I keep thinking of making something preachy, that way I would be fairly passionate about it, but then I think about how dickheaded that is.
I think about using a heavy amount of subtlety, but too much subtlety obfuscates the point.
Subject wise: bitching about the things in the vidya industry I hate with substantially less skill than when Kojima does it.
The key gameplay innovation would be having the choices not simply be choices, but multi-stage word problems, puzzles basically with potentially multiple solutions that change the course of the story.
I haven't seen anyone do that in the exact way I'd do it and I would like to think it would have appeal.
I just can't write a story around it that I like very much.
I feel like I've rewritten the same story several times, I just don't know how to deliver the world building in non-shitty way of just regurgitating it at the player.

Anyways, play MOHAA, it's challenging and co-written by Spielberg, and some of the level design takes direct inspiration from Saving Private Ryan. The shooting itself feels pretty good (id Tech 3), a classic shooter.

The music is also pretty gud. 9/10 game, multiplayer is still alive but being an older game you're not going to find any fellow beginners.

On another note, please forgive this blogposting but I think it bears some small importance.

I've been reflecting on my game choices as of late. What games I have purchased, what games I have played, and what games I have been interested in within the last couple of years and looking forward to in the near future this year.
2/3 of the selection are Japanese made/produced games. The other 1/3 that are "western" made/produced have either been old games that got a PC port, something by an indie dev that is arcade-like (drop in and play, no real story or anything. Simple shit), or a pure multiplayer (Overwatch) where nothing about a story or any "message" is the focus of the game because the focus of the game is beat another team.
To add to this, my game consumption in general has dropped off because of, well, just what its like when you're 30 years old living as a lone adult that has a 9 to 5 job. So my purchases and what grabs my interest are not frivolous because my spare time is not.

My point with that is to say, I wonder if this is something that other people are experiencing now? Where the SJW narrative and all this bullshit has been made so important in these games that its sucking the fun out of them and thus starting to tank sales, even among the normalist of normalfags? Where its not even about a stance on any given "issue", but that the games just aren't that fun in the west? That the gameplay is suffering, the visuals are suffering, all in service to a story that to many people may just start to sound like they're getting nagged at?

I don't think SJW bullshit is invasive enough to put them off of videogames, though. The AAA industry hasn't pushed for social justice as hard as it could. It's annoying, but bear in mind that it could be a LOT worse than it is now. I think the problem with games in the west leans more towards a lack of creative freedom due to money grubbing publishers who are afraid to take risks than it does towards social justice.
