No, their execs are like people on Holla Forums who think being experimental all the time is a good idea, except they take it too far.

Devs and publishers take note: This is what happens when you censor and dumb down your games to appease people who DONT BUY YOUR GAMES EVER.

Capcom hardly experiments, their last experiment was Dragon's Dogma and look how that ended up.

That's like shooting yourself in the foot, and then shooting yourself in the other foot to fix the limp.

So releasing on only two platforms saw less sales?

Can't wait to see them burn to the ground

Experimental does not mean something good.
The entire outsourcing period when Inafune was there was experimental.
A Megaman JRPG was experimental.
RE4 and RE7 are pretty experimental with massive shifts in tone and control.
Dead Rising shifting to KEKKEKE OLO MEMES HAHAHAHA was experimental, as was the original game for its time.

God damnit this just means first person walking simulators ad infinitum doesn't it, what hell have do we live in Holla Forums? The smart move here would be to cease outsourcing your IPs to garbage Western developers and focus on in house development but I guess not.

...

...

They stopped when they added their own gay niggers into super smash

Unlikely, but is VR the new motion control craze?

...

I like this new meme, but I prefer the accurate term "casualization"

Reasons I didn't buy the game

It's only two, but that was enough for me to say "fuck this"

What a shame that a fun game like akiba's trip would have the most blatant shilling I've seen next to fucking cup noodle 15.

...

MFW the terrible 3DS version of SFIV has nearly the same number of sales as SFV and it's still the better game

It's fewer. Fewer is used when discussing things that can be counted in solid numbers, less is used when the thing in question cannot be counted in discrete pieces.
If you are talking units of water (i.e. litres) use fewer
If you are talking the amount of water in a glass (no fixed amount, just "i want more" or "i want less") use less

...

Well, the anime is terrible and that shilling episode was actually one of the better ones so far in comparison to the other episodes which have been rife with QUALITY animation.

Isn't the VR bubble going to pop soon?

Who. Gives. A. Shit.
I understood it, you understood it even though you had to be a grammar nazi commissar about. This is like bitching about 'I could care less' but no one bat's an eye when someone says 'this is me giving a fuck'.

Well at least it isn't a pachinko machine I guess.

...

Monster Hunter isn't neon or lerealism enough for VR. It'll get an idling phone game at best.

Monster Hunter is the one thing they won't fuck around with that hard so don't worry. Monster hunter's japan sales are the one thing keeping the company afloat, if they piss off the fans they would be finished.

I was actually hoping the game was going to be KoF or GG. Then it turned out to be SFV

Good job

Good, serves them right for being complete fucking idiots, it's on the same level of Konami tripling down on their pachinko machine bullshit only to immediately get BTFO by the government and then going on this pathetic pleading and damage control. This [CURRENT YEAR] is going breddy gud thus far.

No instead they took the IP away from Itsuno, gave it to some new guy and turned it into a Japanese only free to play MMO.
And Capcom wonders why they're losing money.

capcom confirmed for going broke within the next 2 years tops.

Totally, instead of making actual good videogames people want to buy, they pander to a demographic of under 1 million people in total.
They might as well donate 2 billion to Anita, because the end result is the same - a complete fucking waste of money.

Great, now Nintendo can buy Capcom and the real fun can start.

What

oh my naive child.

what makes you think the ones buying up capcom won't be EA?

...

He has a femdom fetish, one of the worst fetish you can have, as it has real life consequences, feminism.

Fuck everyone who said Dragon's Dogma should have had multiplayer in any shape, form, or fashion.

And Command Mission still ended up better than X6 and X7 unless you are shit talking Battle Network

Capcom was a video game company and not a pachinko company?

I just want another DMC game

Rip in piss capcum you literal retards.
Millennials have assumed direct control by now.

If were lucky Itsunos working on it right now since we still don't know what the game he's working on is.
I just hope they can finish the fucking game this time.

Also so random guy posted second pic related months ago. He had zero sources to back anything up so take it with a grain of salt.

...

