It's actually pretty cheap for animation and, as long as they don't outsource it to chon, it's a reasonable price to pay. Something like this would cost 10x as much to produce in 'murica. The only animator here that I can think of that works on budgets like that is Bill Plympton. 500k for something near feature length is a bargain. Of course, if this was an ongoing 1 or 2 cour series I might feel differently.
