Terraria Thread

I suppose there is enough now known about about 1.3.5 that we can have a discussion about it.

That's a comfy lookin little house

Yeah. I'm glad we're finally getting dynasty platforms too.

What exactly do we know about that? I haven't heard of anything at all.

Crystal/dynasty/golden furniture and more convenient settings aren't much to talk about, some crystal furniture have even existed for a long time but weren't added to the game for some reason. Although more furniture and decorative stuff is neat, it doesn't exactly inspire me personally to play more.

Nah I'm not playing the same old grindy game with a few petty additions. I'd rather wait for Terraria Otherworld.

I really want them to flesh out more content in the pre-hardmode and pre-dungeon areas. It's always just rushing the same things in the same patterns. A bunch of sidegrades and other progression options would be nice.
Also some way to "supercharge" certain weaker accessories, like a super-reforge, would be a nice way to bring some of the older accessories in line with newer offerings.

Well Red did come back to overhaul the engine so who knows what else might be in store.

I NEED this.

Also when the fuck is this shit coming out?

i still wanna fuck the dryad

Don't get me wrong, Terraria is a fucking amazing game.
But it's boring now.
Or better, it's boring for people that played it already.

We already farmed all the monsters, got all the dyes, farmed all the monsters in hardmode, made all the builds, crafted castles, shanty towns, commie apartments, we killed thousands of guides, locked NPCs we dislike in places we will never visit, we killed each other, we did hardmode hardcore, we drew porn etc etc etc.
Again, Terraria is a fun game but it would require a whole new section to get me interested, like a completely reworked early game or something.
It's not that the game itself is bad or boring or any of that but… I already played it, several times over, got all the achievements too.
At this point I just want to play something else.

Why do you guys complain about early game so much? It's fine. The real problem is hardmode which is just a glorified boss rush with barely any exploration.

sounds like depression tbh fam

Post comfy builds!

work in progress extension of my city

Is that you Dungeonheim user?

It is, we ran out of space on the surface so we are building a second canton in a semi underground area that is still above cavern layer, its connected with a teleporter that will be hidden as a passageway, but right now were having trouble figuring out how big it should be

How many dungeons have you had to plunder to get all the bricks you need for your town?

About 4-5 for the bricks but far more for the furnitures, rare paintings and whatnot, lets say the project has spiraled out of controll when it comes to the original desire scope

We spent a lot of time making the underground far more mazelike with tons of rooms that have special features.

Anyone else here think Expert Queen Bee is way harder than Expert Skeletron?

Everything's harder than Expert Skeletron.

I don't remember what exactly she does because I fucking obliterated her on both of my expert playthroughs(first with a yoyo, second with a water bolt)

...

Same.

I've played it on and off since 2011. I've had enough. There is only so much you can add to keep the interest over so many years.

Otherworld looks like it will be fun though, with the tower defense elements and all that.

Some user gifted this to me around it's release but haven't touched it. Did the power creep fuck up the game?

The endgame is power creeped to hell and back, there's no way they can realistically expand the game into that direction anymore because of what a whirlwind of death everything already becomes. The early-midgame is great though.

Otherworld never

How autistic is the multiplayer with Holla Forums? I want to try it out.

If the last time is anything to go by, you'll have people rushing through progression so the server is over in about a day. People mostly solo while exploring, and some people even kill bosses alone without calling anyone else.

It's ok sometimes when you get the right people though, but you rarely get someone who will share things they find (dumping items that they deprecate don't count).

I was playing with a friend on a server and he did exactly this halfway through when I didn't log on once when he asked to play. Rushed straight to endgame in a few hours.

Autistic fucker.

I really want to build more autistic stuff, but I ran out of autism.

The only way to really stop this is to have a modded server to lock the game into only allowing hardcore characters.

It's absolutely staggering how high the power-ceiling gets the very second you beat Moon Lord. I get it's endgame fuck-around stuff but it escalates way too high way too quickly, especially since he's still easily cheesed even with all the buffs he got in response to people farming him with no problem.

If there's ever a new expansion I think 2 things might happen or should happen to fix that.
Either way, I dubt the next expansion, iof there's any, would be really good. Currently waiting for Terraria Otherworld and Terraria 2. Having Terraria looking like Starbound doesn't sound so bad, but I just want more content, as in quantity.

