>>116882249zIt's kinda weird seeing Frost be this whole semi-maternal big sis to Kitty, just based of they're histories.
>>116882245>Thank goodness the mere pretense of permanent death will no longer be even hinted at or played up for sales. This but unironically.
>>116882205That's it? That's fucking it? She just wasn't breaking out of the egg? Are you fucking kidding me?
>>116882228I can't tell if this is foreshadowing or not.
>>116882333Mutants are dumb.>>116882352Maybe Shaw's plan was to make a fake kitty upload?
>>116882333it doesnt explain she cant go through the gates
>>116882245>Thank goodness the mere pretense of permanent death will no longer be even hinted at or played up for sales. You'd be nuts if you thought Kate would stay dead.People didn't take death seriously before HiX-men, why would they take it seriously now?It was a meme before and most fans assumed semi-popular characters would never stay dead
>>116882228This absolutely is foreshadowing. No other reason to take interest in that otherwise. >>116882035By the way, having Ilyana and Rachel here is more subtext. When will Marvel be brave enough to let the three of them come out of the closet already? We all know, they do too.
>>116882417Given how close they are, I would imagine Kurt was keeping track of every time they tried to resurrect Kitty, and notices the numbers don't add up
>>116882417They're Kitty's best friends, of coarse they get special attention.
>>116882443Exactly, the fact that he was writing to her every day and made a point to that shows he knows something isn't right. >>116882473Somebody post the "very close friends" strip.

>>116882524Ohh okay, interesting. I learned something new today.
>>116882404I certainly wasn't taking the death seriously, quite the opposite. Death in comics has been a joke for decades but the audacity of literally showing that all your characters can die and be reborn without repercussion ...AND THEN trying to get fans to take the death of one character seriously is insane. On top of that; you setup a plot point that this singular character is alone in her inability to be reborn ...AND THEN she can simply removes any shred of concern the audience might develop. No risks = no excitement, which would be fine for something mundane like a slice of life comic but when you are trying sell people on a life-and-death struggle for the future you kind of need the whole "death" part of the equation. We know Spider-Man won't die. We know nothing keeps Superman down for long. We know the heroes will return but you could at least play the game with us a bit. The X-Men essentially lampoons the very idea that we should be invested in these characters. It's like professional wrestling, we know it's fake but don't look at the camera and wink at us.
>>116882546
>>116882035THE ABSOLUTE BALLS ON SHAW TO SHOW UP
>>116882580>AND THEN trying to get fans to take the death of one character seriously is insaneThat's not what happened though, they held the funeral because they thought she couldn't be brought back not because it mattered less. You're way off. This run in particular has shown that the assumption that deaths are meant to be a risk should end, precisely because readers know they come back. It's to push the envelope so the new risks are different. You thinking that there's no risks BECAUSE deaths don't matter shows you haven't understood yet.
>>116881995Kurt is a good friend
>>116882110
>>116882417I was actually thinking about this last night, if they finally do bring them out of the closet I would like Claremont to write a backup story of them in Excalibur or some stuff of them in the old days where they almost got together or something.
>unironically wanting more characters to be retconned into homos
>>116882631No, you misunderstand my point. What I am objecting to is the notion that writers can still use the death of a character, that is effectively immortal, as a shocking moment or a cliffhanger. I fully understand the motivation of the characters in the story and why they were saddened by her death. I question why we the audience should care. You say the story is trying to show the audience that death is not a concern... but they're trying to have their cake and eat it to. Hey fans death doesn't matter but OH NO! Kitty is dead! Check out the shocking fallout in 30 days! Oh...yeah, she's fine.I want them to explore repercussions other than death, I crave it! Death has been a cheap tool to pop sales for decades. Unfortunately, they still haven't figured out there own path forward and this story is a textbook example of using death to further a story. Show me something new this story told us.
