strong moves, but draco, thunder and blizzard have a pretty good chance of missing. Not sure about sludge wave, but that's good coverage for faeries.

As for the EV build, I feel like trying to take on both styles of defense is gonna hinder you. Perhaps take the Def out and put the rest into HP. If you see a physical attacker incoming switch out.

Fairy should have a weakness against Normal.

Or better yet, BE REMOVED.

It's troublingly unspecialized. Is that defensive spread designed around being bulky enough to handle specific threats? For that matter, if you're all-out attacking, why are you not max SAtk? What's its nature?

It already has high sp attack and has quirky nature. I guess my logic is that since it naturally has high sp attack 110 to be precise I don't need to max out because it'll still either 1 shot or 2 shot any opponent, I'm most worried all ice and fairy moves are sp attack related, I need a little defense just in general because goodra naturally has low defense, and yeah the hp for those pesky niggers who use toxic and what not

110 SpA is nowhere near high enough to hit hard unboosted and uninvested, you need to max it out. i'm not sure what opponents you're ohkoing with low-ev unboosted special attacking goodra, but they're not relevant ones.
goodra's defense is low, so don't send it in against physical attackers. you don't have space for defense EV's anyway; they're better used in HP. investing partway in def and sdef with so little HP investment will make it really bad for defending. if you want general bulk, HP is better than def or sdef 99% of the time.
investing in HP does not make toxic do any less damage; it deals a percentage of your max health.

I use adrenaline orbs and I kill the thing it calls ins, I had to go through 3 pokemon doing it because they ended up killing themselves from running out of moves. It was total bullshit even though it was supposed to have a 10% drop chance

Wrong. That's how you get shinies/hidden abilities. Get a butterfree with compoundeyes and put it in your lead slot and an exeggutor or trevenant with frisk and thief as the second. Get the butterfree koed so compoundeyes still takes effect but it's not sent out. Don't bother with chaining, just run if the wild pokemon doesn't have the item you want.

That would have been a better story than interdimensional monsters that still somehow get caught in special Pokeballs. Lusamine's character seemed to be capable of such a story, so enamored by beauty that she would turn herself into a monster in order to preserve herself in some manor, then somehow the process affected a few other humans and turned them into the Ultrabeasts. Or they could have been the Ultrabeasts all along and they were just stringing the player along for some goal like reviving the title legendaries, only for it to backfire on them. Lillie would have been perfect for that role. Always near the player, even bringing up the legendary in the library to set the stage. Constantly downplaying herself and avoiding pokemon battles. The story played out like they had some grand plan and then someone higher up just went, "no."

My brother and I are experts in identifying kibble from years of being Transformers fans. So in Pokemon Dark Side of the Moon, he'll either transform into a dinosaur, or a dinosaur head for a giant like the Tapus. We won't be getting a third version, especially not on the Switch. I wouldn't be surprised if we got an Orre-style side game on the Switch before Gen 8 properly started, but even that's iffy.

I've been enjoying it so far, despite how casual it is. SOS battles are challenging, but can quickly become bullshit if not careful. And good luck getting HA and nature without breeding. EV sorting is a nightmare, and anything you've raised in-game is unusable without special shops in Festival Plaza. You could max EVs in 30 mins in XY/ORAS, now you need to play shitty minigames for ages to get the coins needed to buy EV eliminating drinks/food. Some Pokemon's level-up movesets are just confusing. Shadow Bone the level before Marowak evolves must be an error, surely??
Looking forward to competitive more this time, so lack of post-game; while criminal; isn't as concerning.

Growing them is not even an issue, you get like a billion plots

The growth rate on the berries is the same as it was in XY. Just throw in the beans and you bring it down to 24 hours. You get like 14 berries a pop, so it's not like you'll be strapped for them.

You can max them just as fast in SuMo if you have the right items. SOS chaining doubles EVs gained. So if you have Pokerus and SOS chain, you get 4 EVs from a poke that only grants 1 EV a kill already. Couple that with power items, which in this generation grant 8 EVs, and you get 36 EVs a kill while SOS chaining with Pokerus.

