + hp pool is bigger than average ES pool.
pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Esh's_Visage
You probably can use this for it if you really want to.

See, there's a ton of +mana% and +regen nodes, and I've never seen a build take advantage of it. It's a shame too, because it's probably a really good mechanic waiting for the right things to enable it. Everyone just gets reservation and reduced/alt costs

As a brand new player what are the seven most important things for me to do?

HP+MANA+ES on hybrid build is less than average ES on ES build. However you can use spectrum jewels to build around that, but again, you will use guardian that convents 25% of reserved mana into ES directly. And it will be pure CI build to maximize effectiveness of that.
pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Grand_Spectrum

1: Use a super cheap easy AFK totem build to get to A4M and farm dried lake.
2: Basically every unique you'll find is hot garbage
3:If you're serious about playing you need to buy a currency tab with real money
4: If you're gonna trade you'll need a premium tab.
5: Evasion is just a fancy word for "stack HP"
6: Armor is just a fancy word for "stack HP"
7: Mitigation is pretty useless on the whole stack HP or energy shield

please, I've had all my currency in 1 or 2 regular tabs since open beta, and the couple of leagues I actually tried to get rich 2 was enough.

See that sounds like a fun thing to do, but then it needs a ton of uniques, which is lame

Install good lootfilter and tools for trading.

Spectrums cost like nothing and guardian is a pure aura build. But most likely will need Shavs for it.

pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1839224
Tedious as fuck challenges for legacy league.

you can blow through the first 24 of those with ease. its the last 12 that are going to be a bitch.

Oh hey shit, Talismans are back, good I never had any

Feels bad man

Yeah those are way better than Breach's. Still a ton of RNG shit with needing to have specific mobs spawn, but no where near the level of bullshit that were Chayula breach spawns.

that you know of. we still don't know how often leaguestones will drop

1 per location or 1 per 2 locations, as usual for league specific stuff.

What kind of shit do I get on a Deadeye to not die? LL? I don't expect to go into ES on them.

I also have a few different bows, I see I can basically go elem or phys. What's better? Chaos feels nicer since it can't get reflected, and I could use my Voltaxic Rift… Crits, cast on crit maybe? I could also do dots with fire/bleed/poison

yeah but I bet some leagues like nemesis or perandus are going to have the rarity of a unicorns fart.

meanwhile trashleagues like breach will be falling all over the place.

Armor is only effective in huge amounts. PoE has some mechanic where the percentage of mitigation depends on your armor rating vs the size of the blow, so low amounts of armor are pretty worthless.

If you want you can just stack endurance charges for your physical resistance though. Those things are reliable.

lots of life, acrobatics, vaal grace, stibnite flask and a kintsugi

Do I want +evasion nodes at all? Or just life?

the life nodes that are available to you have evasion, and I hear that part of the tree is getting some love next patch so they're going to be worth picking now, I bet.

you only take evasion nodes if you absolutely have to take them to get to somewhere else on the tree or if they come attached to life nodes

I'd blame GGG, since they communicated it as
but when doing the math people found out that any AoE spell that wasn't specifically buffed to compensate the changes was nerfed which goes against the "Builds that didn't go all-in on AoE are generally helped somewhat." line.

Also a lot of the spells that got hit by this change didn't deserve to be hit, or does anybody think that Flame Surge, Lightning Tendrils and Ice Nova were just clearing way too fast?

Holy shit, pretty much every single one of those is easy as fuck

timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?iso=20170301T16&p0=22&msg=Content Update 2.6.0 Patch Notes&font=cursive

So why the fuck is Energy shield best defense? I have eavsion boss oneshots me. I have defense boss oneshots me. I have energy shield boss need to fucking hit me at least 5 times but by then i have already full energy shield.

Evasion is going to one day roll bad vs that 1 shot.
Armor does nothing vs elemental 1 shots.
ES can get to higher levels than straight HP, to the point where you can't get 1 shot

Not always.

pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1839765
Patch Notes.

Pyre: Cold Damage converted to Fire Damage mod reduced to 40%.

Guess I have a ring slot free now.
Also looks like CtF and AoF are the way to go.

So they're equipment. Awesome.

Godfucking dammit, I wanted to try an anime weapon this league, guess not
I can still try a classic summoner with the buffed uniques I guess

Overall p gud

Wait
She has crafting mods for maps, in addition to the map device's shit?

