DX MD Afterthoughts?

Have to admit, I was impressed overall. HR didn't do a lot for me but this one hit the spot and captured more of the based tone that the original (and even IW) had.

good
they probably overworked it if anything, with so many different options/routes but that's DX for you. Exploration is rewarding because everything is well designed.
Old European architecture mixed with the new. Looked great though the 'daylight' segment went far too long for a cyberpunk/dystopia game
Many complained but it was a smart move. If you're not capable/confident in writing a judgement day/save the world story, better to narrow the focus.

bad
Because it's an imm-sim, it would be stupid to play your character as a murderous combat-specialist sociopath. Sure, the game allows it but it's just awkward. 'Oh hey Adam, I see you just murdered another 20 cops, guess you had no choice' One solution could be to give you better non-lethal weaponry so you can enjoy some firefights. Another would be to have more robot enemies.

By the end of it, I felt like I had been playing a point-and-click adventure game. Nothing is really tense if you do things the right way
Mostly forgettable

indifferent
Adds nothing tbh In fact, the entire conversation system should just go back to the original
Even more pointless this time around. Why the fuck are they keeping it. Games like GTAV/FC4 do the lean/cover/interact/takedown system perfectly well in 1st person
meh, didn't come across as bad as i expected.

It's poorly optimized, unfinished, pandering trash.

I enjoyed it, it was just ripped in half so Squeenix could sell us the 2nd half as DLC or even as a new game. Prague is amazing but does get a bit boring near the end. Wish they capitalized more on the martial law segment, as a hub for you to sneak through was really cool.

Those loading screens were immensely annoying. Sometimes you'd have to go through a loading screen just to get a 30 second conversation then go back through another loading screen.

I enjoyed it overall, but it was clearly rushed and the whole concept of augs being herded into ghettos is dumb. Especially as it was only two years on from HR. Distrust and suspicion sure, not full blown ghettos and segregation. Returning to Jensen was also a bad move, a new character would have been welcomed as it seemed the tradition for Deus Ex was a new character each entry. I would have actually liked a qt aug girl to play as.

Still in the middle of it. Main story's pretty damn forced if you ask me, but the side quests are good stuff. On which note, I get a message telling me I'll lose my sidequests if I take the helicopter a second time. I know MD has a reputation for being cut down the middle but it can't be that short, can it ?

it ends at what feels like the start of the next chapter

It really is best for you to experience it for yourself. It really does feel like a third or halfway through the game when it just stops.

Shit like that seems popular lately, it's like f2p retail cashgrab. Want more? Shekel time!

The game is quite good but not worth the full price AAA 60 bux coz AAA marketing and support of retarded DLC policy.

Dougie X MD

Denuvo faggotry by Eidos aside, it's got some good gameplay mechanics that improved on the last game but everything is lacking, too easy to breeze through and goddamn, they pulled an Invisible War for the story connection from the last game, and there's little consequences on the way you play either as stealth or non-lethal only conversation bits or who dies or who lives which is getting repetitive just like Dishonored 2, all characters just seem so forced, only liked Pritchard and Desperate Man, even though one was in fucking DLC and the other limited time cameo with the same voice actor, which is nice.

Not a great game nor a bad one, just fucking mediocre, doesn't do anything groundbreaking.

Only the highest settings do some really retarded shit meant for supercomputers from the future and has absolutely no improvement in image quality whatsoever.

Just don't max it out, it will look the same and run perfect.

You forgot the fact that it lets you cop-out on replacing augments with new ones with the completion of one side mission. Instead of having to replace your stealth augments to get something like the TITAN or overclock augment, ultimately making you choose a playstyle, now you can just grab an item for a guy and turn yourself into a Bethesda brand Übermensch.

Its pretty shitty that the game is so Jewish with stun gun ammo and tranquilizer ammo but showers you with revolvers, pistols, and other garbage. It makes doing a non-lethal combat run frustrating and not fun. The original Deus Ex atleast gave you the baton and prod which worked well enough given the right build.

This one really bothered me in previous game too. You kill a fucking terrorist and then everyone, including cops judge you, one of them even says he would like to kill you. And because everyone does that, it breaks immersion imo. Makes the game feel like it was built specifically around the player character

One thing I liked in new DX games was Adam Jensen tbh. Handsome guy and I liked the voice acting

Ross had it right in his DX HR game dungeon. The developer seems to be a fan of the series but it would love to be making some other game.

