What are you talking about? Roadhog hooking has always been a guaranteed kill in 90% of cases. Hook, melee, shoot has always been the thing. All they did to the hook was change up how it connects to players and how hits were judged, nothing done to damage output.

He's right, they changed it so a hook victim always lands in front of Hog now and I think it affected how much damage he does, it's kinda silly that I manage to one shot Reaper now without using the melee.

Here's the deal: imagine you're playing Mei.
You're at full HP. A Hog hooks you.
à few months ago I'd immediately spam SHIFT and get into my cozy ice block. I'd recover back to around 170 HP while looking around. If I had backup, I'd re-engage the Hog, if not, I'd wall him and run away.

Here's how it works today:

I mean, with Tracer it's hard to tell since with 150 HP the Hog *might* hit all the pellets and that's hit for you. But anything with 200 HP should survive that. The Combo usually failed because if you weren't a retard you'd immediately backpedal before the melee. Most times, you escaped with only a sliver of health, but you did escape most times.
This lead to Hogs thinking and waiting before hookinh. They had to grab the alreayd hurt players, the one's with 120 HP running for an health pack.

Now all I got do is play the game normally. If the other team has 3 or more "squishies" just pick Hog and finish with 40 kills.
And this even has a terrible secondary effect:
There's a fucking Hog on both teams every game now. Fuck me, this is probabbly the more annoying shit too. There's always Hogs, ALWAYS. It's like teams only have 5 slots to pick heroes to mix and match, the 6th is alreayd occupied by the Hog.
It gets tiring and boring to play against Hog every single fucking match.
And on the off chance you yourself wanna play it, thought fucking luck. Every meta-shitter already read the meta-guide and found out Hog's hot shit now. Get a T1 internet conection or you'll never play him.

This gets me royally mad. The Hog isn't even aiming at all, just getting lucky.
And then you get to spectate the S76 in front of you taking potshots at the Hog, not dealing damage because he's too far, failling his missiles 2 times until the Hog refreshes the cooldown, hooks him and you respawn.

Mei is a character that's weak by design and made for low skill players. They just made her icicles snap onto heads and her ultimate is the second strongest in the game (Mercy's rez is easily #1)
Soldier did not need a damage buff, as now he's able to tank bus better than Reaper, who has been completely irrelevant since the Beyblade nerf.
Symmetra I'd also OP, but nowhere near as bad as soldier or Mei. The range can be kept if they reduce her damage. The shield generator stacking needs to be removed too. Otherwise Sym is fine.
McCree needs all fucking buff. I'd be happy if they just increased the range before damage fall off by 10m or shortened the roll cool down. Hes just a pointless pick when Soldier is that fucking strong

For you questioning how the hook works now. Think of it like this.
Hook 1.0 = Dark Souls backstabs. As long as the attacking person hits your back on your screen, the game will force the victim into the back stab
Hook 2.0 =Dark Souls 2 backstabs. The attacking person can start a backstab, but only if the ending of the initial backstab hit collides with a player will it pull them into a backstab. This doesn't mean it has to be a back though. It just has to collide

If a Roadhog misses a hook all he has is his right click for long range which is almost impossible to deal any damage with because the range needs to be ABSOLUTELY PERFECT for him to deal damage. And the other is a shotgun blast that doesn't deal damage if you're 1 meter away from him.

You absolutely cannot complain about Roadhog without complaining about half the cast before him.

An ult that only works if you lost a teamfight is somehow powerful? Zenyatta's is easily better because it lets you ACTUALLY WIN THE TEAMFIGHT. If, in the teamfight where Mercy uses ult, people died over a period of several seconds Mercy has 2 choices
1. Revive a few people and half the team is dead before they're up and running
2. Wait and hope to god you can rez more people
This of course is entirely dependent on whether Mercy is dead or not, because if Mercy is dead then she can't ult at all. And Mercy needs to be near her healing target, meaning she is super easy to kill. While being the worst support for the reason that she can only do one thing at a time.