They are talking about the map device when they say Zana mods. Like adding beyond or perandus to the map for a few chaos/vaal. Since those league mechanics are coming back in the form of leaguestones they are making the map device mods different.

Oh okay, thank god. I'm not an expert at this game, I know my way around, but I was about to be pissed that I could have missed out on a better mapping experience for two years, ha.

Guess I'll just roll arc crits next league, seemed to work well to start out

Great. And I sold old one for less than 200c.

...

Is Cyclone still good ?
Its my only surviving build atm, at about level 83-85 can't remember exactly.

No. Lacerate is better.

aoe scaling on tree got gutted, the screenwide cyclone dream is dead

and double dipping is still alive for another 3 months

guess ill give it a try while it is still around

Drillneck: Projectile damage is now increased by 50% of Arrow Pierce chance. This affects existing versions of the item.
General changes are meh. At least some useless items are less harmful. Like these boots which were worse than average rare and had "20% increased phys damage taken". Why the fuck they made uniq item with huge negative effect and worse positive effects than average rare item in 1st place?

The original idea was that good rares would be the default best-in-slot equipment and most uniques would just be for leveling or weird shit to enable weird builds.

At least that's what I remember the original idea being, I don't remember where I got it from though.

Double dipping is nice, but I think Magma Totem chain totems is underappreciated

Original droprate for uniq items was one item per 2 mouths of playing.

nomic's storm gave 40% increased movement speed, aside from darkrays and 7 league steps these are the highest movespeed boots available, they're fine for leveling if you know what you're doing, just don't do lab with them on.

Still waiting for that optimization update

Now hold on a second user, there's plenty of QUALITY, expertly theorycrafted totem builds available. I like to call these The Touhou, and The Chessmaster.

Note that my character is specialized into fire damage so the ball lightning build isn't as optimal as it can be, in particular the subpar clear times. However, with lightning warp, it can kill a rare on merciless so it is Ledge viable.

when are double shield builds going to be an option?

Use poe smoother google it. It helped me alot. The loading times are now in second when i have disabled all shadows and ligthing. Then i have reducet all projectiles and this game is 900fps at any given time.

CI Wild Strike Reflect Immune Elementalist is meta now.

How does flameblast totem work? I mean flameblast is skill and totem is another skill how do i like together those two?

Spell totem support gem linked with flameblast. Then you have a totem that will channel flameblast until max stacks, blows it and repeats.

That's awesome. I will try this in 2.6

Does faster cast affect this? Seems like it's a hella long time to get max stacks in a game where you can the mobs dead yesterday.

Yes, casting speed affects how quickly stacks are added, one per cast.

faster casting does affect it and it is in fact one of the best ways to level fast. there are videos of people getting to level 70 in 6 hours with flameblast or bladefall totems.

that would be the shit. i love wildstrike, but its so hard to make viable.

never because thats retarded. and somethig i would love to try.

Jesus

Do you just grab the gems or does it need any setup?

...

It now converts 100% of physical. So you can level it purely with elemental damage. So everything from the elementalist affects wildstrike. You can start with elemental hit and/or some spells until you get the skill points you need.

Who cares? I haven't had any interest in D3 from its announcement.

pretty sure it's required to shit on D3 in poe threads. blizzard's pretty much abandoned D3 anyway

Well they started it by creating Diablo1.
It should be obligatory for us to shit on them for purposefully abandoning a formula they created.

I need one of you jews to teach me about how to appraise Items for selling. How do you know which mods are worth more than other's.

Just like sell good ones

poeaffix.net/
The higher level the mod roll is, the more valuable. The more valuable mods you have on an item, the more valuable the item is. At some point exponentially so.
Then search for similar items on poetrade (ignore the first dozen or so results) to get a feel for how much people sell these things for.

...

Yeah that is why you should shit on them. They are shitting on Blizzard North.

I mean to say even in huge amounts. Armor will never mitigate more than (your_armor)/10 worth of damage, meaning to mitigate a slam from lategame stuff for, say, 10k, you'd need 100k armor. Or you could just run 4 END charges or a basalt flask and already get better results.

To my understanding you still mitigate part of the damage, just no more than that number.

Patch notes are missing some things like the minior shrine bonus on The Gull.

