That looks like SFM m8. Traditional Gmod filmmaking was neat shit back then, you had to use the game's tools and methods to direct the film. Making contraptions, clever welding and camera placement, etc. There's a lot more soul and originality. The difference between Gmod and SFM to me is like the difference between practical effects and CGI in cinema.

There was this guy that did small audio skits using TF2 voiceclips, editing them, etc, so he would build a "story" and it would be one audio file in the end.
And then various gmodders would try to make videos to go along with the audio, so you'd get multiple versions of the same thing but you'd pick the one you liked best.

Well I don't like that point because it makes me feel sick. The background keeps moving and sure, that could be foreshadowing of the untrustworthiness of the 'friend', but that can also be done without moving the background so much.

'Story' SFMs are always cringy and most likely written by underages or people who never read a good book. 'Engineeh had a sentry, then it was destroyed and now he is crying, sob-sob, here, have a Saxxy'. I remember three (3) animators that managed to create worthwhile dramatic SFMs, and out of those only KrasniyB makes something I would call art. But even here you can make a strong point that his works are pretentious garbage, I won't argue.

Most of Gmod and SFM projects were helmed by underage. I prefer action or over the top SFM as for Gmod it's a mixed bag as tons are as you described so you have to find the unusual ones more often and even then they aren't amazing.