Starbound's one saving grace is it looks pretty, having a more unique artstyle to it than not-Final Fantasy 5 I still remember one artist or other flat-out using ripped and edited Bartz sprites in the game's earliest days is about the only thing I could think of to do the game a favor besides the usual "more content and options less power-creep" stuff. I still want a fucking Castlevania whip, the closest thing is yo-yos.

Color me surprised, Redigit is coming back.

That reminds me of the time I tried to do Castlevania.

I wonder why. Hopefully there's no trouble with Otherworld, I thought Red was focusing on that and planning Terraria 2 and stuff.

As much as I like Terraria, I honestly just want something new. I don't think Terraria can offer much anymore because of the way combat has escalated, you'd need to do some kind of downgrade where weapons and enemies are less spammy and start having new AI and you get to a different map (e.g. Minecraft's Nether equivalent).

On the flipside it might be Otherworld/Terraria 2 are in enough of a state that it can survive/progress without Redigit for a while so he's coming back to tweak the original.

Terraria 2 cancelled.

Rate my camp Holla Forums.

Commieblock/10 most of my own bases tend to look like that

Gulag/10

The UFO cap isn't finished yet. Pretty much all furniture and such is sourced from stuff I found in dungeons or picked up from enemies.

I've noticed that having my base in the tree is pretty much the best defense against any number of events. On top of that, the two hills between the tree and the jungle biome to the right there made for an excellent multi-layered arena.

This is also a problem many anons have with Dwarf Fortress. It's a good game, it's fuck to dick around in and … everyone has played it to death. We need a fresh game in both cases, not a coat of paint. But it's always been a good game in either case

I like the idea of survival more than the boss fights. Like, how cool would it be to make your own gunpowder from peat bogs and crushed rocks?

Okay

Well there was that one game, Haven and Hearth.

I know I know, Terraria has it's own direction and stuff, but I'm just saying I would have liked that more. I did try to mod it a bit back in 2011, but never ended up doing much

All you need is a stuffed alligator hanging from the ceiling and it would be perfect.
I really like the idea of a ship home. I should build that.

it's not finished yet obviously

Well in Terraria's case…starting from scratch with a hardcore character can really make you slow down and push the survival aspect of it.

For me, it forces me to really try to tame the world. Paving over the land to make nice smooth roads from my base to wherever it is I'm trying to get to.
To be careful about how i'm exploring a place and also tend towards farming items and making potions rather than just foraging and using whatever I can find at the moment.

also, remember hero's 1.3 stream?

ell, it's just a draft, I guess. Tell me you're going to change the materials later.

What kind of tree was you trying to do and why it have an UFO on top?

Nothing wrong with that, though.

...

Was that HERO's stream, the one were he started to cry at the end?

Oh the tree was already there. I was just using hive blocks to build in it because I like bees and thought it would be neat.
The UFO top was because I had just discovered alien bricks after first discovering the aliens.

I wasn't saying anything bad about the progression, I just think it's rather impressive.

I'm trying to make these 3 glowing eyes in the dark beneath this village, but they don't know at all. I wanted to use those glowing crystal blocks, but bubbles look better for eyes. Look at the last pic, I want something like that. Not to mention, bubbles don't appear on the screenshot.

Done, I guess.

That's a pretty cool design. I like it a lot.

Almost makes me wish that every now and again, particularly cool player-made designs would be adopted by the devs, so these really imaginative and awesome things would be generated randomly in your world for you to find.

I'm at the point where I can fight the moonlord. However I feel as though my accessories are lacking pretty hard.

Why the fuck are their things that are just drop-rate dependent? God damn..farming for some shit suuucckkkss

Party girl is where it's at.

I wish i had the autism to actually build shit. It looks so fun yet it's so unfun.

Finish or at least focus your work on Terraria Otherworld and/or Terraria 2 already. For fuck's sake. The updates are cool and all, but it's done. Move the fuck on already. Why do they keep doing this?

God I feel so shit. I can't even beat planteria in normal.

Otherworld is being developed by a completely different company in conjunction with Relogic and Terraria 2 isn't even the next game that Red was going to work on anyway. Since Otherworld got delayed and Terraria's engine is at the absolute breaking point, I'm guessing Red returned to overhaul the engine in order to keep things fresh and active until TO gets released.
This is the first time I've ever seen Holla Forums complain about too many free up dates to a game. Someone needs to do an edit of this picture.

What ever happened to Terraria Other World or whatever it was called?