I wonder if there are any more mechanics like that missing from the patch notes.

There's a slight compromise with Advancing Fortress, although that is really just a claw with block chance and not actually a shield.

Supposedly there were buffs to Ice Shot and Frost Blades that were in the manifesto a week ago, that do not appear in the patch notes.

So it's definitely possible it is missing things.

Like Vessel of Vinktar's leech reduced to 5%.

I really hope that they didn't revert the frost blades buff, I wanted to try something with dual Ewar's Mirage swords

four boobs

I honestly think they are avoiding gutting that piece of shit because they are going to change leech mechanics in some way for 3.0 in order to reign back in how prevalent it has become with Vaal Pact and with Ghost Reaver. Otherwise I have no idea why they just fucking buffed Carnage Heart into the stratosphere.

But they've buffed leech this path (node leech leeches on attack instead of phys damage now)

Maybe some kind of satiation mechanic that limits the amount you can leech within a certain time span and then you have to wait for it to go down again before you can start leeching again.

Like you can leech up to you total life worth but when you keep leeching after that, the satiation won't go down and you have to wait 4 seconds or so for it to start going down at a rate.

So with Vinktar it's more an emergency leech to top you off and not a faceroller.

Thinking of Occultist wand Witch… I heard you can cheese with Barrage and Poison, which seems appealing.

How much should I focus on +physical damage? It seems important, because it makes crits bigger, and poisons stronger. Wands also have an added elemental damage theme going on, which seems easy enough to drop 5-10 points and enable pretty much all damage types.

I feel like that would fundamentally break leech though. That would punish you for doing damage at full life which is a bit weird. unless I am not understanding you correctly

You don't leech at full life as the leech ends when you reach full life, so it never starts. Endless hunger from the slayer may just completely skip that mechanic or add that while you still leech at full life, you don't gain any satiation from it.

Wands work almost like facebreaker. +flat phys damage is the core of the build. Also crit is very nice. Best bey probably would be investiment in everything for a bit so you could multiply your damage. a bit of wand phys damage(I mean from passives) all of the "additional damage of element/chaos", crit chance(or power charges) crit damage and elemental damage+chaos damage. Shadow nodes are good for it.
Fast wand is better.

Okay I think I get you now. Though I'm still not keen on that, it feels a little too close to energy shield recharge for my taste.

Well, satiation would go down when you avoid taking damage and thus no longer need leech, it also goes down while you take damage on energy shield. So it would be a passive boost to block, dodge, evasion and hybrid builds.

Guess Marauder is a bit out of luck there, though one could add some mechanic to lust for carnage notable for example, that helps him with that.

pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1840246

JSON data posted for the passive tree. Emmitt's and Path of Building should get updated soon I hope, as well as the online planners.

As /agdg/, I'm stealing these sprites

So which skill should i use? Which one got most buffed?

...

Effectiveness is dropping but in general its good to have some. It mostly depends on clearspeed and other factors. Generally its what you feel most comfortable with, since most of damage will come from ignite anyway. And you only need cast speed for pizza totems to be able to reach 10 stage before it expires.

check this if you want to make some money, it's a good guide

what the fuck does FCR mean?

faster casting i guess

So for the upcoming leage I'm thinking of making a poison quill rain build. Going assassin and saving up for cospris will. Anyone have a link to a proper build to follow for this, or maybe some general tips?

Yeah sorry, increased cast speed was called Faster Cast Rate in Diablo 2, I'm still stuck using that term

why quill rain when death's opus exist

Meh. Do a caster build instead.

Because they do entirely different things?

Propose a build that isn't stupidly expensive and does something interesting then.

for an attack based poison crit build? nope, I'm pretty sure they do the same thing, except one does it well.

...

Are you talking about poison on hit? Don't you want big hits for poison to hit harder?

I want barrage with CoC etherial knives. I could do big hits, or I could do a million small hits because poison stacks.

the build needs more than attack speed it wants flat chaos and plenty of crit/multi.

ohhh coc, you should have mentioned that

Flame totems BM mara with elemental overload? But that +1 totem shield cost quite a lot. You can go for templar I guess.
Infernal Mantle + Clear mind jewels will give you a shitload of free damage.
OR pizza totems with same setup. But this time you can do crazy ignites.

But poison only stacks 20 times and lasts 2 seconds, are you actually going to approach that limit?