Most people are tired of censorship. I myself was surprised to see a thread like this in the Facebook page of PC Gamer.

You're talking about a company that just shifted their entire structure because of one game that wasn't an abysmal failure. This is also a company that announced a games fans have been asking for, for over a decade. Then cancelled it right after and blamed the fans for cancelling it. Then they mocked their fans by putting box art mega man in SFxT. Don't underestimate Capcom's stupidity.

I dunno I have a gentle femdom, but I'm vehemently anti-feminist. In fact most male feminists seem to be either rapists, pedophiles, or sadists.

Capcom advertising their censorship game on an anime based on a game where you tear the clothes off of women is just a tad too much irony for me to handle.

ayy lmao

This is a common theme with overhyped, disappointing games, isn't it? I remember the sales charts from DA:O had relatively steady numbers, whereas DA2 had a huge spike in the first month then absolutely cratered.

Nice quads there Hitler

pls

...

Would EA even be able to? I remember this coming up before and people saying Japan's laws would make it really difficult for a foreign company to buy them out.

Yeah but then they refused to release it to the morons asking for it. If they put out DDO out worldwide it would have at least been an interesting, and probably pretty cheap, experiment to gauge interest in a sequel.

I'd enjoy it just for the capcom fuckhead salt alone

Get out faggot.

They seem to lineup pretty well with modern Capcom to be honest.

J-Just stop user.

There's absolutely nothing cheap about localizing an MMO. Trademarks, localization rights, server bandwidth and maintenance costs, localization costs, multi-country trade agreements, and all kinds of other shit make it an expensive gamble for a game that's desperate to stay afloat even in its home country. Hell, PSO2 fights for top online game in Japan with FFXIV, and even they thought localizing the game would be a stupid investment. Take into account the typical bullshit that ruins localizations of MMOs, like 1+ year worth of content gap, missing collaboration items/events, and SJW bullshit in the localization (it is Capcom, after all), and it's obvious why DDO didn't get localized.

I thought DDO was not really an MMO and was just a heavily instanced P2P thing. It would still be way cheaper then making a brand new game since DDO re-uses a bunch of assets. Especially since DD was far more popular in the west, wasn't it?

Maybe someone will find mega man legends 3 beta version inside capcom ashes and release it

Yeah, that'll really take off. lol

They're better off with mobages. That is where (unfortunately) the real shekels are.

VR will never be profitable in the near future. At least not without subs and tons and tons of microtransactions but even then it's such a niche and step down from even PC gaming. The base is too low and the margins too slim.

Oh and the pozzing and censorship doesn't help either.

Yeah, DDO is a "shared lobby leading to instanced areas" kind of game like Phantasy Star Online, but I don't think that would make it any cheaper in terms of server costs than a persistent world MMO with the same amount of players. Also, I don't know where you're getting the idea that localization is cheap just because they're not developing a whole new game. It really isn't. Again, if localization was so cheap, PSO2 would be able to afford it easily.

I was under the impression that Dragon's Dogma did OK.
I didn't really like it, but it had a lot going for it. I'd love to see a sequel. And no, DDO doesn't count.

I heard it did rather poorly until it came out on PC. Which only happened in the west which is why Capcom not localizing DDO made no sense to me. Since most of the games potential audience seemed to be in the west, especially since it's a PC-only game.

Not wanting to improve yourself is the first sign that you're a retard.

DD (with DA) had lifetime sales of 1.5 Mil.
PC sold 300K in the first month and its now around 650K.

Some people like to be corrected when they do something wrong, especially EAASL people, of which there are plenty on the internet. I'm so sorry you were triggered when you realised you didn't know how to use fewer and less correctly.

The easiest way to remember is to ask whether you'd use "much" or "many" to describe the substance or objects you're talking about.
If "many" is the right word, then use "few." If "more" is the right word, use "less."
You have much sugar or less sugar. You have many cups of sugar or fewer cups of sugar.
You probably already knew that, but I wanted to put it out there in case anyone was wondering.

