CIS droids are underrated

I always thought those guys were kinda dicks because of that. I mean, the average B1 battle droid doesn’t exactly get dealt a great hand by life.

Why would you make a whole humanoid druid just to attach a single gun to it?

why not just nuke everything ?

Reminder that two droideka are more powerful than two jedi.

...

the virgin K2SO vs the chad Dark Trooper.

Dark Troopers were fucking cool, man. I kiss when heterosexual males wrote Star Wars.

gay

Aren't they used as labour, guarding etc? Just general purpose droids that are more resistant to damage?

SAD! Many such cases!

second one reminds me of enclave from fallout

stop

The CGI still looks great.

double jump and slam lightsaber into the ground to disable their shields

jedilets BTFO

They look like stupid toys, not a sliver of the threat emanating from a bunch of terminators, or even cylons (old and new). It's not the basics that the PT does wrong, it's in the execution.

That's kind of the point. Battle Droids are just a distraction for the Jedi until Palpatine can execute order 66

Phantom Menace's CGI is fucking awful though.

He over did it.

It's not so much age but I think Lucas wanted the CGI to look clean , round and shiny where as the OT looks dirty, boxy/angular (ship designs), and dull.

"I went too far in places"
I think is an accurate assessment of the PT.

droid porn
y/n?

looks good to me
thanks YIFY 10/10

That makes perfect sense though. The Phantom Menace is the end of a golden age, before the clone wars and the rise of the Empire. In episodes 2 and 3 you see designs become increasingly blocky and utilitarian, and then by the time you get to the original trilogy, everything not under the ownership of the Empire is a thirty year old relic, grimy and falling apart.

Considering that's exactly what the soyim behind Fallout ripped the idea from it's no surprise.

It makes sense but what I'm saying is that it was over done, it was a little too stylized to be clean & shiny. It needed a bit more subtly and perhaps he should have used more models particularity for the ships.

yee

seriously, though, there's only 19 years between ROTS and ANH

More physical models is always good, but I'm a fan of the designs.

Uh, yeah. That's what I meant.

here we go nigga

A large portion of Clone Trooper and Mandolorian lore was made by a huge fan girl

why didn't they use more of them

George Lucas spent 10 years working as a director, then another 20 in the toy industry. To the surprise of none, one he came back directing, he directed a toy movie.

I don't get this argument at all. It basically comes down to "I don't want things to look cool, because then kids might like it".

and you know what? It worked Episode 1 had abysmal toy sales and surplus out the ass but the biggest things that sold were battle droids. Come episode 2 introduce these cool looking guys in armor and other robots and the cash rolls in.

Only the third is fappable.

...

It does make you wonder though why they all don't have gun arms. Having to program and design working digits for using separate firearms just sounds like hell.

Makes them easily modifiable. If you want to give them a different gun, you give them a different gun. No need to replace a limb.

LOOK AT THE TOP OF HIS FRAME

Apparently slave kids with no education can cobble together humanoid robots in the Star Wars universe, though.

pretty kino design

Why is she so cute? ^_,_^

tbf even abboniggers in Australia are capable of some weird ork tier shit, so an uneducated slave kid in a hyper advanced intergalactic civilization is on about the same level relatively speaking (just without the petrol huffing and alcoholism)

It's her cute little head and and sphere body.

They probably require a lot of time and money to make. No matter how good they are, you can't put all your resources into elite units if they are going to be outnumbered and overwhelmed by the enemy. It's better to it into hordes of cheap robot soldiers. Look at the Germans in WWII. They made the King Tiger which was far and away the best tank of that war, but they couldn't make enough of them to fight off the countless Russian T34s, because they were so expensive to make. The T34 didn't even have enough firepower to pierce the Tiger's armor, but because they were so numerous, the Russian soldiers were able to close in and ram them into the German tanks until they were destroyed. Don't get me wrong, expensive elite units have their place, but you can't win a war with them alone.

The Panzer IV's KwK 40 and Stug III G's
Stuk 40 were more than enough to penetrate the T-34's frontal plate at any angle over 1,200 meters.

Some german tanks were worth 100 times the t34 in terms of k/d. Unfortunately the russians had more than 100 times as many of them.

In other words most vehicles the Germans had already outclassed the T-34/76 by 1942-43.
The T-34/85 only shortened (not cleared) the technological gap against the Panzer IV G, H, and J series as well as the Stug III G when it was rearmed with the 85mm gun, however the T-34's hull armor was never thickened on the T-34/85 it remained an impotent 45mm until the end of the war and the turret armor was cast armor on the 85 series which was of lower quality than RHA plate. The soviets themselves assumed 10-15% less effective resistance on their cast armor compared to RHA plate.
The Tiger II B was unnecessary to fight the T-34 the purpose of the Tiger I E and Tiger II B was to outclass and retain superiority over whatever soviet tank designs they were in the process of pushing forward and also to crush soviet break throughs using superiority in firepower (essentially German war doctrine) and armor to counter russian numbers. The Germans often used Tigers in conjunction with mobile rocket artillery Panzerwerfer 42s for this kind of mission.
