Why would I buy a DRM machine that is basically just a computer that can only be used to play a narrow library of games? I might as well use that same money to buy a real computer.

Other than OP's obvious data mining thread the reason no one has bought it is because it doesn't have any games yet, emphasis on yet. It's always better to purchase a console later in it's life cycle for the cheaper price and the wider game availability espscially on consoles which stranglehold IPs as hostages.

I would also say you should remove KH3, and Nier Automata from that pic as they are not PS4 exclusives and don't hold much weight in convincing people to get a PS4.

The reason only idiots buy at launch is exactly what my post was talking about, without IP hostages in this day in age there is no reason to get a console over a computer. IP hostages include games that can only work on Nintendo devices (at least for a little bit) because of gimmicks with the controls. There is not a doubt in my mind that the Wii (not the WiiU) sold incredibly well because there was at least one great reason to get the Wii from day one, Zelda:Twilight Princess. The WiiU as far as exclusive launch titles went was New Super Mario Bros which while faggots may like that they don't flock to Mario like they do to Zelda and it reflected in early sales. The PS4 had literally nothing exclusive worth buying on Day one and suffered for it.

Literally the only thing keeping consoles alive at this point is IP hostages and that's it. Maybe Nintendo does a bit of innovating but it really isn't anything dangerous or incredible.

As far as Handhelds go you currently have PS Vita, which faces that same problem that the PS4 doesn't which is barely any games, and the 3DS, which survives because of many lucrative exclusives.

Because there were no good exclusives, with no good exclusives, no one bought it, with no one buying it, there was little incentive, with little incentive no one developed exclusive IPs using it's technology. For god's sake the Japanese market was creating exlcusives for the PSP three years into the PS Vitas life cycle. The PS4 is going through the literal exact same process of no one wants to buy a PS4 because it had no games, and it took two years to have anything, it's recovering faster than the Vita. You'll have a reason to get a PS4 when it actually has god damn games not beforehand. And even then, nowadays more and more IPs aren't exclusives. Look at Nier Automata in op's pic, it's for the PC as well if a bit delayed, there's no reason to get a PS4 if I want to play that game.

no patches for many games to make them work better on their shiny new box, the PS4 Pro. so its more like a paperweight than anything useful.

Not enough exclusives and the ones it does have you have to worry about the localization teams fucking the games up. At the moment I only have a handful of games I really want and there aren't many games out there for the console, especially when compared to the impressive library the PS3/PS2 has.

Sony is also more focused on delivering "interactive experiences" than games any more.

Basically, I don't want to pay 500 dollars for a machine that has 3 games I want that may have bad localizations while the rest are just liberal propoganda dressed up as vidya.

frankly I've been very dissatisfied with PC gaming for some time now. To me the platform has failed to appeal to me since 2010, and the direction it is going, an increase in very late ports, worse DRM, an abundance of unfinished games that developers just get away with, and growth in gambling, free to play, and other cancerous qualities in otherwise staple games and genres has made it lose its appeal. I don't want a multiplatform first person shooter box for RTS games I don't play, grand strategy games I don't care about, and old stalker mods which have lost their appeal long ago. I want a PC for high end PC games. Not console games + a half assed video options menu. These games are not appealing.

yeah, it's not a standard as much as I'd like it to be too. Been a fan of 60fps since I played Daytona USA when it first hit arcades. Usually the games where it matters most do target it, and the ps4pro can do it, the developers just target higher end visuals these days.

Not enough friends played it and they ended up charging for online which was their only plus. All my friends bought xbones and the one friend who did have a ps4 only played ffxiv and I already played that on the PC. Well yeah, I think these days a lot of people will be playing new old games they've yet to experience. The PS4 obviously isn't experiencing a constant stream of releases, what platform actually is? I've found comfortably that the PS4 has been the only platform with good releases as of late. I spend my down time mostly with the sega saturn or classic xbox. The PS4 gets its use when a new game comes around for it, and it's happening pretty frequently lately. Next game I'll be playing on it is gravity rush 2, and the demo was fucking excellent. And shortly after that Yakuza, and then Nier. I kinda have lost track a bit of the upcoming releases, but I'm pretty sure there's like 6 major titles from now to March.