...

not true

I've actually been intrigued by this for a while. How would one go about making this work properly?

I am thinking of corrupted blood, please fuck my face

...

You expect anyone to watch that shit?

i did

tl;dr it then.

did it make you git gud?

he gets to lvl 70 in less than 6 hours

:^)

well i didnt follow that exact build but i got to lvl 70 hc in about 9 hours with a shadow then ripped ;-;

From shadow to shallow

This one was partly corrupted, has nigger music but it's 30 minutes faster and has no gay streamer narrator.

Just post a build instead ffs.

How many chaos orbs can you farm in a week from 0? If more than 300 you can do a scion with hierophant ascendancy for +1 totem in helmet and +1 totem shield for a 4 totems in total. Kaom hearth/rime gaze/+30% more damage on helmet essence/rime gaze, infernal mantle, every combo works. Clear mind jewel for 50-60% inc damage. Faster cast speed so totems can reach 10 stacks. Most importantly you need to stack fire damage for ignites. You can either have EL overload or go for crit. infernal mantle have + 100% critchance.
Or a elementalist for free proliferation/ignites. But its not so important, if you have a few totems. Everything works really. Hierophant the cheapest for multitotem without crit and without +1 totem shield, scion is a choice if you have +1 totem shield and going full life, elementalist is good if you want to deal damage from ignites mostly and dont have +1 totem shield and not planing to have it at all. For elementalist I guess you build crit and somehow you need to keep your mana over 35%. But you only need one aura for ES, so if you careful you might do it without problems. But totems are really leaning toward HP based build. Also infernal mantle is good even on HP builds because 500es is a fucking lot of ES anyway.

this is autistic racing shit, not a build guide

Well the idea is I'd use it as a starter build so nothing expensive or that requires specific gear to work.

All games are autistic and wastes of time, what's your point?

Racing builds are fast, so obviously they're solid builds.

FREE MAPPING

you're missing the point, it's not just about the build, look how they multitask during normal, look where they stop for xp and how carefully they try to keep track of their flask charges, look how they upgrade their gear and seem to know exactly where to go in each area because they know the area generation algorithm so well, this might not sound like a big deal but a few areas are really hard to learn the patterns of. If you give someone a skill tree and tell them to use certain skills they won't be any faster, it's not just a "racing build" it's a speedrun.

changed ISP to play PoE, gotta wait 2 weeks for it to process, new league starts in a few days …

Okay and what's the problem? You run the maps faster, you get more loot/time

are you actually this retarded or just merely pretending?

I told you all you need to know. Every way is viable. I personally would prefer kaom+rime gaze+scion+el overload build. 4 totems is fucking great. Oh, you also can go full inqusitor for max resist penetration on crit. That way you can also pick elemental equilibrium. I think it will deal most damage with ignites on your crazy crits. Just stack fire damage and not spell damage. Spell damage is good, but only counts once.

I think we're not communicating here
If you can clear a map faster, you get more loot

I dont understand what you're trying to say

the video is not about clearing maps, at least the one i posted, it's about getting to maps as fast as you can, managing your inventory and picking up the right stuff, anyone can do maps fast at endgame, thing is getting there is boring, so if you want to start mapping as soon as possible watch the video i posted, the guy did it on hardcore difficulty but it's possible for softcore and it should be easier

I need a build with
That can be played by witch or ranger. In breach i played cwc wither with firestorm, converting to chaos with the consuming dark and the touhou mantle, and it was the strongest build i've ever played, i even managed to do red maps and reach level 90. I wanted to play something similar with the same mechanics but a different skill. Any suggestions?

HOWA

Won't it take a while before some affordable howa claws are available? I mean, now that breaches require a consumable item the time it takes to farm breachlords is going to increase, plus everyone knows of how strong that build is and will probably want the claws too. They're not gonna be cheap anytime soon.

Claws are cheap, their int+es equip are not.

just get astramentis fag, 10 ex

Its 65c on sc and 2ex~ on hc.

cheapest one on poetrade goes for 10ex, i should ask in trade chat

nobody gives a shit about zimbabwecore league prices

im talking about hc faggot

Its good to see nonmerchants trying to trade.

there is currently no temp league in the game, therefore only superinflation league and dead league exist, the prices for either of these are not indicative of the actual item prices on actual leagues

if you only need one attribute, you can easily get 100 of it from a rare amulet for maybe 1c.