>>116882580>Death in comics has been a joke for decades but the audacity of literally showing that all your characters can die and be reborn without repercussion ...AND THEN trying to get fans to take the death of one character seriously is insaneFair, It is a bit manipulative to handle it like that, but I always suspected that it would be a situation where the real tension is in what has happened in Kitty's absence. In particular, Shaw seemingly working directly with enemies of Krakoa and potentially sabotaging the state.>The X-Men essentially lampoons the very idea that we should be invested in these charactersI see what you're saying but I think that was sort of the intention. The characters are immortal as long as the Krakoan state (and specifically Cerebro and The Five) are around. So all the tension comes around to the preservation of Krakoa, rather than the preservation of individual Mutants.I think that's why X-force and Wolverine are probably my favorites of the new books: the threats they face there are the most grave and direct threats to the survival of Krakoa and, by extension, the survival of every Mutant living there
>>116882829You've got a point, that it's a bit trite to say "and now, canonically, no mutant can ever die (assuming these specific circumstances are present)" and then to make Kitty seem like an exception and then to go back on it. Presenting Kitty as an exception to this rule in an attempt to raise the stakes is honestly unnecessary and it would have been more interesting if Shaw just made her disappear into some place where she wouldn't be able to be escape or rescued
>>116882829>Check out the shocking fallout in 30 days! Oh...yeah, she's fine. She's been dead way longer than this and I don't mean necessarily due to covid, so no, this isn't some kind of bait and switch. Again I don't think you've been following closely, specially judging by this>I want them to explore repercussions other than deathSince the point of her death and no one finding out what happened until now (and only after scanning Lockheed's mind) was to see how Shaw has his own interplays and openly killed another mutant to pursue his interests. This is an inner war with its own consequences, the death in this case was merely a piece of it. So no I don't think you have a point because you're speaking in broad terms while ignoring the events of the comic. They're clearly showing how this death is important, it's definitely not the reversal of it, but how it will influence the politics within the council.
>>116882217>>116882275>Curls are backHell Yeah
>>116882580
>>116882860We already know the mutants are immortal, the first storyline in the "reboot/revamp/whatever/ had all the mutants die in space as a cliffhanger. Then the next issue established the new rule: death holds no sway in X-titles. Great, got it! Now let's see where this leads! Now Marauders tries the same trick and I'm left thinking "didn't we just do this?"Also, if the storyline was supposed to be about Shaw manipulating the chess pieces whilst Kitty is dead then wouldn't it be all the more suspenseful to keep her off the table longer?>>116882889Exactly! I'm totally on board for the new status quo of the X-Men. You've established the "rules" and the exceptions... then you broke it. We're not even a year into the brave new world and they're already taking shortcuts.I'm trying to like the X-titles but Marauders isn't cutting it for me. If death is off the table take it off the fucking table!
>>116882098Shouldn't have stolen his extra spot on the counsel you dumb bitch.
>>116883073>Also, if the storyline was supposed to be about Shaw manipulating the chess pieces whilst Kitty is dead then wouldn't it be all the more suspenseful to keep her off the table longer? She's been gone for several issues, what the fuck? Did you think her death happened two issues ago or something? She's been gone for half of this run so far.
>>116882379Maybe she can now? Maybe its some phasing bullshit? She had a mental issue to contend with that was making her unconsciously phase just barely out? Making the gate panic and reject her?
>>116882205Non capefag here. This is the woman who they had a funeral for? Am I reading this wrong?
>>116883073>Also, if the storyline was supposed to be about Shaw manipulating the chess pieces whilst Kitty is dead then wouldn't it be all the more suspenseful to keep her off the table longer?True, we should see Shaw actually do something that wouldn't have happened if Kitty was around. Maybe convincing the Council of something that Kitty would have vetoed?>then you broke itExactly! When I see people get mad at other people for obsessing over canon and rules and lore, it's because those things create tension and stakes and interest. Rules are what make games interesting because they force strategy.Rules are what make stories interesting because they create a sense of uncertainty and danger when our protagonists are subject to the actions of others or have their own actions restrained.I agree, this was a pretty hackneyed approach to creating tension. I think my favorite moment in Excalibur was when Apocalypse willingly let himself die to super-power Rogue and build his Otherworld gate, and the VERY first thing in the next issue is his resurrection. If you can casually resurrect Apocalypse, that means death is like a bad hangover at worst
>>116883201Yes, go read the hox pox stuff for context tl;dr mutants are growing clone bodies en masse and using telepaths to upload memories to the bodies and Kate was dead for a month with all the clones failing because as it turned out the clone body was using her powers unconsciously until it starved to death each time.