I usually get games as they come out and play them as they come out. PC versions are sometimes better, but the real world results are pretty inconsistent.

DaS3 was alright, better than most other games, especially on PC.

just get a TV that artificially inflates it. if youre not playing on a CRT the input delay is going to fuck with you more than the difference between 30 and 60 fps so its more about aesthetics with most modern games, and any good TV can create frames and make it smooth.

those 240hz displays actually have some pretty bad input lag. PC monitors much more often target lower refresh rates, TVs are usually at minimum 16ms, they aren't the best for input lag - but if you really care that much you'd be using a CRT like you said. Part of the reason why I have this big thing parked next to me right now.

The PS2 had so many games, I go back and play those that I never had an opportunity to play.

You are mistaking upgrading for and upgrading out of necessity. Playing nudoom is an opportunity for me to form my own opinion on it. You don't just repeat what others tell you, right? I mean that would be a little sad to be so perpetually uninformed. Me improving/replacing my PC opens the gates just a bit wider to new things, but I would never do it for a mediocre multiplat game. You do realize that most good monitors have around 1ms input lag. TV's with aggressive postprocessing can have anywhere from 50 to 100ms. at 60fps the delay between frames is 16.666ms. at 30fps it doubles and add TV input lag + wireless controller lag to it and you have a mess on your hands.

Even turning on Vsync on PC is so fucking horrible in most titles. The mouse just lags behind what you see on screen.

As for what games its not acceptable, any fast paced FPS games and fighting games for example. some platformers too

when the saws come for you, if you spam L2 and any direction, you will take no damage. i can pass completely through the saw when this happens. its even rested on top of me while i remained invincible.

the challenge comes when you want to attack and not get hit. they dont let you cancel your animations atleast. but in bosses you can spam dodge while waiting for an opening.

You implied frame interpolation was a worthwhile prospect despite giving even worse input delay than playing a game on a normal LCD, shit frame rate included. Even with a shit framerate, the delay from a normal LCD would be nowhere near as bad as it would with a TV that attempts to create frames. Not to mention a lower framerate would inherently make frame creation even worse given the lower amount of frames to pool data from. An inconsistent framerate would further fuck this creation process up. At that point it would be far better just to take a shit framerate as is with the delay from the TV versus some TV attempting to interpret it all to make it's own frames while adding even more of a delay to it.

I think dark souls 3 is alright, but going back after bloodborne there's a huge disparity in quality, design, and just polish overall. Like from the very first proper stage, overlooking the castle wall and seeing a horrendous LOD model right in my face - bloodborne had its flaws here and there, but by and large it blew the fuck out of dark souls 3, a game a year newer, away. That's just the visuals, the actual game play is just so much better in bloodborne, the bosses are fantastic, the improvements in mechanics are brilliant.

it was largely a lot of the same people. Maybe about 70% of the same key staff as DeS and DaS, but some of the key members were working on bloodborne. Different teams, same studio. DaS2 was incredibly flawed, DaS3 was decent, but it still mostly felt like a worse dark souls/bloodborne.

Yep, northern limit was cut and was clearly unfinished, but what is there is undeniably content complete. Can't say the same about Izalith, demon ruins, repeat bosses.

the painted world was the first finished level in dark souls, they just couldn't tie it anywhere cohesively in the game world. It's also probably the best designed area in the game, but it had nothing to do with demon's souls development, it was developed after DeS shipped.

No one is denying DeS is flawed, but it's definitely a more complete game which never really hits the lows of dark souls. Would have loved to see the tomb of giants better expanded, a proper lost izalith that wasn't fucking dragon asses and floating ruins where you can peer directly into the void if you position your camera facing downwards, it's a real shame the game shipped in that state. Better boss fights for the last half of the game too.

