The total population and inflow of new people/content just hasn't been enough to sustain a dedicated Touhou board indefinitely at the level it was during its better days. That's why it's easier to talk about on /a/ and Holla Forums: there's a larger population, more people are likely to go there, and those boards aren't dedicated to Touhou so the discussion and content stays fresher longer. Holla Forums gets 1-2 Touhou threads a month apart from the rabbit thread, and /a/'s slow enough to keep one up indefinitely.
Beyond all that, I fail to see how a once a month thread would be a major factor in ruining a board. /jp/ is still /jp/, /a/ is doing fine, and Holla Forums has always had its problems but still remains one of the largest in size.
Plus I volunteered just to purge the unrelenting spam that had been going on at the time. I have no desire to police discussion outside of the established rules or ban things I don't like, unlike certain mods over here on Holla Forums.

I have the same thing with normally being unable to sleep on my back. When I get barely any sleep the night before (so I can easily fall asleep) I sometimes cause sleep paralysis on purpose. Just have to close your eyes while laying on your back and avoid moving as much as possible even when your brain is telling you to shift around. At some point everything slightly tingles and you can't move even if you try.

Sleep paralysis isn't that scary when you know what it is, just an interesting experience. If it starts getting scary you can break out of it by holding your breath.

Funny, whenever I get it I feel like I can't breathe in the first place.

Well it worked, but I seem to have gotten the chinese version of the tradition.

You know, the one where you have abnormaly good luck on most things you need to have good luck on but in turn anger the fate gods so something extremely bad happens to you in order to even the universe.
Mainly, I passed all my tests with good grades but the only person I have social interactions with disappeared from the face of the earth and may or may not have killed himself.