Red didn't like how it was shaping up so it was postponed indefinitely so they can make it better.

Can I borrow some of your guys' autism?

Looks better with Lava. Also, rate it.

...

New Terraria game when?!

I like the structures that build themselves over time

It's fairly good, other than the fact that it's almost completely a commieblock.

I want game like terraria + starcontrol. Literally how fucking hard is to code this especially with voxels? I mean i would do it but i have no programing skills or shit!

I remember you. I fucking told you to replace stone blocks with stone brick and to use 2 layers for walls.
God damn it.

me too

If only we had a wand of equal trade, you could build that kind of stuff without it looking like a pile of dirt and ass for the rest of time.

those glowing eyes are neat.
i tend to have a policy against "drawing" as in: makng thngs that only exist in the background and that you cant interact with, but thats realy cool and i might steal it.

try to vary it up a bit, try to make houses that arent squares and esepcialy try to make them smaller, also try using different back wall types and different room layouts.

remember that painting works well but only if you paint something either in a different colour to match something else or if you use black paint to make something appear as if it was int he background.

i think digging holes is comfy but you should try to give it a more deliberate look to it, try to clutter even more, useplatforms and put stuff like books, candles and flasks on it. Give each room a theme, try to tell a story with it.

Why is making a huge cock of a building such a big thing in terraria? almost everyone does it at some point.

Wew lad
Gulag in Teletubby land

Just started playing again the other day. Not done my home yet atl but I've got some fun ideas fireworking in my head. Should be easier to finish once I get into hardmode and get some farming gear.
Marble is goat.

...

What are you going for?

Well first thing's first if you add two or three columns of wood beams under the house it will tie it into the landscape better. Wood beams aren't the only thing you can use but I think that would work with the materials you have there. Either that or palm fence. Maybe mahogany fence.

Also take a look at this second pic for inspiration. I kind of like what you have so you wouldn't necessarily have to redo the rooms layout just add some architectural flourishes.Oh and consider replacing the tungsten chandeliers with something comfier, and add a fireplace to that big common room.

The one thing I wish these building games would enforce is a sort of physics engine.
It doesn't have to be super refined but don't let blocks just float in the middle of nothing. Require some form of support for things.

One other thing, candle or other light sources almost always look better than placed torches. You don't have to stick to one particular set either, just mix and match what you like.

Stop oppressing me with your phallocentric towers of dead, shitlord!
Now, seriously, I just wanted to do is a tower, like Sauron's tower, but shit is just too hard to decorate, is really restrictive as to what you can add or even do.
But that's what I'm trying to do user!

If they did that, shit like floating castles wouldn't exist. Maybe just giving you an specific block that can float. Still, I don't see why would you do that other than making the game more tedious.

Whatever happened to Charlie Sheen; the original winner. Did he accidentally kill himself while I wasn't looking?

Kept getting overrun by invasions?

I expected far more gravestones.

Canadian commiebloc

Hopefully we'll get the other three implemented along with the ones that are confirmed.

No Charlie got the AIDS then fucked most of Hollywood. So great success!

I'd rather they implement spelunking lighting that you don't need to gather materials to make, crap out your defence for, or be at end game. Also would kill for some way to keep the damn Wraiths from floating up through my bases floors while I'm busy fighting shit on top during a blood moon or whatever.

I think that's just part of the intended equipment progression. It's notable that you can buy 3 different types of torches as well as glowsticks and flares and the Magic Lantern is a pretty decent lightpet.
Yeah I would like there to be some kind of barrier block implemented. I know there's ways to build a base to make it wraith and reaper proof but sometimes I just don't want to have to make suspended structures.

add boxes under the second story staircase

Brutalist/10

Fuck Cuck Lorre though, he ruined two and a half men because he was assmad at charlie then dragged the thing along making it more degenerate and less funny and an ending that is basically him being a faggot over television.

Once I'm done building the underground city, I'll start decorating the rooms and build the topside defenses and towers with bridges.

Maybe even a tree for the dryad to live in.

There is a group of builders? I finally started getting into to building. Not very creative atm mostly just try to make buildings that already exist.

Do you mean like replicating in game generated structures or other peoples builds?

Looks really damn impressive, if a little bland.

I wish they didn't do this, now I have to spend hours quarantining it before it destroys the jungle.

I'd suggest gold bricks in the treasury and a platform loaded down with gold bars, crates and coins, maybe a on it too for good measure. And have jewels encrusted around the floor and ceiling.