Lost Planet 2 was one of my favorite games last gen. I honestly liked the way the series was going into a sort of Monhun with guns but multi-platform. Instead we got Lost Planet 3.

Got an archive for that news about VR?
All I see is a bunch of anons getting upset over what could be a shopped image.

OP's image is real, that article sourced an article, which sourced another article. So here is the archive of what I can assume is the "original" article.
archive.is/e9UvI

Thanks.

Doubt they'll go full retard and jump on the VR train.
They'll just tack on VR """experiences""" like they did with the latest Batman Arkham game. I think they even had VR-only DLC for RE7, didn't they? Or at least announce it.

VR would be neat for somethings, like certain aspects of Monster Hunter, but if they go full VR, most of their IPs would be impossible to transition. VR is only for first person games, really. You can't add a third-person game and expect it to make as much sense, because now you're got to handle movement and camera angles going wild, which will disorientate people.

You can play the whole of RE7 in VR. Its ok, it would be better if you could use something like the Vive controllers, but Sony's tracking is so shit pretty much every dev has giving up on Sony's motion sticks.
You can do third person, its just not very good.
The types of games that are doing well on VR right now are first person shooters, horror games, and space/racing/flight sims.

It sold fairly well on consoles, plus the boost when Dark Arisen came out. Sold 300,000 on PC which was about 2 years after it came out.

I don't have any hard numbers but pretty much every report states that it 'did well but not as good as expected.' Capcom, undoubtedly, expected it to do Skyrim numbers. So it's been written off as a failure despite performing about as well as it possibly could have.

No.

Shoo, shoo.

They need to hurry up and quit fucking around with that Generations shit then.

What the fuck are you talking about? Have you played the game? It's shitload of shilling since it's in Akiba the land of the shillings.

How the hell did the excecs thoight vr would turn out to be nore profitable? Did their employees trick the excecs with shitloads of articles talking about how vr is apparently the next and greatest thing? Because I certainly haven't seen the money rolling in for vr so far, and certainly not for games solely for vr.

No kidding, I'm more hyped for Toukiden 2 than I am for MHXX

I desperately need the source for those images. Tried browsing that Thai adware site, but I can't find it. No results in reverse image search, obviously.

When will you dumbfucks learn to let go?

expect another 'lowcost VR' from microsoft and maybe nintendo soon

Wew, with digits like those, your prediction has to come true.

This is suicidal. How many people own a VR device? Even including cheap Google Cardboard headsets, I imagine it must be a small niche.

GUYS
If Capcom doesn't want to make games anymore we won't get any more Dragon's Dogma unless Itsuno leaves to join another company!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Then it's not a company that provides something i like. It's a company holding something i like hostage.

Oh no?

CRAPCOM YES

Not nearly as many as the number of those who want it but can't get it as it's still consistently sold out in most areas of the world outside canuckistan. Almost 4 months after launch it's still a major event when word gets out that a new shipment will arrive and people gather in waiting lines for the mere chance to get one.

I highly doubt that that's the case.

I don't and I'm not interested after fucking with a Vive for a few hours.

Don't knock it until you try it.

VR? AHAHAHAHAHAHHAA
Crytek just recently got out of it after nearly sinking the company for like 3rd-4th time…
Market there is NON-EXISTENT

uploadvr.com/playstation-vr-lining-up-japan/

Just do dishes without being asked and lay off the tendies for a week, damn. I've got more Good Boy Points than I can shake a stick at.

They don't experiment with gameplay though. They experiment with hardcore jewing.

Honestly normalfags surprise me sometimes with how fed up they are with SJW shit.

I'm still mad.

Look up Type-G on sadpanda.

I did try it, fag.

...

Don't forget Ken, which, unlike Crapcom, even modders can get right.

Also, a less awkward-looking Ibuki win facial expression wouldn't hurt.

I'm pretty sure those are photoshop not mods, they fucked ibuki she actually looked cute in sf4 at least.

Somehow I knew it would be Fate before even searching. Sage for off-topic

Excuse me?

