Why is this game so shit?

What's the consensus here?

Literally the only thing I want to do in Skyrim is build up the best weapon/armor with enchanting and when I do I completely lose the will to play, not even willing to put it to use.

That is every elder scrolls game
yes even morrowind
sorry guys, the series is mediocre at best, it just suffers from total war syndrome. Meaning that it has literally no incentive to evolve or have more depth with every iteration because it is the only product like it on the market and has no competition.

i hate neo/v/

If you want to have crazy enchantments then Skyrim is not your game even if you get perk list overhauls and other enchantment mods.

If you want to break the game with ridiculous enchantments then go play Morrowind again and have fun with high jumping/flying simulator.

I enjoyed Skyrim because I enjoyed killing everyone who wasn't a Nord, as well as killing all the Nord racetraitors, and no other TES game did it as good. That is what kept me invested, and it was fun and cathartic which is what games should be.

Morrowind has shit gameplay, a boring copy-pasted world with good lore and a very good soundtrack.

Go play Gothic and Gothic 2 if you want non-shit gameplay and an excellent hand-crafted world.

Sounds like a good idea, will test it out to see how it works. Already finished the Nords faction quests.

Do it in fun ways if you can. Madanach, Elenwen, and Rikke were all fun to mess with.

I trapped Madanach in a small cage made out of magic, and sent Rikke's soul to the Soul Cain before she could reach Halls of Valor

Todd toned down the pure sandbox gameplay that Morrowind had in Skyrim. That's why it's boring for you.

Far too small and restricted compared to Morrowind. I find the universe of Gothic to be unengaging. Also, the controls are quite bad and the third person view sucks. You can't jump around like hulk and one smash kill everything in Gothic.

Morrowind might have some copy pasted crypts, but the rest of the world building is amazing. The imagery of Morrowind is really interesting and the writing is great for video game standard at least. There's a lot of exploration in the game's world, lore, story, and even the gameplay mechanic itself. It's a supreme exploration game.

Another thing that I love about Morrowind and TES in general is the first person view and controls. It's really handy.

I don't think you've actually played through Gothic 1 and 2, tbh.

I have. I just didn't like them. I like the huge sandbox experience of Morrowind better. Plus, the controls suck.

I'll never understand why they chose such a shitty control scheme in Gothic, it's not that fucking hard to get something decent but they had to have the most annoying controls and it completely ruined the game

You're going to have to explain how they suck, because they're actually extremely responsive with a high skill cap.

Come on

Probably the devs were just autistic. Yeah, it's my main grudge of the Gothic series. Not just the scheme, but also how the camera doesn't follow your character's back all the time and the fucked up mouse sensitivity.

They suck due to the reasons I've stated above. Try to play Severance: Blade of Darkness. That's what responsive third person combat with similar scheme looks like.

But Gothic combat is extremely responsive, as I've already said, and now I know for a fact that you haven't completed G1 and 2. You probably started the game, got your ass kicked by the first molerat and uninstalled. There's no way you'd be throwing out all of these fabricated non-criticisms if you had actually played through it.

Liking morrowind is perfectly fine. It's babby's first open-world 3D RPG for kids born in the early 90s, you don't need to be defensive about it and make shit up to try and defend it in the face of a game that actually has good gameplay.

normalfags like it for some reason. I think it's babby's first RPG. I couldn't stand playing it for more than a couple of hours. I think I got like 2 shouts or something before I got bored. It just felt like Oblivion. And Oblivion felt like a dumb down Morrowind with better graphics. Daggerfall was the best elder scrolls.

No, really, go on, explain how Gothic's combat has "a high skill cap". It's incredibly basic and straightforward

Have you played Severance? No? Then comment no more.

I didn't get remotely that far, but I actually have finished quite a lot of quests in Khorinis and Onar's farm, and then I lost interest.

Well, can you jump like hulk and one hit kill everyone, including vivec, in Gothic?

Maybe compared to Morrowind, it's not as probability based as Morrowind. You basically have to run around to avoid enemy attacks and time your swings. It's the controls and camera view that are absolutely dogshit. The sword model and animation are trash as well.