Feels bad. Though I keep most of my rares for the chaos recipe, so I'm fucking starved on endgame rares and alts

user, you probably just aren't looking hard enough. It's easy enough to get a +50 attr amulet. Whether or not it rolled with something useful is something harder to say.

Poor mans astramentis tbh

So I just remembered that CoC was nerfed and can only trigger once every half second so CoC knives with quill rain isn't really viable anymore. Anyone have suggestions for other dumb builds that don't need expensive gear to function?

Righteous fire totem chieftain with fire immune totems.

Elaborate.

That's basically all to it. Dual totems, pop down totems, watch mobs burn. Needs basically no equipment and damage scales with zone levels through totem life.

...

A Flicker Strike build that utilizes Blood Rage and Poacher's Mark with Hypothermia and Ice Bite crits to guarantee 100% charge generation

Or you could just go raider.

I tried but it always fell off around level 40. No matter what I do, Rangers fail for me.

Might just be bad at the game then.

Or Rangers don't suit my playstyle?

It's flicker, the "playstyle" doesn't change depending on your class.

It sure as fuck does when you're still leveling

This is literally fixed with normal lab. Also flicker is complete ass for leveling anyways, generally you swap into it later.

Then I guess I swapped into it too early and I'm bad at the game

Is it really that hard to just deal with it until cruel lab? You don't even need to do it yourself, you can just pay someone to do it for you once you reach Sarn

rip aoe ;_;7

Goddamn, that brought tears to my eyes from laughing so hard

How does this look for my tree at the end of normal when the league starts?
This is my CwC icestorm now with less pyre.
AoF(taken at as close to 33 as I can manage) and cold to fire support instead of a pyre.

Get more life, respec out of them later.

Where, and what do I skimp on to take them?

You don't really need much damage on tree at all in normal/cruel.

I was going to use SR, which has pretty shit damage

If you like trading with other players and in general multiplayer, then play Path of Exile.
If you want to completely solo and only use self found items, then Grim Dawn.
Overall I would say PoE is much better, but some people really don't like how low the droprates for good items are and how this makes the endgame revolve around trading a lot, so they opt for more self find ARPGs like Grim Dawn.

Why not firestorm early on? Since it scales with the same stuff.

That's a great idea, just let SR level by itself. It will also make the transfer to ice less jarring.
Should I but all my GCP into cold to fire until it's 20? it's .5% cold and fire damage per %

Only much later on if you have a lot of them. Alternatively you can level 2 and flip it to 1/20% when it hits level 20 with the vendor recipe.

So someone on 4chin posted this.

Hierophant
Totem: Summon Skeletons
Totem: Summon Raging Spirits
Totem: Animated Weapon

Aura + minion nodes

Will this work? Im really tempted to do it

Seems really weak, takes ages to kill those packs

I'm also using it at level 1 skill

Yes. No idea how good it will be. If you do it though, you might want to use Generosity with your auras. I know people used hierophant to do quad totem to run SRS before however.

Hey that's amusing

Damage of the cloud depends on the minion life, so with srs it's not much. Now with one of mon'tregul's giant zombies or a well fed golem, that will actually do good damage.

So flameblast totem templar or witch? Which one is better?

crit or non crit?

is crit better? Non crit offers more survivability or what?

Answer me im about to have panick attack becasue i iwll fuck up upcoming league.

Crit is templar with inquisitor and the node that makes crits ignore resistances.
Non crit is witch because you can easier stack damage (elementalist) or tank (occultist) on her, while she does not gain anything special from crits.

So which one is better?

Either works. It's more a matter of taste. Templar as hybrid may be easier at the start of the league when equipment for CI isn't readily available.

Which one would you pick after aoe nerf? I was thinking i would go ancestral warchief totem build since it looks spicy but i dont think it will work that great after aoe. So i want to go for flameblast or something else that will suffice me to kill all endgame content

For fuck sake, make a decision on your own.

I don't go for efficiency, I go for fun. So pick whatever you think is more enjoyable for you.

i cant

Warchieft totem is 1000% fun i think but i just dont know after nerf. Facebreaker cheiftan with shield that's what i want but i cant be sure it will work

Don't know if they updated it yet, but the icons aren't broken anymore

poeplanner.com/

It's updated.