Other than that I like how you've used mostly just normal wood and stone and derivatives for your build. I think people forget how good the classic stuff can look.

No like making ships, sky scrapers, and castles.

Post you builds.

...

I'm guessing that pineapple is a Spongebob reference but regardless I'm stealing that idea for my next tropical beach build.

Fuck this shit game and fuck its shit devs.

Not that great but what I got. Hoping to slowly improve whenever I get the urge to play again.

Here's some inspiration from my inspiration folder.

That's good to hear, swear the game has been feeling chunkier than it did originally. I used to be able to run it on an ancient laptop. Think it's become a bit of a memory piggu.

For the moment I'm just building the underground base, once I'm done I'll decorate the place with proper furniture and change the walls.

That's a great idea, and then stick the tax collector in there.
I was originally just going to make it a fancy room for all the gold furniture or change it to a room for plants.

Got tired of building and planning so I did some decorating.

I really get triggered by the stone and dirt under and around my houses and stuffs

I started from the lower right and built westward. That's why the left tower looks more planned. When I finished the tower, I realized there isn't enough NPCs pre-HM, and I hate that hardmode makes NPCs unsafe.

those roofs don't fit right

you got some nice funky shapes there but maybe work over the roofs again, they all look too smillar and the shape looks forced, try making em thicker and varying up the shape a bit.

i fucking hate it

Everybody's first base/10

Maybe just tune a little, perhaps use blue shingles on some of the roofs.
Don't change it much though I like what you got here.

Autism is truly bad.

It's looks good but nowhere near autistic.

B-but all the details.

...

What is a good way to kill moon lord (Normal mode)

what in the fuck happened to that computer

Any good tips for noob? Last time i have played this game it took me 10 hours to kill dungeon skeleton.

Here's my stuff.

Easiest is a mage build. Spectre hood and both Nebula weapons and a level 3 Stardust dragon. I found Reindeer Bells to help too.

...

Doing some building over my underground base.
Also turned the one room into a treasure room like one user suggested.

Later on I'll rebuild the rooms below it into a dungeon/prison area.

Never thought about using gold furniture and dungeon brick. I like the contrast though. Blue dungeon is probably the easiest to utilize with other blocks/sets.

I like it. Scrooge has his money bin.

Fuck you guys, you've inspired me to start playing this game for the first time in a year.

Best vidya construction item for all time.
Why it's so rarely seen in games is beyond me.

anything that lets you work with multiple blocks at a time is pretty useful.

h8 my bungalow I've spent 2 hours building

Okay, this is it after not being a piece of shit.

the smooth granite area and the cactus walls and furniture look really out of place

the brick building on top in construction doesn't really work with a wooden roof and the mahogany floor does either

Keep going, I'd like to see where you're headed with this.

It's so hard to make something nice early-game when you barely have access to anything.

Oh, also, I'm trying to go for a cactus-themed western bar at the bottom there. Any ideas?

I agree however why show it off till it's something

I guess it really depends on how cactusy or western you want it but I would suggest painting the cactus to a more fitting colour but I do suggest using alot more wood as old western towns were only made only of wood but I wouldn't suggest using normal wood, I'd say use shade or spooky wood, ebonwood could work too but it's up your tastes and you can use a mixture of everything, do paint whatever wood you use either red, brown or orange though

I like to take suggestions as I go, I find that it usually ends up with a better result. I gotta go get some of that crimson wood, but my gear is too shitty to deal with those face monsters. I still need a painter, though.

I kinda like it. What are you going to do with the right side?

...

the only thing I don't like about it is the fact that it's underground and also it's half finished still

Probably some hallways to a storage room, lined with armor and weapons or something like that. The exit at the bottom leads to an underground lake that's just off-screen, so I'm eventually going to turn that into a fishing spot.
I forgot how long it takes to do anything early game

Go to the ocean and catch some fish tools and combine it with builder + miner potions. I've found that really helps.

I'm actually surprised how well granite and stone slab looks together.

It's going to look better when I paint that shit. I'll try and make a trip to the ocean - I haven't done that with this character yet. I guess it's time to get comfy.

This is my terraria home. I know its not very imaginative or impressive or anything, but I tried to make it as comfy as possible and it's the only place I feel safe in this game.