Deus Ex should be a game grounded in reality, were characters should be defined to act like a real human being would, these games have none of that whatsoever, they are fantastic final fantasy / ghost in the shell knock offs with great level design and those fucking french canadian sensibilities

It was alright. That's all I can say about it. The gameplay is still solid. Same for the plot, even though it feels a bit half-assed. Not entirely sold on Prague as a setting. Iit's kinda nice how the older, 20th-century building are juxtaposed with the more modern parts of the city, but I just liked Detroit and Shanhai better.

The two big problems are the underlying coflict between augs and normal humans which seems forced and kinda nonsensical and the fact that they used Jenses as the protagonist. I mean, I really like Jensen, but it feels like his story has been told with HR so there's no real reason for him to be there. They try to connect it to the previous game, but that doesn't really work in my opinion. Also, there's a giant fucking hole between HR and MD which they don't really explain, they just kinda handwave it away.

So, yeah. There's stuff to like and stuff to dislike. I personally enjoyed it for what it was. It had a few cool setpieces, a neat weapon upgrade system (which is something that I always enjoy) and solid gameplay. Not bad, just not as good.

Also do I remember wrong or was Alex Jones in this game? I kinda remember seeing a thread about this here

I'm going to be honest, it's definitely not game of the year material. Albeit, the gameplay and setting was quite intriguing and enjoyable.
Only complaints I really have is that it's poorly optimized with slow as fuck load times, even if you turn the down the settings. Hated the story, coming from someone who has played the first game, Invisible War and Human Revolution. Seriously, I was pretty pissed off with how it ended and contemplating not buying the sequel if it ends up being that unsatisfying again. Never mind the hidden timer for the first mission and the final mission while never introducing any other timer mechanics throughout the game whatosever.

And from experience with other game series having the mechanic of recording your choices in past entries, I doubt it'll actually carry over.
Really didn't enjoy Prague as a setting but Golem City was my great, albeit too short.
Makes it hard to believe that mechanical augmented people have it tough when you're there for maybe two hours before fucking off.

I have to admit he looks badass in the new ones, voice actor is a god, id put him in there with kiefer

Augs kill 9 million people. That is so fucking many people.

*Killed.

Fuck. You're right, the loadtimes. Forgot about them loadtimes. I guess they didn't bother me as much as other flaws I listed.

Story was the only big failing, and I don't mean in its grasp of politics but in how many MORE INTERESTING plot threads it brings up and then just completely ignores. Mechanically the game is great outside from some bad optimisation. Prague is great to dick around in and each level feels well designed. I don't really think I'd agree that it favours stealth, it just provides for it at each turn; going loud is fun and varied in its own right.

Speaking about mechanics, that slo-mo aug combined with fully upgraded full auto pistol (semi-auto is simply not fast enough) is pure madness - stealth into a room with the guy I want to kill, use that aug… Few seconds later guns and 5 bodies fall down, enemies didn't even have time to ready their guns, that really gave me that GitS/cyberpunk feel. Squeenix should've really designed augs so that player would feel the difference in power and ability between full body cyborg and meatbag, not just "show" them in form of flashy kills or arms transformations, that's cheap and only works on kids. Dystopia did it right btw.

Speaking about stealth itself I wish ghost was given for being an actual ghost as in no-knockout no-detection run as if you've never been there, I played this way and really enjoyed it though cloaking trivialized it later on. With amount of exploration and looting it seemed that DE:MD was a better Thief game than thi4f, though still not on par with older Thief games.

Pretty much this for me. I was off-put by the wanna-be Harrison Ford agency boss though; kind of feel like Eidos can do better than that. The rushed ending just wreaks of "another game" though, which kind of puts a fundamental story-telling flaw in the spotlight; being, how many more stories can we cram between the game we just released and the original Deus Ex?

Is this game cracked btw? I've recently being played the first and my friend wants to watch me play all of them now but I'm definitely not paying money for another denuvo game.

Yes, but be warned it is like 77 GB.

There's a repack on 1337x that's 19 GB.

The propaganda is relentless and it has memory leaks. Level design is incredible and a vast improvement over Human Revolution which I wouldn't even call Deus Ex. The XP system is still full fucking retard and ruins the game. Play it if you have nothing better to do and don't mind forging documents for rapefugees with a half bald SJW.

I haven't played it, watched about 4 hours of gameplay.

What was interesting in DX? Nearly everything, because when discounting the few here and there stereotypical characters, so many were grounded to their reality, as well were the environments.