Okay so if I slap a Poison support gem on something, 8% of the combined physical and chaos damage becomes a 2-second poison degen

This means that +12% chaos damage is stronger than +12% physical or +12% DOT because it affects the initial and secondary hit, right?

if your chaos and physical damage are around equal yes, if your physical is much higher than your chaos then no. I'm sorry, I don't know the exact break point.

Yes. but its not secondary HIT, its degen effect.
pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Poison

Last time I checked, SRS have deceptive amount of life and the poison cloud did stack.

It's not poison clouds, it's caustic clouds, which don't stack.

Oh, I just realized that the Matua Tupina shield or whatever the fuck it's called, if you aegis it your minions will end up tarring when they're crit

Deal and take are different.

that's what he implied though

unless you play solo selffound, in which case, spam alts unitl you get a good int roll, then regal it and try to get at least something else thats usefull on it.

unless you deal only a very small percentage of your damage as chaos, yes. i think it should become more efficient when you deal about 30% of your damage as chaos.
just calculate it.

Animated weapon totems are already fairly common, since nobody wants to have to unfilter every single shit item to be able to use it.

user, everyone took Ancestral Warchief for its damage, the huge AoE was just the cherry on top. The main thing is the ability to scale its damage off of your weapon on top of totem shit.

The initial nerf took away 10% damage, which is insignificant and the AoE nerf is compensated for by simply going Ancestral Bond.

So are CoC builds still viable? I need to decide on what I want to do before the league starts.

Cast when channeled is simplier. Same cast rate anyway but you dont need a crit weapon.
And by same I mean best possible outcome for CoC and regular for CWC.

What I wanted to do was barrage quill rain poison with CoC knives, but it feels like a build like this got gutted too hard by the change to how CoC works. I have seen the build work decently without knives even socketed, so I'm not sure if the build still works or not.

Get path of building and try things out, if your build has less than 100k dps poison included scrap it.

How do you calculate DPS for icestorm?

For icestorm in path of building first equip the weapon, then the icestorm skill should appear in the skills tab. Then in a new group select your support gems, and right above the list there's a "socketed in:" you can click on, and in there select weapon 1. Then it shows the dps.

Wow, it's just like one of my japanese video games..!

Thoughts? import to path of building

I forgot to add some things. Here's the very basic level 90 build with 4 jewel slots and the rest of energy shield nodes. There's probably more nodes to optimize but for now it's allright. With only 2 jewels with chaos/area damage plus a wither totem i was able to reach 1 million dps. Not bad for a build that only requires a pledge of hands, and i threw that in just for testing purposes. If you guys have better ideas i'm open to suggestions.

pastebin.com/YnTwyTq6

So I'm trying to work this program but there are way too many settings, and I'm not sure what to put for random yellow gear since having the best possible seems a bit disingenuous.

Look up tiers of affixes, put moderate rolls for tiers you expect to easily get.

Unless your build requires it you might as well skip it, but if you really must the average values are usually fine. Most things come preset with some stats but if you want let's say an harbinger bow don't be afraid to pump the stats untill you get 320-330 dps. You can go as high or as low as you want, it's made specifically for trying things out.
If you have specific questions feel free to ask.

The best case scenario I can get has over 100k poison but it involves some corrupted items that would be kinda hard to get and 20% quality on all jewels with a 6L, but also doesn't have boots, amulet or belt added yet. Is 100k a best possible scenario or just a baseline for not shit?

With 100k you can comfortably run high tier maps, just don't expect to farm guardians or shaper. You could, if you get good, but there's literally no reason to waste time doing so while there's stupidly high dps builds around.

If you require all that, plus a 6L, i don't recommend running it if you only get 100k.

Yeah, I guess I'm not running this build then especially if it requires fucking cospris will.
Got any ideas for a cheap starter that does something mildly interesting? Otherwise I'm gonna default to a fucking aurabot because it's the only other build I have made currently.

templar pizza totems, witch srs that could transition into something good later game or even an aurabot, anything shadow assassin as bleed and poison are retarded in a good way, tornado shot ranger could be viable too.