...

n terraria anyone?

for a second i thought that was a fucking hole in your ship, like the pressure just breached the hull or something

What goes well with bone? I'm wanting to make a home with bone and I'm not sure what furniture goes with the buildings and what goes with the blocks/walls, because they sadly merge together if you go 100% bone.

boreal does very well

Well it's academic anyway sadly, terraria's giving me an error on launch and can't seem to fix it.

...

Good, now go ahead and find Arkhalis.
Took me 500-something to get one

...

I wish they had Guard NPCs that we could hire and outfit ourselves, with money upkeep. Maybe even have them follow us.

Go mini mount, and blade.

outfit them all with summoner gear

More than that, I think you could have a couple of guards and arm them with armor of your choice to have them guarding your base, instead of having too many. They'd guard an specific area.

Scambound's graphics look like washed out colors. I am so glad terraria's old spriter decided to join a project made solely to assist somethingawful scammers in their goal of scamming people. Because in the end Redigit found a better spriter, someone who didn't have a habit of making sprites that without their context name label would be unidentifiable. Even better was when he got the go ahead to start replacing a ton of sprites made by the previous guy. Didn't miss them at all.

where the hell is it

The one thing Starbound got right throughout its builds, is the left click, right click using the same building block for foreground, and background respectively.

Should the bathroom be in slabs with brick walls or bricks with slab walls?

slabs are abit iffy since they don't fuse with anything other then slabs so try something else like wood

Slabs do fuse with smooth marble.

Crimson overtook it.

do they fuse not as walls though?

Do you mean do slab blocks and smooth marble blocks fuse? Yeah they do.

I did not know that

Wait I thought it WAS released. Didn't you see the fanmade update that added Wario and Mega Man and shit? It was great, and is great. Super Mario Bros X is the greatest Mario game; it takes everything good from every Mario game and smooths it out and makes it better. Having the Ice Flower in Subcon is some of the funnest shit ever.

>DOOR'S STUCK

I don't understand, the only doors that should be stuck are the ones leading outside

Hardmode?

1st Shrine in a world I made for materials.

...

How can I improve the treasure room?

Could use a bit more of a lived in cultural aesthetic touch. Bookcases, paintings, "china cabinet", etc…

Perhaps replace background wall of the vault with gold bricks.

Good Idea. I guess some gold brick pillars should do, since I want to keep the "black background. I wish I could make it look like it's much bigger than it actually is, but space is a bitch.

make it asymmetrical and using abit more golden coloured blocks to maybe trim your rooms up abit

You need something above your throne. I don't know what, but it should look cool.

a family crest

Posting some stuff from my last mp world a few months ago, just because.

Is there any way of creating a snow wall? Snow blocks wall isn't the same. I guess I can use Gray Stucco or something.

A cross can never be wrong, right?

I'm too autistic to like asymmetry, but this is what I did. I wanted it to look messier.

The pink room looks really classy.

Look if you are gonna commie block you gotta do it right dammit.

how do i get people to play with

actuated gold bricks would make a better cross

Someone have some good ports to post to get some inspiration into making mine? Maybe some lighthouses as well.

What?

WIPs.

If you're going to make a lighthouse consider using the jungle alter as part of the lamp.

What is the red stuff made out of, and does it overheat like a bitch?

Just started playing. I built a little hobbit hole, and the guide lives in my basement is helping me learn the ropes.

I need to mine some more lead so I can make some new tools and equipment I think. I've been doing some mining, but I got attacked by an earthworm so I think I might have went too far down. I killed it, though it wasn't very easy.

iirc, lead and copper are the same "tier." i think you want iron/tungsten for the next tier. silver and gold/platinum are after that. give your surface a good long exploring during the day, you may find some veins near the surface that are easier and safer to get.

No, copper and tin are the same tier, iron and lead are the next tier.

can i join your world and watch you?

Keep going user!
Remember progression isnt everything in Terraria and there are several ways to progress that dont all include mining the latest ores.
THere are plenty of alternate equipments that can be made from materials gathered in other biomes like the jungle.

You can even get Ores by fishing!

Lead is actually the same as iron, for some strange reason.

Comf is hard.

easy to invade, hard to defend/10

Start small.

The easiest way to get comfy is to over clutter, then expand into architecture from there, try thicker roofs, also try less geometric shapes, maybe branch off into making things asymetrical.

Also try building them into the countryside, not as in holes in the ground but houses leaned against slopes and so on.

