I can't stand Base because if you lose control of the interior stairs you've basically lost the whole match unless the objective is basement. The upper floors are basically just undefensible deathtraps and you can't really roam or be sneaky at all since everyone can hear everything in the building from anywhere.

It makes it so much fun having those cinematics so it feels like you actually accomplish something. Fuck are they ever gonna patch in a full on coop campaign? The season pass content is all free or can be gained through grinding except for the little weapon dongle and the weapon skin. The only benefit is you get all of the new operators without having to grind them out and you get them a week early.

Maps are free, DLC operators cot a lot of grindbux unless you buy with money, most cosmetics can be bought with grindbux but can also be bought with money, some cosmetics are cash only. There is nothing in this game worth a damn that can't be bought with in game currency, money only makes you grind less and will give you a shiny hat.

I fucking hate when playing Fuze that some team mates will SHOOT THE FUCKING WINDOW I JUST FUZED SO NOW I LOST A FUCKING FUZE AND THEY KNOW WHERE WE ARE.

On the other hand, put a fuze charge on a wall in University. The enemy team heard it and shot wildly into the wall, destroying the entire thing… except the ONE SMALL CHUNK my bomb was latched onto. Quickly clicked the detonator and watched one of the better fire works shows of my R6:S life. Echo's mangled corpse actually flew out of the lack-of-wall they shot out and his leg was hung up on the chunk that remained, making for a hilarious display of my blow-you-the-fuck-up skill.

I guess I'm just retarded then, but I stand by my statement that Sledge is more of a soft counter than a hard counter to Castle since if he's breaking a barricade you know more or less where he is and can preempt or retaliate. Ash just blasts that shit from a mile away and already has her gun out and ready to shoot by the time it breaks. Castle will never be a good pick until Ash and Fuze see nerfs but I don't expect Ash ever will and even if Fuze goes back to how he used to be I think people will just keep playing him out of habit.

I'm leery of a UI update, I really hope they don't go for some retarded minimalist shit which seems to be all the rage these days. Firing range might be nice but I think the information on shots to kill and whatnot is already out there for every weapon.

Ash and Sledge are both solid hard counters to Castle, but with Ash it's far more detectable while for Sledge there's more risk.

For Fuze Castle is a mixed bag. It depends ENTIRELY on if Mute is doing his job. Funny enough, I main riot Fuze and Mute because when I play Mute I consider all the spots I would Fuze from after I'm done dealing with drones during the prep. For wooden ceilings Mute might as well shrug, though, as there simply isn't enough coverage for that.

If you have a good Mute, Castle, Jaeger, and Bandit working a somewhat active defense they can hold an area for a decent amount of time. Rook would normally finish this by handing out armor. Once defenses are set, mostly only Bandit and maybe Castle should stick around, though Bandit, Mute, and Jaeger can be hard countered by Thatcher or a good Twitch who actually focuses on stealth disabling with her drone. (I do this sometimes)

What are some tacticool strategies to use in this game? I feel like I'm playing smart but not smart enough.

Shooting down from the floor above is neato.

On bomb shoot the walls out that are in the path of bomb A and B so you can shoot at both points and get there faster.

Fire holes in odd spots to create dirty firing ports in awkward spots.

I like to make tiny holes via melee in walls in the direction I know the enemy is in. Works a little too often.

Only works if there aren't many people left and if someone decides to push out at the same time you run around to look in you get fucked but that's kind of the case for every strategy anyway. When it works it works amazingly.

Deception is great but somewhat difficult to pull off. In general it's best to keep moving and stay as erratic as possible to make you less predictable.

Cavaira is good if you want to be sneaky and helpful, Echo's Yokai is pretty useful since you can blind people and cancel shit like defuser planting and Montagne's shield.
Both pretty good choices tbh.

Echo is either
a) A team player that supports his team with call-outs and disorientations from his drone and can effectively swap back and forth between Echo and Yokai
b) MLGProOneManAce
c) Fucking worthless because you just sit with your dick in your hand on your drone and then spam a couple sonic blasts into someone and their teammate kills your gadget

Caveira's got a lot of potential to fuck up the enemy team, between being sneaky, having impact grenades, and being able to down people with her suppressed pistol and either interrogate them or bait out more teammates to come save whoever's downed.