>>116882304They cleared that all out in Astonishing and then when she joined Cyclop's revolution, to finally when she got recruited for this
>>116883141Didn't she die in issue 6? Now this is issue 11, so it's not "2 issues ago" but she wasn't even gone a year. There are miniseries that have lasted longer. It's fine if you like it, I'm not judging. Marauders just isn't for me I guess.
>>116882055nice boots
>>116881989rip Kitty/Kate/Katherine >>116882205oh wait
>>116882804They’re bisexual , all sexy girls are after all
>>116882205>just get the fuck out of the pod you stupid mutieIt was that easy
>>116881989So not counting the dead x-men team there is Charles, Rogue, and now Kitty. How many more issues will be wasted on these pointless deaths? I thought the point of this ressurection shit was to eradicate stuff like this
>>116881989But why did they put Kitty in a big watermelon?
>>116884968Quire dies in like every issue of X-Force
>>116885131Death in X-Force is treated as insignificant, a setback, or even as a joke like with Quentin. Death is toothless in all X-titles and the clever writers treat is as such, while the hacks keep trying to trot it out as a dramatic tool.
>>116884968Rogue wasn't dead, she was coma'd.
>>116881989Storm looks ugly .
>>116882017Huh, haven't been following this book, Kitty couldn't enter Kraktoa portals and now can't be rezzed? Is it just me or is it clearly setting up that Kitty ain't Kitty?
>>116882379You are looking at it from the wrong side. She couldn't phase out for the same reason she can't go the gates. Because something about her interferes with Krakoa.
>>116882007>>116882035>>116882046>>116882055>>116882071for real, why spend so many pages on this fake drama? we all know she's gonna come back in no time
>>116885830because previous issues had established that she couldn't be brought back for unknown reasons
>>116882275>NEXT>REBIRTH
>>116885971but she will be back. Death should be a twist that no one uses anymore
>>116881989They should have just brought her to Otherworld so Jamie could bring her back, or really Proteus should be able to since he's a reality warper.
>>116887442Hah, is that why the Immortal Hulk is now the darling of Holla Forums since 2019?!
>>116882035Dayum, Colossus is still so bitter about the whole "Kitty leaving him at the altar" thing that he won't even attend her funeral.
>>116888299Or just have Elixir do it and sacrifice someone they hate, the entire revival egg thing is just a workaround so he doesn't have to do his equivalent exchange stuff and murder someone for every person he revives.
>>116882046>>116882055Why did Magik give Pyro her flame? Pyro has a flamethrower backpack, he doesn't need it.Also, Pyro and Kate barely interacted this entire run, so it kind of feels unearned for him to do this viking funeral for her.
>>116889591I don't think he's gotten any fuel yet, also she's still technically the leader of a team he got put into so he's probably obligated.
>>116882580That is a problem with every Xmen book in this run.
>>116890112really only Xavier and Kitty's deaths have been treated seriously
>>116882146That's not how the seats are arranged on the DC Metro.
>>116883313Thats...stupid.
>>116882055I'm not sure I understand this page
>>116891282I guess they blame Emma for setting Kate on this sort of job which put her in vulnerable position for this to happen.
>>116882304It makes sense and they've been low key buddies during this run.
>>116885830The writer is a hack obsessed with making a scifi setting and sheathing it in the Xmen's skin and the editor is to busy sucking cock and grooming his mustache. The core issue with all this is that there is no actual interest in a story, just a setting and making deadlines.