Repeat bosses is a complaint of someone who is not even familiar with the RPG genre.

Having early game bosses come back as late game enemies has been going on since early FF.
It's to give the player a feeling of becoming more powerful something sorely lacking in modern RPG's as the enemies scale with you.
It was a smallish area compared to others but the people who complain about it, never seem to be able to explain what is wrong with it.

I'm also not much of a fan of Windows 10 and the artificial attempts at retiring 7. Scraping auto-updates out of the registry that I later found would've bricked my motherboard shouldn't need to be on my agenda, and it isn't with Mint Linux or Debian. Until a free operating system gets a good majority of contemporary PC games (NieR Automata, for example, has no Linux port on the way), I don't see enough of an advantage, and putting up with Microsoft's bullshit isn't worth it.

you cannot stun lock bosses easily. it requires precise timing.
the health you recover is small and varies between weapons. it gives a risk/reward so youre penalized for rolling away from the fight like in DaS.
the armor is horizontal progression so you dont have to wait to get a playable build. the game just gets harder to compensate.
the stats towards stamina, health, strength, agility, and blood are all important depending on your build. you upgrade weapons using items that arent given out until certain points in the game so weapon progression is capped with game progression
each weapon (well, almost all of them) has a 2 handed mode that you transform between.
beast claw builds have always been viable.
the game isnt repetative at all, but the randomly generated ones are, but theyre like a bonus for people that want to keep playing. the game is just as large if not larger than dark souls without the infinite dungeons which introduce new enemies and bosses.

i've played both extensively so i have some grounds to give an opinion. have you?

Next time you see it is in the first stage of one of the later areas and it works in a punctual sense. Everything you've gotten through up to that point has made that first boss that may have destroyed you on the spot is now just a slightly special grunt. Worked really well there.

Again more boring linear progression, in DaS you could get the key as a gift go to the Catacombs get fire enchantment for your weapons, or go to lagcity to get better weapons for the start.
Its harder because you're lower level but the rewards are greater something that makes the game BETTER for it.

you cant roll forever. faster being fun is a personal preference, but speed builds in das are more fun, so it shouldnt be shocking. shooting the boss with perfect timing and being able to bait attacks requires practice and patience, any game gets predictable and easy if you play it enough.
horizontal means later on armor is just as good as early armor, its just for fashion.
it doesnt allow you to over power your armor and tank through the game.
the accessories you equip to your weapon replace it. the weapons are limited with how you upgrade them, they just do more damage, but the weapons themself have a huge range of uses and types of attacks thats missing in DaS

bloodborne is better because theres much more variety in gameplay. different enemies require much different strategies, where in DaS the only way the combat changed was if your build changed.

darksouls had variety but relied on your build. bloodbornes variety stems from the types of enemies and their variety of attacks, and the variety with each weapon.

yes, im ok with that since the game was so fulfilling, challenging and fun. it didnt have as much replayability as DaS, but replayability isnt everything. especially when the enemies and bosses offer so much variety in combat.

the weapon transformations, and transformation attacks, and the continuity of each type of swing (for example the heavy swing in light light heavy combo is very different from light heavy combo) light transform, heavy, light transform light, all have different attack paths and damage.

its not just range and power, direction changes, and depending ont he weapon, sometimes the combos change. the steak driver can either be a rapidly stabbing weapon with a crazy powerful punch attack, or essentially a sword. add in the detailed combo animations and you get a very different attack method.

the hammer sword lets you interrupt stabbing combos with different types of stabs, and lets you shithe it for an overhead swing with/without hammer allowing you to fake out people in PVP or make last second changes to the combo.

im not arguing that DaS is a bad game, i played it religiously for a long time. the build variety is fun to play around with, but bloodborne distilled the parts about DaS i loved, vastly improved it, and put it in a single game.