Compare to the earlier example, Zenyatta. His healing is worse, but he can hang out in the back/safest place possible as long as he keeps line of sight. He can make any tank into a squishy. He can dish out damage. All at the same time. And when he ults, he gains a massive speed boost and nobody on his team dies.

There's no reason to pick Mercy over a character like Zenyatta unless you really desperately need a ton of healing. And in that role Ana outperforms Mercy as well. Mercy is purely for sub-gold level games where I can only assume entire teams die to burst damage from something like Dva ultimate and you need the Mercy to revive them afterwards. In which case there's a 99% chance the Mercy died as well because she has no real escape, just a dash to her teammates.

Yea, I really like this game but this is without a doubt the first time that I'm genuinely put off by their decisions. The CTF mode is atrocious and idk what the fuck they are doing with the character balance. They did admit that they are basing most of their decisions on character balance off of the PTR stats. This is a terrible way to go about it apparently because hardly anyone plays the PTR. They are forced to do this though as the console version can't do a PTR.

Zen's ult has a smaller radius. Requires Zen to move there. Requires the targets to not be anti healed, and can people can still be killed through it.
Mei's ult has a much wider radius. Doesn't require Mei to be there. Doesn't require targets to not be anti healed. Can be used as area denial even if people aren't there to follow up. Can be followed up by any character in the game as it allows easy headshots.
That's just Mei's ult though. Mercy's ult is a beast that most people don't have the insight to understand it's value.
Mercy's ult is best used on 1 person, often. You know that badass Roadhog on your team that requires their team to use cooldowns and possible ults to take down? Rez him. He gets some more picks while feeding you your Rez again. This snowballs. Watch high level Mercy play and you'll see what I'm talking about

you used to have to know how to hook to get around all the bugs. if you didn't know, more mobile characters could survive it because they'd spazz around and be pulled in front of hog at an awkward angle so he wouldn't be able to 1shot them. now everyone gets pulled right in front of you. on the other hand, it's a lot harder to get those bullshit hooks that you're used to because if widow just ducks so you don't see most of her body from below where you're probably trying to hook her from, the hook disconnects.

pretty sure there's no such thing tbh or you at least can't reach it. i remember trying this out at one point by jetpack jumping from the highest point on several maps with phara as well as normally, from the ground and i was noticeably higher on the former tries.

honestly, i think people are just a lot more ballsy against roadhogs right now cause they can't pull off the bullshit hooks anymore so if you manage to los them in the last moment you're free but that also gives the hog a lot more opportunities to score a normal hook which now results in guaranteed damage instead of a chance to bug out and pull the genji behind your character. if you want the bugs back you're retarded.

This, Noob and averages Mercies tend to think they need to save their ults for whenever 3 or more members of the team die at once, or after massive enemy ult spams. The problem with this is they'll usually spend most of the match with their ult charged but never using it, wasting any perspective ult charging time. They spend more time with the ult charged than charging the ult, which is inefficient. You're better off reviving specific members of your team first, usually tiering them off between each class. A good Mercy would revive a tank that dies immediately while not worrying about an attacker who usually has ways to get back to the front fast anyhow (Solider and Pharah). Secondary healers are also usually okay to use a revive on too, if the rest of your team is still alive as well.

While Zen is moving at SANIC miles per hour. Its not fucking hard and he can even stall important caps while his team revives by using it.
And Mercy's ult requires her to NOT BE DEAD which a Mercy will be all of the time.

I'd give anything to have Hook 1.0 back. I loved the fact that a Roadhog had to learn the matchup to get his instakill. It felt better, more rewarding. And the fact that people can't break the hook after it hit was a blessing everyone took for granted. People can talk about how bullshit it is to be hooked "through a wall" all you want, but breaking legitimate hooks should not happen. And now it does, all the time.

