By the way Bomberman 64 was fantastic and it was fun trying to explore to get costume pieces and gold cards. They really understood the game's physics system and the Rainbow Palace was impossible for me without a guide. Some of the bomb platforms you make in general were ridiculous.

Also Superbus gave me a Japanese gameboy game of Bomberman. I still have yet to play it but I look forward to it.

I think the issue is that there are two different currencies depicted there. G and gems. A lot of times, freemium games will have two ingame currencies, one earned during gameplay, and one bought with real money.

They played with a guy from Konami (Probably some outsourced guy), and he said they hacked 50K in just for the demo, but in reality it would be used to buy cosmetics inside the game (You can choose your costume after selecting the color).
While this does not rule out buying gems, it doesn't confirm it either, although it is very suspicious.

They could be doing what was done in smash where coins were used to gamble on higher difficulty.

Now maybe there's some other kind of jewery about, but spending in game currency on continues isn't bad at all.

As of now, there aren't any major casinos or anything because further legislation regarding regulations/taxes/etc. needs to be introduced and passed because they don't have a roadmap on this, but it'll likely be pushed through. Konami is probably re-evaluating their strategy, so they're focusing on their digital products. Especially with the development of the Nintendo Switch, they don't want to miss the opportunity to accumulate shekels by having a beloved IP be a launch title. It'll pass like a fart in the wind if they were to release it any other time.