BB is a different game from dark souls. its one that features more linear progression and distilled the best parts of dark souls and put them into a game. its not supposed to be a sequel, so nothing was "stripped out".

I don't have anything against them, but I strongly prefer new things over any remakes. The Ratchet remake was decent but it definitely wasn't as good as the original game, which wasn't exactly a killer title in the first place. Insomniac would be better off getting new IPs developed, and Sony is absolutely in a position to get that ball rolling but they had other plans with a movie that wasn't particularly successful and a budget game that was decent at best.

Official keyboard/mouse support and dropping paid online would be a great start. That way if I had a PS4 I could play normalfag games with my normalfag friends without paying a monthly fee and using a controller for FPS games.
As for the rest of it I'd have to see some games that make me want to buy it. It looks OK, but OK isn't worth the cost of the console.

I have nothing against Sony or consoles in general. I have a Vita, and they didn't push that much, but at least it got good games and was cheap. The Vita has an amazing clicky dpad too, so I can't complain about controls. Only issue is that it's fucking stupid to hold because of the rear touchpad, and I fixed that with a grip thingy.

DaS has a wide build variety. the game relies on you to add variety by changing your build.
BB has alot of game variety because of the improved combat, enemies, and weapons.

notice how the smallest change effects the direction/power/range of the swing. enemies also have similar ranges of attacks. this changes the dynamic of the fights and gives you much more robust combat. the reason for the limited amount of weapons was the difficulty and attention to detail in each one.

One of the better aspects of DaS AND DeS was the freedom to go to areas when you want.
You could go to an area, or choose to go to another, you could get a key at the start of the game and go to even more areas.

They even made this part of the game, to become a darkwraith you have to go fight the 4 kings before setting down the Lord Vessel making the game even more difficult without the teleporting meaning going through the ghost boogalo unless you find a firepit.

Dark souls variety comes from the builds and the builds alone. BB comes from the amount of options you have when engaging an enemy, and the variety of enemies that force you to engage them differently.

Bloodborne is largely more polished, has more satisfying combat and created a smarter back stab system, it takes a different approach to its design and benefits in many ways at the sacrifice of some of the other traits dark souls had. In a sense, sacrificing the open design gave the game more focus, a better sense of progression - one of the common complaints about dark souls is new players getting lost and dropping the game because they kept going through the graveyard/catacombs despite what the games design signals to the player that the intended path of progression is up the stairs. Every game From soft made following dark souls attempted to remedy issues like that.

the pro has had mixed results because of some sloppy dev support. I imagine in the future it'll be cleaned up but you can get the base console for pretty cheap. Most games run at the same framerate on both variations of the hardware. If I didn't have one already, I'd probably just scope out one for $200 or so.

I got one for for Christmas. My parents were insisting on getting me something expensive this year. I tried to talk them out of spending so much money on me, but since they wouldn't stop I decided to let them get me a PS4.

Honestly, the only thing I'm really looking forward to is Ys 8, mainly because I got hooked on the series from the games on Steam. I've played Uncharted 4 and a bunch of free demos, but almost all of them have noticeable framerate problems. Aside from that, I'm just not interested in any of the games. So far I've spent more time playing the Dragon Quest Builders demo than anything, which hardly shows off the power of the PS4. Plus, it's essentially just Minecraft.

Because it cost extra for barely any performance increase (decrease, in some cases) - and was only being sold on "not really"-4k and slightly less vomit inducing VR. Neither of which I give much of a fuck about. I've got a PC for performance and multiplats. I just wanted some weebshit games that are still hardware DRM locked, so the slim model works just fine for that.

Full native from-disk PS1/PS2/PS3 backwards compatibility. Full ISO/Eboot compatibility would be nice too, but there's no way the Jew is going to cut off his own nose like that. Still, let it play PSP and Vita games as download titles, so that when it gets cracked - you can run those from an SDcard HDD natively.
