There is one big difference between Daisy Ridley and Natalie Portman. Natalie had pretty decent career prior to being cast in Star Wars. It is also worth noting that she wasn't the lead star of the prequels. That would be without doubt Evan McGregor, who was also established star prior to Star Wars.

Daisy has far greater risk of becoming Mark Hamill. Actor that has career pretty much entirely being defined by being the hero of Star Wars. His role as Luke was simply too iconic and he got into scifi actors hell where was simply too associated with that role to get much roles. There is a reason why ended up doing cheap scifi movies and then voice acting. Mark Hamill in my opinion was more talented actor than Daisy is currently.