...

...

inb4 loss

That company should have died with that rootkit patch already, it's stupid how many fans they have that defend everything they do

Never change capcom

This is the pall cast by the death of public domain and the extension of copyright ad infinitum.

People HAVE to support Capcom if they enjoy (insert capcom fanchise here). Even if they think Capcom are cunts, and rightly so, they will continue to support them because they enjoy a franchise and don't want it to die.

In the past you could just wait out the death of a terrible company. Knowing that the franchise would eventually pass into PD and anyone could continue it. Often much in a much better and true-to-concept form in passion projects. But because Capcom (and every other media conglomerate) owns the IP this isn't possible. And even if Capcom eventually dies, that IP will just be sold to another corperation to milk or shelf as they see fit untill the end of time.

It's why piracy is the answer. Piracy is the one true expression of love for something. The only way of fighting back against American multinationals paying politicans to fuck over their customers and then forcibly export those unfair laws around the world.

Same shit happens with every kind of game company from console manufactures down to shitty localization outfits. Fanboys are the real cancer killing video games.

Thinking they could match a game series that is over 20 years old, plus all the new fans they got prior to skyrims release from fallout 3 and NV.

Not to mention the vanilla version of DD had no quick travel despite having a world almost as big as skyrim which was an instant turn off for casuals.

Of all the fucking things to focus on? Holy shit are these Japs fucking retarded? Don't answer that. Rhetorical question.

At least that would have been a somewhat sound decision from the perspective of an executive jew.
If they think VR is going to keep them afloat they seriously need a smack in the face.

A franchise name falls under trademark, not under copyright. And trademarks don't expire, nor do they "enter the public domain," though they can be declared unenforceable if the company owning them doesn't defend them, or if they become a generic term.
Copyright would apply to specific games or assets, though. So while, after a very long time, the actual game Street Fighter V would fall into the public domain, the rights to distribute a new game using the name "Street Fighter" never will, unless Capcom allows it or a judge rules that it's become a generic term (which is unlikely).
That said, copyright is fucked. Its purpose was supposed to be to encourage authors to release more works. But now, thanks to Disney bribing the American legal system, copyright can last for 150 years–which is absurd, since dead authors can't be encouraged to do anything, and they'll die before the copyright expires. But colossal media conglomerates sure can take advantage of it. What a coincidence.

I didn't like DD, but I didn't mind the lack of fast travel–what I minded was the static respawning mobs.

The VR bubble is going to burst in a few years when the technology amounts to nothing for gaming aside from sex/porn related games. VR will go nowhere the same way 3D HDTVs went nowhere for home viewing despite being pushed big in retail a few years back. The truth was no one really gave a damn and you can't actually do a whole lot with 3D. Same with the 3DS, no one really cared about the 3D they just wanted to play good games on a handheld.

Unfortunately it was the Wii that sent all the gimmicks in motion for gaming related technology, because it was a success based on the price point and taking advantage of average consumers buying casual games based around the motion controls. Once the gimmick wore off and mobile games took off the casual audience stopped caring as much about gimmicks on dedicated gaming hardware and went to more incremental purchases for devices that a family was likely to already have by default (phones, and a computer/PC). All the motion control gimmicks after the Wii's initial success failed, the Wii-U's tablet controller gimmick with underpowered console hardware failed, the 'always online' component the Xbox One was initially slated to have caused a lot of bad press for Microsoft and hurt the Xbox One getting out of the gate even though they pulled the plug on that in the end, and etc.

Execs of gaming companies are getting too into their own heads, they're not focusing on making good games and figuring out what the player does to enjoy the game, they're trying to make gimmicky experiences for the player to experience without considering we will just avoid bad games. Long term sales will not be good if the library of games is bad, a bad game will not continue to sell like what will obviously happen with No Man's Sky and the disappointment it was. The Nintendo Switch will likely fail for focusing too much on innovative hardware and not what will give them the capability to make better games. All that money on R&D to utilize technology that's more of a convenience than something to help make games more interesting to play. We have handhelds and phones that do just fine for playing on the go or around the house.