Cav is one of the best roamers in the game, only smoke and jeager come close to her. Echo is great for holding certain spots, and he's god tier on bomb because he disrupts planting and you can cover A while your drone covers B. Although he has a drone, it acts more like a reusable valkyrie cam.

I'm a team player. When I play twitch I remove cams and all the shit they set up. I also give callouts, so I imagine I'd play him the same way as far a "support" in this game goes.

It's why I think I might get her next. She looks really fun to play too.

When I started to play the game right. I was really shocked how many people can't play this game right. Half the time I see them not understand they can lean and never check their corners.

I was in a tied game last night and we lost when I got greedy and went for the kill instead of just waiting, something very unlike me since I'm always the one to say "wait it out." I felt bad for throwing an OT game, but I won't make that mistake again. These range from uninteresting to useless in my opinion, although Thatcher seems to have a cool gimmick going on with his grenades disabling even lights and holosights.

In order of importance; Thatcher, Twitch, IQ or Glaz, Pulse, Castle, Tachanka.

Thatcher is top tier and really should be on almost every single team. His grenades counter mute, bandit, kapkan, jaeger, valkyrie, and echo.
Similar for Twitch, taser drone works on pretty much all that stuff except mute jammers.
Pulse is an amazing defender for aggressive players and gets shitloads of kills on people thinking they can safely rappel along the walls or wander around objectiveless areas safely.
Glaz is really good on many levels, particularly Plane where he can shoot through the windows and completely shuts down movement through the main hallway.
IQ, Tachanka and Castle are the only ones I would say it's fine to skip but even there it's not like any of the DLC ops are so amazing you need to prioritize getting one of them over getting all three of those.

Well it's not even been a week since battleye did its massive ban wave and I'm already running into blatant cheaters again. I guess the cheater-free experience was nice for the day or two it lasted.

TO be fair, the original Rainbow Six didn't let you jump, and you had to contextual vote.
The damage+weapon system was even less forgiving however, so you'd never live to vault out unless a stormtrooper was firing at you.

Who should I buy at first?

Something that's been the hardest for me to adjust to personally is that this is not TF2/CS/CoD/UT or any other shooter where you GOTTA GO FAST. R6S requires you to be far more methodical in approaching a situation than those other games, as going in too quickly with too little information will usually get you killed

We ended up turning the match around and won 3-2, mostly because we started actually using comms and didn't all go our own ways or cluster up in the objective room. One of the greatest tools in the game is the yellow ping mark you get when using the Z-key. You can call out enemies to your teammates, or label areas of importance. Even if you don't know all the operator names, you can still say something like "Enemy at my marker"

Rook for defense, IQ for offense. Rook all you have to do to be a credit to the team is drop your armor first thing every round and then sit around the objectives and try to remember what you see teammates doing to copy them in the future. IQ you're not going to be a credit to the team but you can use her gadget to learn where all the cameras are on the maps so in the future you can shoot them out before they spot you.

This spot. It's guaranteed that Thermite/Hibana will break the walls from the middle to right side, as marked, for tactical advantage.

I like that spot on Def. I keep trying to do the bandit trick there since I know they're going to hit it. So far I'm not very good at it.

Best Operators to Unlock First?

Just finished all the situations, any recommendations on what operators to get first, if there's any that's always recommended for beginners.

Already got Sledge, his hammer seemed useful.

ATK: Therm, Monty
DEF: Rook, Gambit or Mute

The rest are more which play style do you like better those are basically the jist of every operator, but you might want to check out glaz too and see if you're good with him hes fun to play as when i play him

Thermite and Thatcher both synergize well in getting to the objective and breaching walls (Thatcher using EMP grenades to clear out anything nasty around the objective or anything inhibiting Thermite from breaching, and Thermite bringing the big booms)

Jaeger, Bandit, Mute, and Rook are all defenders whose job can be considered "done" once they set down their devices, especially Rook, leaving you free to roam and no hard feelings if you die early/quickly. Bandit and Mute can inhibit breaching, Rook lets you teammates and yourself survive more bullets, and Jaeger helps prevent grenadespam/fuzespam.