I think when it comes to comfyness the biggest mistake many people make is to start with large buildings, its much easier to start with small buildings untill you have a coherent style and then make that style into larger buildings.

Also by that time you will have more items to clutter them with.

Also one thing you did is making themed rooms, try making themed houses rather than themed rooms, and have a general theme.

Dont have "the steam punk house" or "the honey house"; have a House in your style that is also incorporating stemapunk elements (or dont because clockfop is the worst style)

its how i started out on several maps

Also a thing i made to try out a new form of Roof to see how it looks if i make buildings with it and how many blocks it takes

I also think that mining themed buildings are easy to do at first becuase they compliment the gameplay and reinforce the feel

and yes ive gotten rid of the stupid junk programs since, this comes up every time i post these.

Yea, expert world and hardcore character. I lost my gold pickaxe last run and barely got it back.

You're gonna have so much fuuuuuuuuuuuuun. Go with the lower difficulties since expert is just boss items with the enemies being a bunch of spongy bullshit.

Why would you do that to yourself?

y tho

Terraria Otherworld and Terraria 2 fucking NEVER.

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING

Have you tried running a server using tremor and thorium? It has so much content that it's fucking stupid.

What content adding mods do you guys consider absolutely essential? I've been playing around on a world with tremor, calamity and thorium and I'm beginning to think that tremor and calamity are kinda superfluous

ok but i'm not sure how to do that stuff

don't do it he'll molest you while you sleep

I thought expert gave more loot? Or miner settlements or something?

For the challenge. I tried making a softcore char, but got bored without that sense of dread when im far from home. As an example, making a bed was a bitch and a half cause cobwebs are just in the most dangerous locations for my world.

Going to be hosting/testing out a tshock server, anyone interested?
74.139.241.161
7777

Higher drop rates and loot from bosses.

tshock?

why won't my bed work? It seems to meet all the correct criteria. All the walls were placed by me, mosnters can't get in the house, there's two space above the pillow…

maybe the dirt walls are interfering? since it's technically part of the same room. maybe add a door where the crafting table is.

check'd. thanks gents

Yeah, putting a door worked, thanks.

I thought it'd let me skip the night

This right here.

You can have some natural wall (or lack of a wall) in a valid room as long as it's not greater than 4X4 in any continuous section. For example this is a valid house despite the windows. If for some reason you want a large amount of dirt wall in a livable structure use crafted dirt wall.

No dice. You have to wait for the morning sun to vanquish the terrible night in this game.

Oh. Well fuck it, im too invested in my home to change now. Besides, I like the feeling of dread when I leave. Im actually in a world where the winter portion has the shadow portions inbetween it. Just getting to my base puts me at risk of those flying reaper looking insects

Just do what I do and plan out the next section and prepare said section during the night. Or just make pathways underground and maybe set up railway systems inbetween sections you want to go to.

Normal is too easy. Expert just forces you to prepare more and have better gear. It's a difficulty spike for sure, but once you get used to it, normal feels like a joke.

Don't ever craft shortswords. They're terrible. Always go for the broadsword. Really though, explore the surface more and you might find some good stuff, especially a Spear. That will make short work of giant worms.
If you're feeling brave, head down into the Corruption chasm (the long shafts in the shadow area) and find one of the black orbs near the bottom. Bring a bunch of bombs to break through the ebonstone and a hammer to smash the orb; it will drop a Musket that's really useful in the early game (makes pretty short work of those Eaters of Souls). Destroy another if you'd like; it will drop some other useful item (at worst, more ammo for the Musket). Don't touch a third, because that will summon a giant worm to ravage your anus.
Also, build some NPC houses. 4-6 is a good place to start, but you'll build many more later. At very least, build three (Guide, Merchant, and Nurse). The requirements for a proper house are a lot to outline and I don't remember them off the top of my head, but they're on the wiki (use the wiki if you haven't been). Getting a Merchant will allow you to buy a bug net, which will let you catch bait - bugs and such. Craft a fishing rod from lead, bring 20+ bait (Enchanted Nightcrawlers, crafted from worms and fallen stars, are relatively easy to acquire and pretty good, get as many of those as you can) to the ocean at the edge of the world, and fish. You'll get a bunch of low-tier fish that you can craft into food (Well Fed buff gives minor all stats up for a very long time, good to have), you'll get some crates with items, and you'll probably find a Reaver Shark (arguably the best pick in the game for how early you can acquire it - it will be the only pick you need up until you beat the Wall of Flesh). You might also get a Swordfish, which is the highest-damaging spear in the game up until post-Skeletron.

