It's not a filter you fucking idiots. The official term is "color correction" and it's done to adjust the tone and color temperature of the shot.
Normalfaggots nowadays expect "cinematic" movies to have this weird dark contrasty green tone. That's why they did this. Because all movies are doing it, so when re-releasing old movies they adjust the color to match modern movies because "everyone is doing it!"
What started this retarded trend? Who fucking knows? Probably Disney/Marvel because they needed to mask subtle CGI "corrections" that they now use for all their fucking movies to clean up the actors faces until they all look plastic.

No, you dumb nigger, colour correction is done to the original film master during post production. It's a long, expensive and laborious process and nobody gonna do that for a cheap home video re-release. They literally slap a filter over it and move on.
