Holdo is a Mary Sue, not even in the overpowered Rey sort of way, I mean she is clearly Kathleen Kennedy's self-insert. My favorite part of TLJ was finding out the identity of Snoke and what his intentions were. I also liked finding out about the fear that he preyed upon within Kylo in order to turn him to the dark side. It was also pretty sweet to learn about Rey's parents, which explains her mysterious circumstances, force powers and strange connections to other characters.

She was the most pointless character in the movie besides Po.

Po should have died in TFA and Leia should have filled the role of Holdo instead, and the whole part with the mutiny should have been scrapped. The movie would still be bad and they fucked over Luke, but this would have made it less so.

The prequels are much better simply for the world building; Droids, Republic, cool planets, etc. TLJ only does this a little with the casino act. The new trilogy is dead creatively and relies on poorly reusing concepts from the originals.

If you make a Star Wars movie and 75% of it is inside a ship then you are wasting the license. Rian Johnsock and JJ Abrams are hacks and there will never be a good Star Wars movie again, but I already figured this would be the case before watching.
