Adventure literally is the game that finally told the western localization to fuck itself and left people who were attached to that shit bitching until the present day. The only thing that got kept from it was making Robotnik Eggman's real name and making Eggman his nickname, although the name Robotnik still hasn't even been mentioned since like Shadow the Hedgehog (or maybe '06), and even then, only when referring to his family, because he's been referred to exclusively as Eggman in western media since like Sonic Adventure 2, and the majority of Sonic Adventure.

Chili dogs are then briefly mentioned in a couple "Modern Sonic" games (separate from Adventure to '06 Sonic), but only because after '06 bombed they stopped trying to have a story at all and finally listened to the "fans" who didn't like the series but had vague memories that chili dogs were a thing in the cartoons.

Also, Sonic 2's story briefly mentions how Chaos destroyed the whole Echidna civilization when they abused the power of the emeralds. Sonic was always supposed to have some serious elements, but not be 100% dark. The western ((localizers)) couldn't do a balance and instead made a terribly animated looney tunes ripoff and a completely unrelated edgy star wars knockoff that happened to have Sonic and Tails thrown in as sidekicks.

Naw, Mobius isn't even canon to the comics anymore, and most of the supporting characters have been phased out or erased. Only the characters from the cartoons are left, and I think the comic people are finally getting the hint that they'll never get into the games. Their time is probably running out in the comics, even, at least as main characters.