I think you read a little too far into that statement. You're still largely "done" with your job as Mute once you've hidden the objective and moved your jammers onto the windows/reinforced walls, even if you haven't used your C4 yet.

Holy shit, this is ridiculous. Most online shooters I tend to at least be 'alright' at. Not this one.

I'm going to call bullshit on players again, there's got to be cheaters. Like in this match a Glaz shot two guys through two walls to death with no visibility whatsoever.

The problem with me is that I can't see shit when playing this game for some reason, I use the sights and for some reason the people in the distance look like blobs and I can't seem to figure out if there is actually a person there.

I keep hearing talk about there being a shitload of cheaters, but I can never tell.
for example, when moving up a stairs and there's an enemy coming down, you won't see him until the last moment but in the kill-cam he can clearly see you.
It's fucking weird.

That still happens to me and I have 136 hours, shit's just hard to spot sometimes. Only advice I can give is put acogs on everything for that extra bit of zoom, learn the common spots people like to sit in and just shoot into them regardless of whether or not you're sure there's someone there. Best case scenario you kill someone by accident, worst case scenario you give away your position (which good players will likely already know from cams, comms and footsteps) and maybe bait them into moving and being easier to spot.

If CS does, then yes.
There are many ways to have fun in siege, whether it be running around like a maniac with a shotgun, or playing BM characters like Kapkan or Tachanka and making people mad by simply existing. If griefing is your thing, there's ways of doing that too.
The game isn't about skill just in a pure aiming sense, although you're probably already good at that from playing CS (I should hope), rather it's about making knowledgeable decisions to gain intel and act quickly upon it. Maps are big, and have lots of destructible walls, so running in and killing someone might not be as smart as using your drone to peek in first, then wallbanging him while he's checking his own cameras. Being good at Siege means knowing maps, knowing spots people hang out on them, and being faster to hit them in the head, or just sneaking up on them before they see you.
Short answer: Yes the game rewards skill, but doesn't necessarily require it based on character. (For example playing support rook is braindead, drop armor for everyone, and just hang out in objective)
If you enjoy micspam, there's push to talk, and detect when speaking, so do with that what you will. keep in mind anyone can mute you, and it's fairly easy to access.
Not much else you need to know, it's on sale on greenmangaming for like 25 bux, but they seem to come out with a starter edition twice a year for 15 bux. It's a LOT easier to get characters with ingame bux (that you earn plenty of in any match) if you buy the normal edition, but if you plan to play a lot, starter edition is a good option. You also always have recruit who gets every gun in the game, but has the tradeoff of few gadgets, no special gadget, no sight options besides ironsights, (which most of are bad) and having a weird southern-esque accent.

Depends how people do it, you don't know what information they've gotten/been given by their teammates, for instance that either spotted someone or they heard them. Across-the-map-through-the-wall shit is either a fluke or cheating though, and if it's a fluke it's generally just someone trying to open a barricade that someone was behind.

There's been people pointing out some fairly high-profile wallhacks, but I haven't run into any of them.

I mean I am good with aim, just not in CS. I can't hit a damn thing with all the random nonsense going on. I only ever really use a scout for fun.

Then you'll probably be fine at shooting in Siege, for lack of a better comparison it has CoD style aiming where when you aim down sights it's perfectly accurate on the first shot with controllable semi-random recoil and when shooting from the hip it's basically a crap shoot. Unlike CoD though the game is both designed around slow careful movement and leaves you much more mobile while aiming so it actually works with the game flow instead of making for retarded sprint-then-stop shit like in CoD.

I think that was my first fucking ace ever and the whole time all I could think was how pissed I was for getting rolled so hard the last four rounds and how much I hated the map and should have picked any other character. I guess hatred is really the best motivator to do well at games

Almost looks like a fusion between Clubhouse and House rather than the coastal castle I've hoped to see, but it still looks interesting

So the castle bit is just the tower and what looks like one unconnected room for the attackers to stage from and it doesn't look like there's a whole lot of destroyable walls. Reminds me a lot of Skyscraper but more sprawling looking.

i'll generally vouch for sledge as a first attacker pick, and rook as a first defender pick. sledge can work roaming or with a group and doesn't change the operation too much if he dies. with rook all you need to do is drop your gadget at round start and you can take time to learn what to and what not to reinforce