To break that down. 8 EVs with the power item, plus the 1 you get from defeating the pokemon, doubled by Pokerus, then doubled again because of SOS chaining. That's how 36 comes out.

To be fair, finding those berries is random chance every day, it took me a while to find one of them.

It's also worth mentioning at that 36 evs per KO, it takes 7 to get to exactly 252.

How has the "meta" changed with the new pokemon and mechanics? Battlespot doubles, that is.

Not too hard. I got them pretty easily. I think you can find all of them on that route where you get all the fearows and skarmorys flying at you from the trees right before the observatory mountain. Then there's one you can get from the supermarket place next to the free-for-all battle dome building.

All I know is that you got to watch out for the Z-moves. They threw on a bunch of extra effects to a lot of moves. For example, Z-Destiny Bond combines Destiny Bond with the same effect of Follow Me, so the opposing pokemon will all target the user for that turn and take the pokemon with the finishing move down with it.

The current story would be a really dark game if it took place in a world without pokemon. That was the disconnect for me, if pokemon aren't the main focus then it really didn't matter what the story was in a pokemon game.

I don't play competitive, but I've seen a few changes.
The Tapus give instant terrain effects when switched in, meaning that terrain is much more common now. Expect to see loads of people with Tapu Lele leads, because Psychic terrain blocks priority moves. Same with Tapu Fini and spikes/stealth rock.
The Ultra Beasts haven't got much in the way of BST, but their stats are very efficiently spread. Celesteela is like a second Skarmory, with a load of viable sets and the hardest hitting Heavy Slam in the game. Pheromosa is broken in the right situations, and is only properly shut down by priority moves. Kartana has the third highest physical attack in the franchise. You still need to think up a use for them, but they're very competitively viable. Also all their base stats are prime numbers, which is neat

Gen 6 strats should still be viable. I've heard people talk about how Aegislash can wall Pheromosa well enough, so when Pokebank rolls in we should see the meta stabilize better.

There is so many bullshit things in Sun/Moon but the way the set up how to get certain items is easily the worst. No wonder there are so many people giving out shiny and legendary pokemon for any random Weavile on GTS.

It is a pain in the ass, for sure. GF knew what they were doing and that was pure bullshit, along with weather SOS pokemon. You have to grind a Butterfree up to a level where its faster than at least wild midnight Lycanroc to double that 5% chance. At least with Metal Coat, the wild Magnemite are on the first island.

I prefer that over Pickup, though. I still have my Prism Scale just in case I want to breed a good Feebas just because I don't want to go through Pickup grinding.

How hard is it to have a gen where the mons follow you, the new pokemon don't suck ass, there's diving, there's a day/night cycle, there are bases, there's that underground where you dig for gems and set traps, there's portable and stationary plant growing, there's multiple different methods of different poketreat creation I want the stirring game and the timed wheel game back, the gyms are a challenge like a gym should be, there's actually good postgame content, the trading feature has decent filter options, amie is in there, the story is a somewhat challenge where people aren't healing you/cheering you on/giving you easy pass items/handholding/cutsceneing all the time, and your rival is actually fun to battle
Why have bits and pieces of this but never the whole? If they combined the best of all of their past games, it would be fuckin sick, but no, lets just make a gen blander than the last one

People found low-res models of loads of different pokemon in the code, as well as walking animations. The main theory is that they were planning following pokemon but cut them late in development, or they're planning it for a Switch version of Sun/Moon.
Personally I'm mostly annoyed at the removal of the Player Search System. That thing was incredibly convenient, and the Plaza is horrible in comparison.

I think they aren't adding every feature at once because then the game after that will have to be as feature-packed, or it'll be shit by comparison. They're trying to do the thing the Monster Hunter devs do and rotate out features, but a lot of the features they bring in end up being worse than the originals. A decent postgame should be there regardless of how many features they swap out.