This is what I was planning to do actually, but my issues with this are that aura bot is kinda boring to play and requires gear I might not be able to afford by 70 and as the aurabot part implies I won't be playing alone to pizza totems often won't even get to hit things before they're already dead.
Now this is what I actually want to do and the quill rain build was my initial idea but it's been a few months since I played and I forgot CoC got nerfed since then. Any suggestions on how to make this work?

it's auraslut, not bot, so get it right and get on your knees whore
What about barrage instead of quill rain CoC? It's like a quill rain made skill but actually viable with high damage bows. I'm sure you can put some poison on it and make it retarded.

Well the idea was it was using barrage in the link but the internal cooldown on coc cuts the damage by a ton. I guess quill rain could be swapped out for a slower, higher damage bow that doesn't trigger coc more than 3 times per second, but if the bow itself has actual damage wouldn't that kinda miss out on the whole point of coc knives? Or are you suggesting I drop coc entirely and put some other shit in the link instead?
And I'd really prefer to not refer to an old man without pants as a slut if possible.

I'll probably go first with an elementalist flameblast cwc firestorm. Only need to pick up a decoy totem early on with another character. Then when I have some equipment and currency, I can switch into something more interesting.

Got a build for that?

You'd probably be better off dropping CoC, even though i saw some guildmates running it just fine in breach, but i don't know what they were doing. If you really wanna spam things have you thought about cast on damage taken? You can cast something like 20 spells per second with it. Or there's also the option to get some retarded cast speed and cast stuff yourself, you can probably achieve something faster than post nerf CoC.

(heil'd)

And how exactly am I supposed to pull this off safely and reliably without certain flasks that are way too expensive to start a league with?

I have no clue, i'm guessing zerker with the massive lifesteal plus warlord's mark, you're constantly leeching a shitfuck of damage, throw in vaal pact and you're good. I wouldn't recommend it as you'd probably be forced to go life, which might seem like a good idea since it's for starting a new league, but you're automatically retarded in a bad way for using something as bad as life in current year+1.

But yeah pretty much evey build that has vaal pact and a high enough damage (with an adequate life pool to avoid one shots) has enough survaivability to clear end game.

Mind over Matter is viable now for life based characters, I guess.
At least that is what I'll aim for.. Fuck, my character is gonna be so broken I'll be forced to reroll.

I'm guessing lifebased whispering ice is just dumb, so searing touch and firestorm it is..

Possibly CI, Emberwake, The Taming with cold to fire support gem for some of that sick burn tbh

So this is nice but it's 2 separate builds for flameblast and firestorm, not cwc.

So it's probably worth mentioning but I'm going to be playing on softcore for this. I usually play on hardcore but I want to see the actual endgame shit this time around.

I dont quite get the appeal of mind over matter. I mean its powerfull when you have lots of mana, but wouldnt you just reserve most of that for auras or curses anyways?

life realy isnt that bad for a starter build. i made a life based leechzerker with vaal pact in the last few days of breach and it could reliably kill buffed up uberizaro.

New league when nerds? It's already 3 of march.

in 4 hours

What filter are you fags using for nostalgia league?

3.5

You skip aura's for a lifebased build, and with the jewel that gives nice spell boost if you have no reserved mana it kind of evens out.
For curses, you can use them manually with curse on hit if you got more, or cast when damage taken.

You can get like 50% life damage taken as mana, and with quite a lot mana regen (heck, can run clarity without reserving too much mana or use the aura-ring for your clarity or other aura).

You can generally get bigger mana bonuses than you can get life bonuses and mana regen is also generally much better

DEAD SERVERS DEAD GAME

I'm using my own. It's very very much a work in progress, but for my purposes it's fine for now.
hastebin.com/wivofuhone.m

So I'm going to assume I can't just slap it on COC or something, right? Or does that work in this case?

You can, you just can't scale it with Spell Damage modifiers. It'll still work with things like CoC or CWDT.

Oh, that's a pleasant surprise.

And then Attack and Cast are analogous to each other, and provide primary hits, if I understand it right.

tbh if you don't play SSF hardcore, you're a filthy casual redditor. git gud fams.

Last I checked the real nuisance of SSF (other than being unable to do a lot of fun unique/jewel-dependent builds) is that if you don't group for mapping, it's much more annoying to maintain high level map drops. Did Atlas and masters fix that?

Okay, decided to say fuck it and roll an Occultist wand witch this league, doing Barrage+poison/phys

NEW LEAGUE WHEN

IT'S RIGHT HERE YOU
YOU
DOUBLE EXILE

...

