This is true. Overwatch bores the shit out of me and I only play it because my brother does and it's a fun way for us to bond. It's them that make it fun. However they don't want to play anything else with me. I love fighters but my bro barely plays them like he used to. He usually only sticks to western games now while all I play are JP fighters and niche "weeb" games.

Absolutely this. Get them into Zero Hour if you can too, since it'll have a lot of different generals with diverse playstyles. I've played it at least every week since it came out. It's probably one of the best RTS games out there.

Playing cooperatively against the A.I is the best shit for a casual.
Using Jarmen Kel to shoot a building unit and telling said casual to mount it with an infantry unit, letting him have the enemies whole arsenal.

RTS is a lost art

My boyfriend and I went through some fun with rise of the reds. Absolutely fantastic time. I accidentally curbstomped the AI to the point they stopped sending units my way though, so we both got bored and started attacking each other.

I play without the music to be honest. I've never really cared for the music in ROTR since it clashed with the C&C style i'm used to.

As for the ECA, I'm gonna say yeah. All their artillery units, and infantry are sport fucking on and absolutely fun to use, but the other vehicles and airplanes are so damn boring. That said, I still main them. There's something just so much fun about using their super weapon with the pandora protocol.

The funny thing is my bro got me into video games when I was younger. He used to play games like that all the time and was definitely the opposite of casual. Over the years he just stopped giving a shit and became casual (in a sense of tastes. Skill wise he's obviously no casual). Probably because he found new hobbies which doesn't surprise me. However I stuck with vidya and now or tastes are completely different.

Another way to look at it is that the 90's and early 00's were so good that you could pick up any game that was moderately advertised and find something worth playing. If that was the case then he was always casual but the industry its self had a different idea of what casual was.

Its this, they'll just play whats popular, since the 90s vidya has been relatively mainstream but still shunned still it became increasingly streamlined and after that downright dumbed down to sell more as these companies grew and production costs increased as well.
Since 2007, the huge amount of people flooding the hobby plus nerd culture and the financial crisis making companies to save up on costs drove to a big drop in quality and standarts, the more advertised products nowadays are pretty much all the stale shit to pander people that like all genres mixed in but that don't do any of them great.

I've seen people drop vidya saying they grew out of it (because you can grow out of movies and other types of media right?)
Yet most just stick with it go with the flow fall for ads and peer preassure with more often than not being dissapointed or not enjoying the game itself but the socialization aspect of it.

Any time I'm with him and some shitty song comes on the radio, I'll call it shit and then, without fail, he'll tell me that it can't be shit because it made millions of dollars. I usually respond by telling him that commercial success and quality are barely related, and he has no real response to that.
