ITT movies that feel like videogames

What are some movies that feel like a videogame?
Movies have never been my thing. I like videogames because of how crazy the stories and characters are. Are there any movies that feel like that? Vid related would be exactly what I would want in a movie but 2 hours long.
So far I hear Hardcore Henry and the Dofus movie are pretty good at feeling like a videogame but is there any more?

Hardcore Henry is pretty much a video game

Wreck it Ralph

The Bayonetta movie had weird porn.

Coraline

MGS4

...

Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV

I can believe that no one has posted this movie, maybe 4cucks and Redditards are invading us again

Hardcore Henry, but that one feels like cheating. It has a Superhot poster on the wall in one scene.

And, when I saw The Matrix, I mean, "The Matrix and all of the films that copied it's style for the next decade''.

*say

Do short films count?

HHHHHHHHHGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGNNNNNNNNNNN

I can't believe nobody has said Avalon. If you've not seen this yet, you should log off now, do so, then come back. Head's up. Trippy plot and visuals.

this, it just works

Also, there's Scott Pilgirim VS the World.
Edge of Tomorrow reminds me of save scumming.
Maybe the Gantz movies?

but you haven't said anything yet…?

also, Edge of Tomorrow, The King of Fighters and Real Steel came out 16, 12 and 13 years after The Matrix, respectively; more than a decade.

For real though, is this literally the best videogame cutscene of all time? I can't think of anything that comes CLOSE.

If they do, the Local-58 Series definitely qualifies, at least the emergency broadcast ones. Not so much as games, but as cinematics or videos that play on television sets or something.

Pretty much. It can be like an old campy AA video game that doesn't take itself too seriously.

Well it was clearly based off of games like Serious sam and Duke Nukem.

That second one is awesome, I really love horror like that.

...

...

Spirited Away always reminded me of old point and click games

...

...

Does anyone know of any movies that feel like Platinum games? I'd fucking love to see a movie similar to Metal Gear Rising. The closest I can think of would be Big Trouble in Little China and Kill Bill v. 1

Just watched Edge of Tomorrow after reading this post, pretty enjoyable but not without problems for sure. I liked how the movie avoided the "protagonist with plot armor" issue that a lot of action movies have except he has plot armor again when he loses the ability.

My biggest gripe was the ending, I'm fine with him killing the nexus but they absolutely did not need to have him wake up afterwards because that doesn't make any sense within the context of the movie's rules. If time reset when he killed the nexus then it wouldn't be dead when he woke up and the plan would be a failure since it would now know that he is coming.

But overall I still liked it, they at least tried to have a good plot which is better than most modern American action movies.

...

It's basically Twisted Metal crossed with Mario Kart.

This film felt like The Last of Us to me personally.

Ghosts of Mars feels a little like Timesplitters, and is still the best film version of DooM we're ever likely to get.

I swear to god this better not be made into some bullshit meme because it won the oscar or whatever. Fucking literal gay niggers.

In the manga, cutting off their antennae before killing them stopped them from communicating their save state back in time, making it possible to win. Never wanted to watch the movie because fuck Tom Cruise.

Metal Gear Solid 4 kind of feels like a videogame.

Some of the DMC opening cutscenes come close, so do the W101 ones.

GTA San Andreas

GTA V

GTA Vice City

excluding Mad Max and The Road

The Rover felt like a slow Fallout/Wasteland game

Thanks for reminding me of this movie.
From what I can remember it's a movie for entitled millennials.

Some other movies remind me of Alien/Deadspace

...

...

...

Watch them in same day for a greater effect

Are you sure? That's not what it's about.

He's stuck in traffic in a hot car, he has bullshit to deal with like everyone else so it's time to go on a rampage because American life is just awful.
It's exactly the current millennial attitude.
That scene in particular. Missed breakfast, better pull out a tech 9 and hold up the whole restaurant.
Muh dystopia. Fucking cringe.

The only saving grace is Michael Douglas' charisma.

Even Horizon?

Oscar's confirmed bleb.

You failed to read between the lines.

mega drive game

Deus Ex HR

would be great if we got a planetside one, with players vs bugs on huge maps with thousands of players versus tens of thousands of bugs, movie version ofcourse

Starship Troopers is pretty fucking awesome tbh, besides the egalitarian shit ofc.

Run Lola Run, a film I remember fondly for featuring, and being about, Franka Potente running without a bra for 90 minutes.

Can't think of a movie that would be easier to adapt into a video game that John Wick

Has a perfect plot for it too. Why're you killing all these guys? They killed my dog.

Come on you apes, you wanna live forever?

I was young when I first saw it and I'm only going on what I can remember which is why I need to rewatch it.
But that scene by itself - "I missed breakfast at the fast food restaurant in my country full of luxuries and convenience. Time for a violent uprising." is absolutely the SJW / antifa / lefty mindset.

Pic related and John Wick feel like games somewhat. Crazy plots, chapters feel like game levels and there's 'bosses'. Things are just there to be fought for fun. It works.

They're also sick movies so worth a watch anyway.

Nah. He's an ex missile engineer who lives a double life after going crazy from his wife leaving him. Not even flinching when people suddenly shot at him in the phone booth shows his mind is gone way far.

All the war with daily life stuff was just his insanity letting loose with some gun-ho patriotic style put into it due to his work history.

You'll love this.

Rogue One was very close to copying Halo Reach.

I'm pretty sure you're memeing but pic related was extremely similar to TLoU (except it was actually good). I haven't seen any developer interviews for the game but I am 99.9% positive that the game was heavily inspired by this movie.

What the hell is this movie even about?

What exactly is the concept of the second one? I figure it's just the moon entering the earths atmosphere or something and the dialog is just telling the people at home to stay ignorant.

