A fun Boss Rush game.

An awesome Boss Rush game made in the Mugen Engine. Tons of characters and bosses.

A mix of R-Type and Gradius. It's a fun experiment

A Megaman X styled fangame. Very rough around the edges, but still fun

A Gianna Sister's game, hard as fuck. It runs on anything, so go get it.

A very well done game made with the the Doom engine Sourceport ZDoom. It's better at being Chex Quest that Chex Quest itself.

Well if you are talking about flash games, there is Mud and Blood: Vietnam and another game series called Endless War made by other guy.

I don't remember the name but there was also this series with at least 3 games and the art style was almost the exact same thing as your pics. There were multiple missions and difficulties and it normally involved shooting people until you ran out of ammo, picking up their weapons and going to the next room. You could also choose what you started with in a mission although some of the really OP guns had very little ammo or were very situational so you'd be running around with a knife or trying to pick up people's weapons really soon.

Megaman fangame with god tier original music. Unfortunately the resolution is ass and I've found no downloadable copy I can upscale.

Well, is not technically free (the .ips is, at least), but its one of the best Megaman romhacks, if not the best. Completely remade and huge, challenging levels with new gameplay mechanics and gimmicks, completely remade boss attack patterns, and an unlockable Arena mode.

A cross between CS and Unreal Tournament. Still rather active. Features bleeding and a bandage key to patch yourself or someone else up.

A roguelike open world procedurally generated zombie survival game with bionics, mutations and a fuckhuge crafting system. Devs went off the PC deep end and failed to deliver on kickstarter promises but the game is still free. Later patches included fursuits, if you rather not see them (instead of cleansing them in HOLY FIRE), look up an items removal mod, its easy to tinker with it to blacklist such things.

Twin stick shooter with upgrades and several characters, like Hyper Light Drifter but OSS and much less aggravating pixelshit.

Rather accessible, but still deep enough to be enjoyed by both newcomers of the genre and veterans alike.

Another roguelike, but with a more realistic low fantasy setting this time. Takes place during the iron age and is focused on survival. Don't let the survival focused gameplay throw you off though, this game has been in development for over 24 years now and has the entire survival game trend beat by a solid two decades. What makes it garbage is both the paywall and the gimmicks that allow them to monetize said paywall with little to no effort. While you're mostly right, I'd expect these games to be at least a little filling.

It's gameplay still isn't the best you could ask for, but at least you're not paying the lazy, potential-wasting dev for it. In the time it takes to play these, you can probably forget about the actually good games you want to replay a little bit more.

You get what you pay for. Free means old handovers from 20 years back, or hipster shit that no one can make profit from.

And most importantly you're limited in a selection of about ten titles from cuckistan. With piracy your selection has no limits, and you can switch channels whenever you dislike something.

Of course I know piracy exists, I pirate vidya as well and so do most of the people in this thread. This is a thread for free vidya, not a pirate virtue signaling thread. As for freeware, my friend once got me into this autistic game called "Deliantra" which had god-awful sprites, but it got taken down a while ago. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

It was a fucking shitty-ass game, because it tried to be an RTS and failed miserably, had inconsistent and shitty sprites which either looked like they were drawn by a 10-year-old or painted by cavemen with their feces. On top of that, the community was cancer, and the "Head GM" fucked a ton of shit up and absolutely refused to remove the EXP penalty on death, despite the game having runescape-esque training.

One guy, Elmex, tried his damndest to work on the game even after everyone had left before presumably drinking himself to death, as he vanished from the internet almost entirely. So much wasted talent on that game.
