BALLS OF STEEL, WHAT IS THAT?
...
Was the shadow warrior reboot actually worthwhile?
A proper Duke Nukem in the current climate would instantly produce a feminazi shitstorm of epic proportions because the perpetually offended are too dumb to realize that the Duke is a walking self-parody by design.
Also, Gearbox would have to be atomized in order to free the Duke from his shackles, and his voice actor is a cunt who threw a hissyfit against the fans when the latter complained about Gearbox's remake being shit.
Yes and no. The modern Shadow Warrior - with the "Lol I'm such a nerd I buy comic books XDDDD" Lo-Wang has very little to do with the old "You want to see see Wang wash Wang or you want to wash Wang?" Lo Wang. The younger version by all means has been made as politically correct as possible, barring the mishmash of Chinese and Japanese mythology used in the story.
It went wrong when George Broussard was given the reins of the Duke post-D3D. He was given the George Lucas treatment by his staff, and he squandered any momentum they had by instead sitting on 3DR's forums all day, making blog posts about his Porsche and being an untalented fat fuck in general. DNF was fucked from the get-go because Broussard continually chased the dragon of 3D tech as opposed to making a good game.
He got the idea that he was smarter than John Carmack and John Romero. Except instead of putting out a game of its own character, he copy-pasted segments of other games because he thought that DNF needed those things too. So instead of carving his own path with Duke, he manifested development trends through DNF's development cycle, and we got…well, that.
I would love nothing more than to see a livestream of Broussard getting his shit repo'd, winding up living in a motel before he finally blows his brains out in the bathtub.
You know you're a fuckup when you make Randy Pitchford look good in comparison, when he's just as untalented and undisciplined as Broussard is.
No, he could only exist at a time where adverts like this wouldn't kick up a huge shitstorm. Duke Nukem is of a sensibility that is simply lost in this day and age.
Admittedly I never played the original but I kind of want to since it seems like a Build engine game, and the reboot is kind of boring since it has weak feeling weapons unless you upgrade the fuck out of them.
Or at the very least even devs like Running With Scissors support the hell of their games with a tiny budget, and SW though lackluster was a reboot, how come Gearbox cant even do that or something like Serious Sam HD? They couldnt even add more content to Duke Nukem World Tour, they only did one patch to fix the horrible sound issues and that was it.
Because Duke Nukem World Tour literally was just a cash grab, same as Colonial Marines.
After that other game (Battleborne?) flopped, I think there's in a bit of a tight spot as far as finances are concerned.
not unless bethesda gets the rights to make a new game