I interpreted it as more of a paranormal SCP type story where something happened on the moon that hypnotizes people when they look at it.

I'd have preferred it if it ended earlier so it could be more ambiguous as to whether this is something paranormal or not.

Crank

Generally I'm not a fan of endings that are left open for interpretation. It kind of devalues the experience when their not left with some sort of conclusion. Even in horror. Though even then I figure a more down to earth and realistic approach seems much more scary than something paranormal. The only other alternative which would be cool is a parasitic alien life form that literally lives in the light, being reflected from the moon into the human population. what's scarier about this is that the other side of the earth is probably fucked and the screams at the end are the final gasps of humanity

I like ambiguous endings when there are a limited number of ways to interpret them based on the information given. For example, HUGE SPOILERS FOR PAN'S LABYRINTH A 10/10 MOVIE WATCH BEFORE READING the end of Pan's Labyrinth is entirely ambiguous but there's only two possible states. Either the entirety of Ofelia's quest with the faun was real or it was her delusion, meaning she either died dreaming about this delusion or is actually a princess in a magical land now. Both logically and thematically it's best to interpret that it was all in her head but you can't say so for sure which makes it all the more intriguing.

What I don't like however is an ambiguous ending that doesn't give you any specific ways to interpret it. This example would be somewhere in the middle where you don't have much to go on but you do have enough information to get the general idea of what's going on. There is certainly some mass psychological hysteria being caused by the moon but it's a good thing that they don't actually try to explain what or why, making you somewhat curious but the only way to find out is to go outside.

I think horror more than anything else benefits the most from not having too much explanation, like how the monsters in both The Thing and It Follows have their rules explained but never why or how the monsters exist in the first place. Lovecraft would be an even better example where the entire point is that you couldn't even begin to comprehend these eldritch entities because not only are you physically infinitesimal compared to them but so is the concept of your existence.

It was just meant to emulate old shooters, with over the top plots with major plot holes on purpose.

The band that did the soundtrack, Biting Elbows, used to make music videos with the same style as the film.
Super popular over in Russia.

If you want to see the early stages of the film, watch their videos.

Also, the lead singer played Henry for most of the film.

This film is pure kino.

Going to recommend embed related. I love this film, top 10 despite it's flaws.

It's weird to watch a movie day 1 sometimes and instantly realize it's going to be an underrated gem in like 20 years.

Especially the animated part

...

It's from the 90's and it's about an older guy. No millennials to see here.

Alright some games I think sort of tie in to these movies:

Death Rally, released 1996. Loved that game. Also Carmageddon.

Payday 1 & 2 (music and some missions directly inspired by Heat), GTA V/Online heists

Chronicles of Riddick? Closest I can get on this one.

Helldivers

Fuck, never heard of it. Looks good, will watch soon.

Yes! Underrated game too.

Armored.

and for more Payday, 44 minutes.

Literally just a nigger faggot.

even more Payday, 5 minutes

Metro

Only that part. Rest is the Batman games.

When I saw the trailer for this I thought it was going to be garbage, but it looks like their primary goal was fun. Might give it a watch

Honestly the first half is pretty boring, it really comes together on the third act.

It's good, and the ending.. TOP KEK

It's impossible for a movie that type to be boring.

And yet I was bored. You might chalk it up, however, to me seeing biting elbows' music videos years before the movie. Most of hardcore henry doesn't hold a candle to bad motherfucker.

Event Horizon has a distinct lack of shooting the shit that happens when interdimensional travel is attempted.

Resident Evil/Manhunt

…and by The Matrix you meant Dark City. Right?

watch this movie. it's insane. it's like an action movie on speed. i think there's a second part which is more of the same and just as great.

There's two different movies called Ark, '03 and '05, one Korean one Holla Forumsish, give'em both a whirl. The Korean one is a little bit like FF7 crossed with Xenogears. basically the first disc of each The other is bretty weird, reminds me of those cyber-noir Sega CD games like Rise of the Dragon.
Actually, since the Korean Ark leaves so much unsaid I always wished it did leap over into a vidya. The setting would drive autists crazy pulling open everyone's cabinets. It's original, but it feels like you're starting off in the middle of something.
Kinda weird that it's super hard to find despite having a fully H'wood cast for the english translation.

Pretty much the only reason everyone involved in that series hasn't been flayed to their bone and torched.

I believe you're thinking of this one, actually. 3 guesses what hothead directed this ludicrous pile of shit, lmao

also, Vampire: The Masquerade meets Carmageddon.

Hah, 3rd one reminds me.
Mechwarrior/Death Duel get a genesis emulator and try that out, it's pretty lulzy meets the Cold War.

how about Killing Zoe?

You know you fucked up right?

Hardcore henry, it even has stage bosses and power ups.

Event horizon its warhammer 40k before the humans discovered how to keep the daemons from fucking them over.

Just watched this because of this post, thank you so much for the recommendation I fucking loved it.

Anyone know of any other extremely high octane action movies like Crank or Hardcore Henry? (the sequel is on my list)

...

I recommend karl urban's dredd.

Which is uncannily similar to

I doubt that they were able to produce the Raid in the time between Dredd's script leak and when it came out, so I guess it was just a coincidence.

Seen it and loved it, same goes for The Raid 1+2.

Elder Scrolls/The Witcher

It's far more of a gen X movie, take your blinders off once in a while.

I assume you're talking about the trailer in embed related, which is a just a poorly edited trailer which falsely portrays what the movie is about. The guy going on the shooting spree was planning it for years beforehand, has an actual goal behind it, etc.
Rampage is actually one of Uwe Boll's better movies (which is saying very little).

I didn't know there were people here who HADNT seen it. It's great man.

Rampage was really good, the editing could have been better but I wasn't expecting something that good from Uwe Boll