The Switch will inevitably fail and Nintendo will realize that simply selling their software left and right will net them more returns than wasting money on R&D for hardware that does nothing to take their games up a notch (giving us a reason to choose it over the competition, and PC is big competition). Selling their large back catalogs of games on PC would net them a crapton of money, and if they offered a better service than what pirating would offer (like official emulators and purchasing games to play on such software) then they would get a lot of customer satisfaction and money to keep funding whatever hardware endeavors with handhelds they want to keep going.

You know what? I want another game like Command Mission. It's fun (OK, not much of a fighting game badass to pull off Zero's Super Moves aside from the first one and Ninetales was a ball buster)

They're honestly overcomplicating things. Make good games, advertise them enough to make sure all the gamers out there know what's coming out without wasting a ton of money on TV ads which probably don't affect a whole lot with how many people use the internet in the buyer demographic, make sure your game is good, then boom start selling that shit. It honestly doesn't matter all that much which genre you do anymore as long as it isn't a dumb mobile game or focused on motion controls.

I understand trying to maximize returns by taking advantage of trends, but they're so incredibly hard to predict and capitalize on that you're better off trying to start your own trend and make good products to keep consumer loyalty high up there. Dedicated gamers will keep buying games as long as it's good. Doesn't guarantee everyone will like the game but makes it much easier to have more people buying it up.

Has the technology even improved that much? I know the visuals are obviously better but when I look at this early 90s vr video it doesn't look like things have change a great deal.

Trademark law, like Copyright law, has been bastardised over the years also.

Yeah it absolutely has. I have a Vive and it pisses all over that 90's shit.

user you are replying too hasn't tried good Vr if he thinks it has nothing to offer for gaming. Even in this early-adoptor phase there's shitloads of promise.

9/10 times if someone is shitting on VR it's because they've either not tried it, or have tried the poorfag PSVR or phoneVR versions of it. Which is like playing a mobile pay-to-win game and saying "these video games won't take off, they have nothing to offer."

u wut m8

MTF Capcom games looked amazing and ran on the worst trash hardware flawlessly so what did he mean by this

who wants to bet this is sony bribing the fuck out of them ?

Go watch the first episode of Hand Shakers and Granblue Fantasy and tell me if you still believe that.

So you're not denying that you're shilling street fighter V.

Good to know, capshillom!

Christ, how many shills are in this thread?

Holy shit they turned her into a turkroach.

they may be over complicating things, but you're no better dude, you're oversimplifying it so much. That's literally what capcom or every other game company are trying to do, but making good games aren't as simple as x + y = z or just simply making the same shit again, there are shitloads of factor that they have to include too, and it's common sense that the company needs to innovate to stay ahead of the competition while there is still potential to be earned.
Just try to browse game anywhere, there are shitloads of good games out there, and most of them are either forgettable or nobody's buying them, capcom need to make good games AND also innovate so that they can retain their old fanbase while gaining market share at the same time. It's not simple.

Holla Forums - grammar school.

I like this

Thanks, man.

Bear in mind that all mediums are experiencing this same type of dropoff now. Movies are another example.

Typically if someone's going to consume the media these days, they'll do so within the launch window. The only exception to this is of course PC sales on Steam, because retail doesn't even ATTEMPT to emulate the sales discounting that Steam provides. Even during Boxing Week they typically only discount games by as much as 25%.

In some alternate timeline I could see myself saying the same thing, but the hypothetical situation where Capcom listens to "letting Platinum develop DMC5".

VR is shit and you wasted your money

A lot of normalfags (average people who don't live in a pozzed shithole like Austin, SoCal, Minnesota, Jew York City, or Seattle and it's sister shithole Portland) hate all the political correctness that's been shoved down their throats. Normalfags are pretty stupid, but they at least know of SJW bullshit when its blatant.

What's the best ones to play when you get to the part of the Battle Network series where they go Pokemon with the entries?