It's good to start on a normal world. I did before moving to Expert. Having the experience helps when you ramp up the difficulty on your next playthrough.

try Rimworld it definitely scratched the Terria~ish itch for me.

Happened like three times today

No can do fam. I've invested too much to turn back now. Besides, nothing wrong with a good challenge right? Makes things interesting, if frustrating at times.

Just gotta push through it. I had the same issue with DDDA, but after forcing it up until I got past the wyrmhunt quests i'm having a shitload of fun. Sometimes you just gotta work at it and invest a little to get to the good part.

Oh, I misread your other posts. Starting on expert is fine too, although I think you're some kind of masochist for playing on hardcore. Well, everything I said in that other response applies doubly to you, if you're looking for advice. Good luck.

Its fun! As frustrating as it can be, its like a roguelite, wherein the fact that I can lose everything I worked for makes the combat intense, and keeps me on edge when not in base. I dont care so much about killing every boss, but rather improving my base, and just generally improving and surviving so far.

I don't know what DDDA is, but I remember one game that was bad at the start but then got really good later on was Dragon's Dogma. I actually quit the first time I played it because I wasn't having very much fun. I decided to retry it when everyone was really excited for a PC port and ended up absolutely loving it.

By amping up the atk, def, and health so you end up having to face down things like the big mimics that have no knockback with no real space to move around or a constant flood of bats making it feel like I'm playing Pokemon but worse since they're flying STDs.

Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen

Moon Lord doesn't inflict any Ankh debuffs, so if you've gotten this far without Ankh Shield, you don't have to worry about that. Obsidian shield is still core, though, for the knockback immunity.
Celestial Shell is nice; it's pretty easy to get a Moon Stone and a Neptune's Shell from a single Solar Eclipse if you have a Moon Charm lying around; otherwise, farming werewolves is a bit of a chore. Not sure how useful it would really be for Moon Lord, but any stat boosts help if you take the fight at night.
Ditch the Spectre Boots (you don't need them with wings or a flying mount) and combine that Philosopher's Stone with a Band of Regeneration; Charm of Myths is absolutely core for boss fights. If you somehow haven't found a single Band (which I think would be unbelievable), even the Philosopher's Stone alone is too good not to use.
Try to find another Martian Invasion (it happens quickly enough if you just stand in the space layer in one of the outer thirds of the world; bring a water candle and a battle potion to make it even faster, but you'll have to deal with more enemies) and exclusively farm the Saucers, kill as many as possible for a Cosmic Car Key. If you get one, you can toss the wings and equip Master Ninja Gear (or at least a Black Belt; the dodge chance is the important part).
If you're going to instead stick with wings, a Hoverboard provides unparalleled horizontal mobility and dodging ability at the cost of some vertical mobility (Fishron Wings, if you're willing to grind for them, offer even more mobility; not quite as effective horizontally, but they fly so long and so fast that they're still an upgrade).
Maybe you've already done this - I can't tell - but be sure to reforge all of those accessories to Warding.

Chlorophyte Shotbow with Holy Arrows, at least Frost Armor. Also, what kind of arena are you building?

If he can get a paladin shield he should replace the cobalt shield with that. That's 10 extra defense points at warding. I like to pair it with a Frozen Turtle Shell

I've found the Reindeer Bells to be way better for Moon Lord.

Also stack as many buffs as you can and be certain to pair your weapon class with the highest tier armor tier of that class available to you. Also make super healing potions.

So do we have any idea when 1.3.5 is due out?

goddamn i miss that feeling.
mining and suddenly getting attacked by that worm.
starting new and not consulting guides.
Terraria is still fun, but now I get autism on building comfy shit

...

But, user, this is Holla Forums. Are you ok, user?
That feel when TPP will never be finished

no user, im not.

but thanks for asking

8ch.net/pol/res/9258521.html

TPP will never be finished because we're living in it
it'll be finished when we all die

when will these stupid tumble balls fuck off? I've been stuck here ages ffs

Worst part is even if you pull off sealing them in down there; they'll magically get out and run your punk bitch ass down.

I really should start making outposts since Blood Moons are full of bullshit; can't even fight on top of my bases dome without some reaper killing someone low on the ground.

git gud

hang on the rope and pelt them with something?