WHERE?

Huh, this doesn't look like a new league to me.
when 2018 gets around and the queue is done we should make an Holla Forums guild and level up togheter

You mean shitpost until we get banned for being gooblygooglers?

IIRC someone spent $1k to force GG memes into PoE through some unique.

Of course.

...

WHAT A GAYLORD

...

Reddit seems to think it's a Game of Thrones reference, though some get the bane meme.

Th-thanks

Ayy got a Springleaf off of Brutus

I AM THE PROPHET, BOW DOWN

Fuck this game.

Maps are tier-based now, instead of being assigned a level. Zana makes it slightly easier to get lower tier maps by selling them to you and by giving quests where she opens portals to another map (can be unique and any tier up to guardians and Shaper, although the Zana areas won't drop the same map tiers). Atlas makes it kind of a pain in the ass to try to get to tier 10-15 maps for the first time but has the benefit of giving you a % chance for dropped maps to be one tier higher based on the number of bonus objectives completed in the Atlas.

Why would anyone ever bother with HC

...

Also, vendoring three of the same map will get you a map one tier higher and you can have a general idea of what that map will be based on the fact that it will be one of the maps connected to the map you are vendoring on the Atlas

There have already been a couple 8/v/ guilds. I think I'm still in an old one, but it's always ded.

What guild is it?

Underrated post.
I understood that reference oldfriend.

What the fuck
I've been playing non-stop since the league dropped, 5.5 hours ago. I'm at the end of act 3.
Why am I so slow?

...

Should specify: Act 3 normal. I'm in the crystal mines in normal now, but I also have a whispering ice already and 100% cold to fire conversion, so things are going OK.

Oh shit I got it to 6s with less than 10 jews
I got the links I needed (two linked blues) with one fusing, and the colors I needed (4B2R) with like 3 chromes.
Noice.

I've been doing all the quests and waypoints. Fresh league and all that. May as well, I guess. Anyways, I just got to Gravicius in ~4-5h. Pretty slow.

Overall I like the new league mechanic. I did Occultist witch, it's pretty mana hungry (using Power Syphon+LMP), also I'm missing a few things like Faster Attacks and Barrage.

This is the first league where I've had a chaos orb drop in normal, and I've had 3 of the fuckers drop before even reaching normal sarn this run.
Inb4 exalt in cruel.

How you all feel about the leaguestones fam?

I think it really makes leveling less fucking awful. First 20 levels still suck. I should be more careful with beyond though. Shit has almost killed me a few times.

What the actual fuck. I'm clearing areas at the speed of molasses.

During act 3, I have had no less than 8 or 9 rare prismatic rings drop. At least 5 of them had +damage on attack

I meant "rare" as in rare mob. Every nigger and their dog has resistances against my only real form of damage, and it's infuriating.

I know, I'm saying my luck has been wacky as fuck, too.
Just in the last hour I found 3 Chaos in normal

… Is it possible to convert damage from one type to itself? I found a Cold Steel gem, and I saw there's a witch wand node that converts "10% wand cold damage added as physical damage" … it's within the radius of the slot, so with the jewel, it should change it to 10% physical added as physical, which is like an indirect 10% more?

Read everything again.

I did, it's a weird corner case and I am having no reason seeing why it wouldn't work.

So if it says "10% phys added as cold damage" and it replaces "cold" it should say "10% phys added as phys damage".

What the fuck are you talking about. If you replace cold with phys?
A fucking what?
100 physical damage on spell or attack. 10% added as cold = 100phys damage + 10% cold damage = 110 damage. I have no fucking idea what are you talking about. Phys damage added as phys damage, what the fuck nigger?

Increases and reductions. Additional damage is not an increase for damage.

4 hours into the league and people were doing merciless. I really want to know what they are doing, i'm assuming people were using builds OP at low levels and doing the bare minimum to get to higher level places while also having everything planned beforehand (i.e they know where to go instead of reexploring parts of the map).

Someone posted some videos a few days ago. That's pretty much it, the one I watched was using Flamestrike spell totems so he could just drop one and keep running and the totem would kill everything.

Eight hours in and I'm level 50, almost done with A3 cruel. Still slow but faster than I used to be. Leveling's slowed to a crawl so I guess I should start using leaguestones.

Obligatory new bread link.