They do have things in common too. 3d single plane fighting. No stamina. Opponents attack slowly. No stagger animations during certain attacks.
The Tekken comparison was a jab atfighting games having terrible stories. You're incredibly stupid if you're trying to compare Dark Souls combat to Yakuza though. Dark Souls fighting occurs without entering another phase as the game is made for it. The 3d plane of fighting isn't on a single level and animations can be interrupted (but poise and hyper armor exist, they have breakpoints though). Attacks can be punished and evades can be punished as every decision leave a counterplay to be made. You really can't compare the to and your attempt to disagree to discredit me is pathetic.

I don't think the instant kill is that big of a problem. If you can instant kill with a Widow or Hanzo headshot, McCree flashbang and Fan the Hammer, Mei Freeze and Headshot then I don't see why Roadhog shouldn't get it

The only thing that really got nerfed about roadhogs hook was that you can't pull people down off high ground much anymore. Everything else seems to be just about the same if not, better. Sure you can't keep people from escaping from abusing latency but taht wasn't supposed to be there anyway.

It's not useless, it's worse. People who can't perform that headshot reliable still have to use FTH. Sometimes it's better to go with a safer option rather than always try the optimal one. Even the pros still use FTH occasionally.

Hanzo doesn't need to headshot. If you know how to aim that scatter ability it can pick off any target that dies to hook combo.

McCree Flash+FtH is worse than just Flash+Headshot for consistency, but you're extremely likely to get the kill if you headshot instead. As said FtH is essentially useless. Or rather its use is extremely limited, so much that it might as well be entirely useless.

Hog has 600 health and a self heal that heals 300, which makes engaging him at point blank utter bullshit, and his hook has insane range to it, so while yes those other classes can quick kill he's entirely unbalanced in why he can quick kill

It's not utter bullshit as the shotgun spread is crazy and he only has 4 shots. The hook will usually come back before he runs out of 4 shots though, which is what makes him dangerous. You shouldn't be engaging roadhog like that either. He's a massive ult farm for competent players. He is without a doubt one of the most powerful characters in the game but he is not overpowered.
Mei is overpowered since the buff, but she's still shit by design so she's not at the top like Roadhog is.
Soldier on the other hand, is strong by design AND overpowered so he's what demands a nerf right now.

D.va is shit now and an ult farm for any competent DPS. You just got used to playing the weakest DPS (who's really a support) character in the game

After repeated McCree nerfs he's not even optimal to bring to the table anymore, FtH is near worthless, and doesn't even break 300 damage, meanwhile Reaper can break 300 damage in his sleep at point blank and so can Soldier 76

Which is why everyone brings 76 now, he doesn't have burst but he does have the highest sustained and highest total damage output of any character in the game, and if something catches you off guard you just rocket them to the torso and headshot two or three times which is piss easy at point blank

Reinhardt is the best tank if your team knows what it's doing, however your team rarely knows what it's doing and D.Va just mops the floor with everything

Not to mention the 2nd most bullshit ult in the game, Mei takes that honor

No, he's fucking overpowered. He wasn't shit before, people where just shit with him. Now anyone can be competent with him because he deals so much fucking damage. The evidence of this is that he was still played in Tourneys before he got buffed. Now McCree (who is by design supposed to be the DPS of pros) isn't getting played in tourney's because 76 is so fucking over adjusted.
The reason he probably hasn't gotten nerfed yet was that D.va and the tank meta was a bigger problem.

Roadhog's hook is very high reward so it needs a higher risk than missing or MAYBE pulling a D.va Self-destruct at him. It needs to have a much longer cool down (10-15 seconds) to force players to not rely on it. His heal could also change because it soaks up way too much damage, maybe only recovering 250 or 200 damage would mesh better.

Soldier 76's burst is only 120 damage, which isn't one McCree headshot, unless you can follow up those rockets with repeated headshots point blank you're fucked because he's not a burst DPS character

If you ever decide to try Roadhog, you might notice his gun has a considerable spread. To anyone who has played the character for more than 10 minutes you will notice that you can not hit anything slightly away from you with any decent amount of damage unless you get lucky with right click.

