By tradition imageboards are anonymous. It's kinda what makes them such extreme places, since people can just say whatever they want and not worry about social repercussions. The only major downside is you get a lot of baiters, who just post shit to lure people into trolling. You need pretty thick skin to be around here. /agdg/ and the people who trolled the #resistjam are probably the most tame.