>>116885830But they always do thatThat was also true before Krakoa, when Nightcrawler or Wolverine died
>>116882524I guess, everything else in this book ended up being nothing.>>116882580Hickman clearly did the ressurection thing as a way to try and force conflicts and stakes that aren't "An X-Man dies!" back into books that have used shocker deaths as life support for over a decade at this point. The experiment also clearly failed, as the first fucking thing these books did with the bold new 'we've evolved past death' status quo is try to shockingly kill someone.
I have to laugh at how there was nothing wrong with husk process after all, and they just kept on killing the Kittys by accident. >>116882417>This absolutely is foreshadowing. No other reason to take interest in that otherwise. Its just Kurt realizing that Emma has been pushing Charles to rez Kitty in secret. So he's surprised that the number of attempts was more than he was aware of. Aka, Kurt caught a glimpse past Emma's bitch-queen facade.
>>116892630the only books that have done "shock" deaths are X-Force and Marauders, and both did them as a means to cast the system itself into doubt rather than actually expecting you to be shocked by the death.
>>116882055The Jews bitching about this are funny.
>>116882228>Kurt isn’t having a pro-life issue with thisIt’s probably because she’s jewish
>>116882217naked Kate is sexy
>>116882235hmm, all this lesbian subtext with Emma now. Is it going to be a foursome with Emma, Kitty, Rachel and Magik?
>>116894912Emma spends time grooming Kitty and getting her ready and at the final moment she opens the bedroom door and there's Scott waiting.
>>116882417>>116882524>>116882352not a foreshadowing thing. kurt is huge into religion. 18 is the jewish number for life. its a very special number to them and on your birthday will normally be given 18$
So since everybody has basiclaly died now and been reborn like pod people, is there going to be some big reveal down the line that theres a flaw with the pod people bodies, or that the pod people clones can be easily mind controlled or some shit?
>>116894956If they cared this much about religion then this wouldn't have happened >>116894373, and there's plenty of this bitching to the point of calling it "the worst series ever". If it is about religion then they dropped the ball real hard. >>116895024The first thing probably (explored in X-Factor), the second is highly unlikely.
>>116894941the comic seems to go a slightly different way with Rachel and Magik seeming to prep her for Emma and Scott before you ask for sauce it's Saneperson
>>116895024X-Factor is entirely a book about troubleshooting the problems with the resurrection process.
>>116882055Why the fuck are they cosplaying as if they're real pirates and now vikings?Like i see so many jews in there, a Christian, russian person and an average american guy.Why would they just not bury her like most people? Or cremate her in a traditional sense instead of acting like this culture they have crested wasn't literally created a year ago with clear indications of borrowing from many human people, that bullshit that superheroe customes are mutant clothing is so stupid god I just hate this.
>>116894912They'll never make Kitty a lesbian because she's the ultimate waifu and she can only be interested in men.
>>116895079I think Duggan read something about Gematria and think "i could score some points with the jews. what a great goyim i am!!!"; just to forget the fact that Jews abhorrent the cremation.
>>116895024Thanks to Slott's Clone Conspiracy the new rule is that when a person dies their soul goes to space and then comes back to them when they're resurrected. The problem is that constant resurrections warp the soul and the person. It's already been used in Scarlet Spider and Spencer's ASM but I doubt Hickman is going to pay attention to that.
>>116895082Does Scott get to fuck both Magik and Kitty?
>>116896042MarLel 2020 = physical cloning = resurrection EXCEPT if the original is still alive , which explains why Sinister preferred to clone just 1 batch of Marauders at a time , to keep their original souls intact , because a rapidly-aged adult clone can (But not always) become mindlessly insane (ex. Sabretooth) or in the case the cloning process used was that of the Jackal (Instead of, say, Mr. Sinister) , they can suffer cellular degeneration (now solved due to special drugs , see the resurrected OG Tarantula , the Lizard’s resurrected wife & their kid, Ned Leeds, etcetera)
>>116896629I don't like how you typed any of that.
>>116896539Nah, is mostly bondage and some lesbian licks here and there. Check it as “X-men Night Games”
>>116895082Considering that Emma Frost is really into this kind of stuff. This is pretty much canon enough.I really miss ScottXEmma.
>>116896646Blame MarLel , they’re the ones writing the continuity