This isn't even debatable. Roadhog will always rely on his hook, because his entire kit is based around the idea that he has to rely on his hook. Other than that he is a glorified Rein shield killer and close range tankbuster (only due to their massive hitbox). If you want to nerf the hook CD or anything else, then you need to compensate by giving him an alternate way of fighting. But I assume you just want to see Roadhog gone entirely because "lmao one shot", which as provided in the thread, there are many other examples of.

Hog is also massive, has no armor, has no mobility, has limited range, is very loud, only has 4 shots per reload, and relies on cooldowns primarily.

I'd thought I wouldn't need repeating the same things that have been said many times before, if only for posterity's sake. It is unbalanced (I'm sure they've changed stats since last I checked, but the ultimates being a meter that is constant between lives I know hasn't changed), it is repetitive since it's the same old generic game mods seen a thousand times before, not to mention the actual gameplay is basically TF2-lite. I've been told that once I get my ult that I should stop making healing/attack boosting my priority and instead hide until there's a partial/full teamwipe and a res is needed. Is that a thing? I already hide behind walls so I can heal and boost from a protected spot, avoid being in the middle of the group in case of Zarya/Reaper/Pharah/etc. ults, and when enemy teams start unleashing their ults I get the hell out of there so I can come back to res later. But to hide the majority of the time while my ult is active? First time I've heard of it.

And the user in this thread saying to res 1 person… Like, I get resing a tank at a hectic time or resing to keep overtime active, but to do it willy-nilly?

I can and do play other support characters but Mercy is fun.

I've heard that stopping heals to kind of synchronize your teammates' deaths is indeed a thing. I can't exactly say if it's a good idea, but I think the logic behind it is maybe to get enemies to waste ults and for your team to get as many kills as they can by themselves, and then basically resurrect and have another team fight right there on the spot once you've lost the one you're in. If you're healing while your ult is ready, you stand to risk accidentally keeping one or two people alive, resurrecting three dead teammates, and then those first two dying right after. You also obviously risk dying if you're out and healing. I don't see why damage boosting from a safe place during this time wouldn't be a good idea though.
I don't play Mercy or competitive though, so what do I know?

The team members that are holding back the enemy/pushing the objective? Res them. Hiding in a corner and stop healing just to let them die so you can ult is a rather backwards suggestion.

Although I got the new D.Va, Mei and Tracer skins, I'm still peeved that I didn't get either Zenyatta's or Winston's skins.

You still have time, buy them on the 12th though, blizzard has been ending the events early.

The idea is to give your team a second wind. The enemy exausts their resources, ults and abilities, then you Rez to bring your team mates back at full health for another team fight. Letting team mates die at the correct time is hard, but you can get along with just staying away from your team when theyre trying to bait enemy ults.

In general though a 1man res is VERY situational.
2man is usually good to go and what you mostly get if you don't just get steamrolled
3+is pretty much an always yes, unless you just capped a point, in that case don't bother if it's a 5man res though go for it, gotta get that potg
Also, you're the one looking around the most, call shit out.

Another thing I do is keeping the damage amp up, even if it ends in deaths on our side, both the one I'm pocketing and others. MAD, then res our part again. But that only works in a position where you have the upper hand.
Think Roadhog ult that isn't getting cockblocked by D.Va and I just boost through it, or Phara ult, or Rein hammering away.

Last but not least, boost a nanoboosted target for super fun times.

The thing is most Mercy's tend to not be at max healing range at all times and instead shove their magic sticks up their tanks arse so that when all the enemy ults come in, Mercy just gets wiped as well.

So we get the current situation where most Mercy's are shit and just hide off in a corner doing fuck all until the team is dead then coming in for a big 5 man res and often die before they can pull it off thinking they contributed. disregarding that the team wouldn't have died in the first place if they had picked lucio, zen or even sombra

I can say I've really grown to like playing as Lucio from the capture the flag gamemode, being able to go fast and walk rings around people makes the game rather fun.

