Mirage: just a doormat, supposedly a scientist at the start but she promptly forgets that in order to make helping the turtles (and later Casey) her entire life. 1987: The one for dudes that want a gf that's also their mom. Dotes on the boys, but gets something out of it since they do help her get scoops for her career as a journalist. More of a win-win relationship.Archie: Basically the 1987 version but they take things a step further with Splinter teaching her ninjitsu so she isn't a damsel in distress so often.2003: Back to being a doormat, albeit with better dialogue, and every once in a while they remember that she'd been established as a scientist at the start. Still lets the boys upend her life and never complains. Sure they saved her at the start, but she lets them define her.2012: Divisive for a number of reasons, but again a version that has her own desires and doesn't always agree with the boys. The minor telepathy was a good way to explain her not being useless in a fight, the phoenix-level telekinesis was just bad.IDW: Focusing more on her as a scientist and as someone that can funnel info from Stockman was a good idea, but she ended up underused since she couldn't do much outside of those two things.Rise: A friend that's a girl and also black. No further development.

>>116892418right answer. though movie II and III april was cuter, she had less of that authentic new york single woman vibe. She was more of a Cali cutie.>>116893924>2003 a doormatare you fucking seriouslying me? she was non-stop 24/7 grrl power, as was the 4th movie april, who was basically transplanted from the show despite soft-belonging to the movieverse. but unlike her, it felt more natural. it just sucks how casey has to be humiliated to make april look better.. why can't they both be badass?

I never watched 2012 but she works me into a shoot brother

2003 April looked pretty good in the jumpsuit.

>>116895073No, she wasn't. She was the most forgettable version of the character next to Michael Bay one.

>>116895272She was the only one that was actually interesting and was a proper character.

>>116895159>she was non-stop 24/7 grrl power,Watch it again. The "grrl power" amounted to the occasional snarky line. She got to be actually useful in terms of physically doing something maybe 5 times in the first two seasons, and there really wasn't much depth to her - no real goals. We got a jump to the future where she was one of the founders of O'Neil Tech, despite the show almost forgetting her science background up to that point, in favor of having her do the antique store thing since it was in the comics. The boys and Casey constantly broke her shit and she would express displeasure for a few moments before basically letting them off the hook. To be sure, the turtles saved her life so she owes them bigtime, but yeah, she was giving a LOT and not getting much in return after a while. Doormat.

cunny april > ebony april > 2000s april > the rest

>>116895234I never understood they updated her outfit look, but gave her a grandma hairstyle.

>>116895535Perfect retort for nonsense you're spewing, waifufag.

>>116895211I can't tell what your point is so I choose to just hide this post.

>>116895369>She got to be actually useful in terms of physically doing something maybe 5 times in the first two seasons, and in the later seasons it was nonstop. plus she didn't appear that often. when she did it was all about her kicking ass and being tough. what you're describing is just an interesting, put-upon character who exists to make others look annoying and undesirable. a Bert, not a doormat.

>>116895535What about her was interesting? What made her a "proper character"?The closest thing she had to a life outside the turtles and Casey was her running the antique store that her dad left her and the occasional "also I have an uncle" bit.

>>116895413it's really hard to draw that hairstyle properly, yeah. especially with 4kids at the helm.

>>116892318Unzip the jumpsuit until it exposes the midriff. Then, everyone wins!

>>116895598I’m just criticizing your word choice. I agree that the design is weird, but it’s not “art” in the same sense that the drawn images of the other cartoons’ Aprils are “art”It can be argued whether it’s “art” in the sense that music and other things are considered “art” but that’s not what I was talking about.

for me it's Vasquez short April

>>116892318Ok, but she doesn't show a midriff and I don't know why you didn't crop the two on the right.

>>116895624Not that user. But wasn't also a tech girl? Didn't she also start learning martial arts at some point? I feel like you either didn't watch the cartoon or you're purposefully downplaying some of '03's character.

>>116896212When the movie came out they tried to synergize by putting her in the movie's suit and giving her a few martial arts bits, but not much. The tech was pretty much just helping Donnie with computers, which he already had covered pretty well. More to the point, she didn't really have a life outside the guys. '87 April had a career and was constantly chasing Big Stories trying to improve her standing as a reporter, and asked the boys for help with things that mattered to her. 2012 April's schtick was how much she cared about her dad, asking the boys for help, wanting to come along because she wanted to be there for her dad, and even demanding the guys get the hell out of her life when they fucked up and Mr. O'Neil got mutated. 2003 was pretty much always just someone along for the ride, not asking for anything - well, I guess the uncle episode, but that was kinda weird one-time-thing. I get that the series is pretty beloved, and with good cause, but while it did a decent job adapting Mirage April... Mirage April was so awful to begin with, trying to work with the source material was kinda a handicap.

>>116896339Alright, let me flip this back on you. Outside of '87's career, what did April have that made her an interesting character?Outside of 2012's dad, what did April have that made her an interesting character?I have to ask, because when you say that 03 was close to Megan Fox, I'm inclined to call bullshit.

>>116896408>You mean the Megan Fox movie, right?People always forget TMNT: The movie. As they should.Bear in mind, I'm not claiming that any version of the character was great, just that 2003 was especially weak. All of them are brave to an extent, willing to endanger themselves for others, and able to make friends with utter oddballs. The 87 version also had a career that she was gung-ho about, and would sometimes walk up to the boys asking for their help. She could drive the story. So could 2012 to an extent, since there were plot points about them looking for her dad, looking into her weird anti-mutation mutation, and her powers. 2003 just didn't do much driving of the plot in comparison.Still beats Rise, obviously, who I'd barely even consider a character.

Attached: no the 2007 movie.jpg (681x383, 60.3K)

>>116896541Nah. Let's go back in time. To this post >>116895272Also, what do you mean 03 didn't do much plot driving? She set the whole story in motion.

>>116896572Oh, that post wasn't mine. Not entirely sure I'd agree with it, but I'll say that 2003 was better than Bay's which in turn was better than Rise's. >She set the whole story in motionWhat, by being the damsel in distress when Baxter pulled his shenanigans? I guess. I was thinking more in terms of how 1987/2012 would go "guys can you do something for me?" more than the time when 2003 went "can someone save me, please?"

>>116896648Hold up. Now you're talking total nonsense. 1987's April was always the dumbass in distress. She always needed saving. She always went to the guys because she couldn't get things done herself. 03 wasn't a damsel because of Baxter shenanigans. She infiltrated his facility and undermined him. If you're going to act like 03 was the one who needed saving all the time, you've got rose-tinted glasses on and I suggest that you watch the 87 cartoon again.

>>116896716I will definitely agree that '87 April ended up needing saving WAY more often. She's known for it. But she also provided more than her fair share of story-prompts by looking for trouble herself. She was a Lois Lane, poking her nose into shit and then needing saving. Not a GREAT character, but a start.2003 didn't need saving all the time. She didn't need much of anything most of the time, because she was firmly in the background providing support. You brought up the time that she drove the story, and yeah, she DID drive that story... by poking her nose into shit and ending up in serious trouble, right out of the '87 April playbook. And then she stopped contributing even that much to the narrative, instead becoming "the girl that has a place for the boys to crash" and "occasional distraction" for most of the first two seasons.Still better than Rise, and again I wouldn't call any of these versions of the character especially good characters, but 2003 I would definitely put below 2012 and 1987 for how much she really contributed overall. She snarked a bit, that was mostly it.

What about Bebop and Rocksteady?I thought IDW was the only form where they managed to juggle being goofy idiots and dangerous violent sociopaths.