Because Skyrim is boring. Character development is just not interesting. You can kill everything easily with an unleveled character in a few hits with stackable difficulty mods. The game is short with much less side content to discover than the previous 2 games. (Playing random segments of Daggerfall is satisfying, but its content pool is smaller.) The radiant quests were beyond shallow, yet the Thieves Guild forces you to do them. Everything is super serious when the previous 3 games were so funny.

It's not as hilariously broken as morrowind was, and the whole "any character can do anything" bit actually made it a less engaging RPG than every ES game previous.
Also, mages got their powers neutered, level scaling is just as badly fucked as it was in Oblivion except this time the bandits just spent a long time making sick gains instead of receiving equipment from the fucking forge god, combat itself is only "attack" and "charge attack," and according to some we lost what was left of the unique Elder Scrolls aesthetic though Gloomreach was some great TES-style eye candy.
I'm probably missing one or two things, but that's the ones that stick out to me.

OH NO WHAT A FUCKING CRIME

something is wrong with the way you're playing user

Because the enjoyment comes from MUH IMMERSION instead of from interesting gameplay, mechanics, story, or characters

Now in all fairness there's nothing inherently wrong with this and a lot of people enjoy Skyrim for MUH IMMERSHUN! But it is also a valid reason to say the game is shit because in the end the gameplay itself is just fucking shallow. The best games are able to give you both immersion and engaging gameplay, and TES just can't. At least with New Vegas, and yes I know its an Obsidian game but its comparable in this case, you are dropped into both an interesting world and a world where you actually give a fuck about the games lore and politics. Skyrims lore just feels too generic Pagan-esqe fantasy setting

Holy shit don't do anything this guy said.

Let's laugh at what tesfags consider "role playing".

Bethesda, making generation of autists adept in mental gymnastics since forever.

lurk 2 years before posting.

Skyrim suffers from the same fatal flaw as all TES games: after the first hour, there is no need to play anymore. A game with poor gameplay is irredeemable trash.
I think morrowind is trash. Maybe this is because I played daggerfall as a kid, not memewind

skyrim is an fps

I pirated it back then day 1, but since I am scared of spiders I could never make it past the first few quests. I uninstalled it like the same day.

I think mid 2016 I bought skyrim again, since then I am playing it as a porn game. It's imo the only fun thing to do, raping random people and shit. At some point I run into Serana and since then I had a few runs with her. But even thought I think she is sexy as fuck it is not worth doing her quests.

I wasted days exploring in it and various doing quests, so as far as I'm concerned, ti's decent enough.
Could be a LOT better with some mechanical changes.

what this guy said. In the end skyrim is not fun because everything is empty. Quests are always the same, you can't have any cool skillbuilds like in PoE. There are mods that change the NPC's but whatever you do, they are still boring and empty.

Even on legendary + difficulty mods, this is just the easiest game. Even Oblivion was actually somewhat difficult at higher vanilla difficulty, although this is mostly due to the enemies becoming hard-hitting bullet sponges. Skyrim is pathetic. My level 1 (never accepted levelup rewards) Breton girl with the basic spells and the best greatsword can kill dragons in a few hits. The only way I ever died was from those stupid auto-cinematic KOs.

Roleplaying can save the game a little, but any other game has more character depth and variety. Skyrim just doesn't support any play style.

Gothic is a shit rpg that will not let me customize my character at all, has horrible combat(even worse than morrowind, at least morrowind doesn't have a lock-on that you can't turn off), and the most bewildering superfluous stuff that doesn't even need to be there. Stop shitting every morrowind/TES thread with your massive inferiority complex.

That's because of level scaling. The enemies will always be just strong enough so that you can kill them fairly easily at whatever level you're at. Dragons will always be shitloads weaker than bandits because you're supposed to grind dragons (both figuratively and kind of literally) to make Dragonbone everything by endgame.

Underrated post
Skyrim's long term fanbase is the modding community. Skyrim is shit tier in every regard except modding, because it's easy to make porn mods

It's even crap regarding modding. The entire community is trash and a lot of modders suck dick. Also the engine itself is not as mod friendly as one would think, UE for example has way better mod support.