How to fix it? Man I don't know. He wasn't that bad before, yeah cornerhooks were annoying as shit, but at this point all you need to do is wiggle near a corner and you're immune to hooks. When you hooked a dude, they'd be left nearby, sometimes to your side, sometimes in front, but it meant that you had to pull off a decent flickshot to get kills.
I'd just like to play as a squishy and not just knowing you're dead when you get hooked, no matter how bad the enemy Hog is.

I'd say they need to start by fixing Winston's barrier to that he's a legitimate alternative. On the other hand, I don't really want to see tanks continue to spiral upwards, so I don't know.

Dva can do it with the Matrix too. Most things that can't be absorbed by that are short range anyway. Zarya can bodyblock and use a teammate as well for a temporary barrier.
Winston's shit though, and the best use for the barrier is to jump on your oponents and use it there so they can't shoot out at your team.

Honestly, they should just lower the damage output of most tanks (except Dva) so they feel like tanks and not good substitutes for Attack heroes.

The main reason Reinhardt is so ubiquitous is actually his ultimate, or more importantly the fact that Reinhardt is the only reliable counter to Reinhardt's ultimate. If you don't have a barrier Rein can hammer down your team for a free wipe whenever he damn well pleases.

The ultimate itself isn't really irreplaceable, it's just that that uncontested it makes for a quick loss.

If Rein's barrier were less reliable due to a longer down time he wouldn't be quite so favored as a counter to himself and you might see more teams relying on Winston or Zarya instead.

There's an even more reliable counter to Earthshatter, which is not standing in a little group in front of Rein. Just like you should know not to walk between Lucio and a cliff. If you do you deserve what happens to you.

May as well say don't be within roadhog's hook range. Truth is you have to be able to contest the objective so staying completely out of earthshatter means either spreading out to the four corners or fleeing the point soon as he shows up, either way is a surer loss than eating the shatter.

I usually see team compositions that don't stick together very much, spreading all over, often just doing something like a core-team of 3 people going center and 3 other going around by different routes but keeping aware of what's happening to the main team.

Defense is weird but fun since it often devolves into a pincer-like strategy where instead of clumping together and trying to keep the enemy away, you spread around the point, let them come in and then attack from all sides. It's honestly much more effective.

I used to see things like Reapers dropping in the middle of a team and killing 4-5 with an Ult or Junkrat dropping a Riptire on the point to clear it up, both for defense and attack (there's some cool balconies in Uganda for Reaper to do this).
People learned from that and now you don't get more than 3 staying with the cart, if even that. The point also only sees all 6 teammates taking it after a teamkill, otherwise the tanks and supports stay on it but everyone else roams around to kill stragglers.

Rein needs close range to use Earth Shatter so it's actually easier to dodge it than most other Ults, you can literally see it coming. It has a nice use and it's surely better than Winston's Ult but Zarya and Dva together or even Roadhog with a good support clean house far more easily than Rein does.

He's still correct, it's a limit to the amount of posts that can bump a thread, a bump lock is a moderator doing it manually before the limit is reached.

This is a thread about Overwatch, not about Undertale or mobile games. You're using those examples because you're grasping at anything you can to make some logic out of this and appear to have a coherent argument, mixing apples with oranges.

Undertale came, was discussed as much as a short rpg can be discussed and then went it's way. The outrage with the thread from a lot of people came not because of the game but because of the faggots that simply couldn't let go and kept talking about a game when there was nothing else to discuss anymore.
Overwatch still sees content changes, releases, patches, new heroes and maps as well as competitive seasons and there's the whole meta to talk about. There's still discussion to be had about the game so it's not like Undertale at all.

Mobile games are shit by design, copy paste of unoriginal ideas from each other with the colors being the most significant change from each one.
The reason people don't talk about them that much is because there's not much to talk about games that often involve tapping as the only gameplay mechanic.
But funnily enough, there's sometimes indeed a thread about mobile games for android or other shit for people that want decent time wasters and those threads are recomendations about games that don't jew you too much but are still fun.
