After reading the doc, I have a couple of questions to ask:
Would you (commander) befriend the monstergirls yourself or have the other soldiers befriend them as (together or individually?)
What about soldier preferences? Let's say that a soldier has a preference to slimegirls, that could make it easier for the soldier to capture the slimegirl, but would be harder against other monster types, that or takes more damage from that same type.
Sprites for the various monster girls is mostly what I need help with. More details in the autism doc again.

It's not possible to add pesonal preferences to individual soldiers in this engine.

Only one set of anims per MG/transformation. Wont go into autistic detail of every weapon/magic combo having unique sprites for transformations.

Xenonauts 2 is being released next year OP, why not release the total conversion for that game instead, it will get more attention, and its also now using the Unity 3D engine and ditching 2D sprites.

They're removing vehicles in Xenonauts 2 so it's probably going to be more limited. If this project dies and Xenonauts 2 gets released and happens to have decent modding feature I could try reviving this.
I don't need programmers (Xenonauts is not open source, but has very good modding capabilities and I can "script" together the .xml files). Top priority is sprite artists.
Nothing advanced like bravery checks, that would require coding of new systems and Xenonauts is not open source. The lairs are just "storage dumps" for captives before they bring them back to the demon realm. You find out later what they plan to do.

user, even with such simplicity provided by engines like RPG Maker, it still takes a long time and dedication to make a game. And you need to actually make good art assets if you're going the porn route instead of just the minimum requirement of not reusing stale assets.
Also yes you do have to be a programmer to make a game because that's basically what you're doing, even with an engine where you don't have to write code for everything yourself when you still have to tell the program what to do, when to do it, and how to do it and making the AI handle various fictions.
So i gave it a once over, i strongly recommend that you do not put in most of the sex in the tactical part of the game. This is primarily because porn games have this balancing act where too much lewd gets in the way of the game and too much game gets in the way of the lewd. Of course this means you're going to need Viper tier of quality and not just a bunch of still CG pictures, or instead a fuck ton of CG and pictures with full writing.

I was thinking of writing design docs for my stuff, but I was always afraid that being it was all ideas it'd lack any use. Should I build that (now numbers but rough goals, "low" "high"), and then update it later on with actual numbers and mechanics (Units with a speed greater than X get to act twice in one round, Goblins have 20 HP so 3 attacks by a level 1 player should kill it, etc)
I'd say this or even XCom 2, but you'd have to heavily mod it to make it not shit according to Holla Forums, and if you wanted lewd you'd have put the mod outside of Steam Workshop. But, I wish OP every success.

If a prototype happens it won't be until next year and I will probably revamp the whole befriending and sex magic system somewhat. I will probably tone down the lewd and focus more on gameplay and let the player go for technological DAKKA route or magical weeb route. 74 pages of design doc before building a thing is never a great sign. Of course, in this case the page count is inflated by an enormous font and listing a monster per page when it comes to that point.
In general your initial, pre-development design doc should describe the fundamental, immutable concepts that make your game what it is. It shouldn't get bogged down in mechanical details, except insofar as they are absolutely essential to the central theme. It's not a bad idea to outline a general approach for each area of development (art, gameplay mechanics, sound, music, etc.), but don't force it - if you know you aren't a musicfag, for example, just leave it for whoever becomes the musicfag for your project.
It's important that this intial doc be unchangeable, or very very close to it, because it will serve as a reference point for how to build or whether to keep every feature that extends from it. It also becomes the introduction to your project for anyone else that you may bring in to work on it. So ask yourself, is "Goblins have 20 HP" a core component of the game that the team needs to know about going in?
Now, you should definitely maintain more detailed documents for systems as you build them, ideally these are more implementation oriented, and more of a scratchpad in early development, and more solidified once things are working.
Also, I'm surprised this got another thread OP, I filed this in my "Holla Forums ideas to maybe steal one day if they don't go anywhere." Though I probably would have done something other than /monster/, not really my thing.

I think the best lessons I learned here are to actually have something proper to show off to garner interest before making anything public and to not overthink things. This was mostly done on a whim because I personally think a weebshit version of X-Com would be fun, I wanted to try making a larger mod and I wanted to see how receptive other anons would be to the idea. Monster girls were just picked because why not? I don't actually have much personal interest in that fandom but they fit well design wise for a game/mod like this.
As it stands now, I might test how well it would actually work out in the Xenonauts engine and simplify some of the mechanics, and put out some form of prototype if it turns out well. If that fails, hopefully someone else more skilled than me does an attempt at something similar.
The purpose of a design document and your own personal notebook are slightly but significantly different, the design document is primarily for if you're going to present the game to others and to keep teammates on the ball whereas your personal notes are for when you forgot what you were doing and having a handy checklist on hand in case you missed anything before it's too late.
