Day of the Tentacle is a shit sequel and I would argue a shit game. People complaining about all of the problems of Broken Age forgot that those thing exist in DotT too. The shitty puzzles, deductive logic being completely fucking useless or even detrimental, having to do stupid shit for the story to continue, etc. Maniac Mansion had multiple endings, multiple solutions, multiple character to choose from, and the game is popular for its funny deaths. Then its sequel is this shit. Another thing, putting the hamster in the microwave is only funny because it was pointlessly cruel and such a bad idea. Making it canon and having it be a necessary part of the game's solution is stupid.

MM9 and MN9 are very different things, and it is vital not to confuse the two.

MM9 was a shameless attempt at "what if we'd never stopped churning out Megaman NES games", and everyone LOVED it because it gave them exactly the Megaman fix they'd been missing for years. (10 flopped largely because they released it right after 9 - had they waited another five years, it probably would've been a smash.)
Mighty No 9, on the other hand, was a failure largely due to utterly incompetent project management - downgrading from what was initially promised, the Dina disaster, and a fundamental misunderstanding of what the fans wanted: Inafune made "adjustments" to the gameplay to make it less of a blatant Megaman clone, where a blatant Megaman clone was exactly what people had paid for.
(The terrible dub made it worse. At least the Japanese script made some attempt to emulate Megaman, but when "It is the year 20XX" is subtitled as "It is the current year", you know you have a problem.)

The issue isn't him being a developer, from my understanding. People don't like him because he spits out all these hype-lies now, because he stopped being a dev and started being a front man for Bethesda. As an actual developer he's a competent guy, but from what I can tell, the fucking jews at Beth and by extension Zeni twisted his arm to be their sort of mascot, and to say X Y or Z without substantial stuff to back it up.