What Eidos Montreal didn't understand is this. They go on tangents because they live in their own little bubble and think a world where every single person you talk to talks about the same shit - augs, augs, augs. Not to mention their weird fascination of making "weird" characters. Nearly every character up to 4 hours of the sequel to HR and HR as a whole is not realistic or grounded in any way, not from the way they act, talk, react to your doings, dress, behave.

There's a reason people are not replaying HR with hearts filled with love and excitement even a few years in after its release, let alone decades in the future I'm sure.

It made sense more or less because of the aug 'incident' where they all turned into murderous zombies. The incident itself was stupid, but the aftermath, in a city with a high concentration of augs, is probably what would happen.

He's a franco version of Clint Eastwood from the dollars trilogy. I think there should of been more 'baddass' dialogue options though. JC had that comedic edge but all of Jensen's lines are overly serious/cautious.

The radio guy is a conspiracy theorist knock-off of alex jones. Does a good job but there aren't enough conspiracies going on in this game.

it was shit
I fucking hate canada

Oh nononono she blows up a turret and a couple cars near the end game to create a "distraction" so you can sneak up to a closed door that you can't open. Thanks Elisa! i wasn't doing stealth anyway!

A FUCKING LEAF

That is NOTHING compared to the 6 million.

How can a game be "rushed" if it took like 5 years to develop?, what the hell happened?

Prague really wore on me after just a little while. I don't enjoy generic euro architecture. An asian hub would have been far more interesting, Hengsha in DXHR was one of the most atmospheric levels I've ever seen in a game.

Voice actor is great. Chill dude, good sense of humor. Autographed one of my spare RAID cards at Pax.

Is that the major?

What was that about?

So there is only one ending?

Yeah.

bad

...

I thought the Praha was just an act 1 and the game's gonna have a couple more of hub areas like its predesessor. Also the story felt like it was missing a couple of levels, but curiously enough the overall story felt like a HR rehash for me.

Well fuck me sideways if it isn't one of the most impressive looking and sounding games of the year. The visuals are so crisp and detailed. The music and voice acting are incredible too.

Game's basically HR: We Fixed Shit Edition. Devs sure added a lot of useless shit like throwable nanoblades and that teslashit, but the old tools work best - stungun and AP ammo revolver were my choice for the whole game. Also game still fades to black before a melee takedown - WTF, you canadian fucks?

Ah yes, the game has this shit miscrotransactions. Which are restricted to a single savefile. Yep, that's the next level of jewing the players off right here.

Worth a pirate i'd say. Just for a single playthrough though. Replayability this time fucking blows.

yes

Yes and no. Long TV-waifu ending monologue changes in some places to reflect your playthrough, Fallout:NV-style.

shes not even real Elizabeth, shes a sterile pozzed illuminati shill machine.

...

Not this shit again.

Some would be scared but I doubt people would treat it like that. You would have a huge amount of pentesters trying to help them with open source augs and custom firmware for the one already there. And in a realistic setup I'm pretty sure the Govt would be behind it and they would do something sneakier like using augs to kill dissidents rather than making them turn into zombies.

The more realistic and reasonable option would be aug control, similar to gun control.

And it has denuvo, pure fucking cancer and doesnt deserve a penny.

RFID + (((Smart augmentation))) for your safety.

Smart augs include :
Gps tracking to protect your loved ones
Remote disabling of your limbs and neuro implants
Running speed ot 4mph max
Lifting capability of 10lbs max

Lurker here, thanks anons for the constructive criticism. My first DX game was HR admittedly, which I rather enjoyed but yeah the characters were pretty shit and the most interesting one, Eliza, is just used as a half asset plot device despite her being a famous propagandist who happens to be the most sophisticated AI in the world. After I played the first game I gotta say that HR doesn't hold much of a candle to it.

I was thinking of getting this game but if it's been completely half assed, and if they're gonna pull a HR where they cut a crucial part of the story out to sell as dlc, then fuck it I'm not playing the game then if the devs wanna be that big of a kike. Not to mention from what I've seen and heard a bunch of the characters are Mass Effect-tier diversity add-ons shoe-horned in just to have their daily nig and mud quota. Not to mention the game apparently completely peeled away from conspiracy and global politics in favor of racism and hate crimes and whatever, pozzed up bullshit. HR cut away from most of the conspiracy and politics of the first game but at least there was still some level or conspiracy and mystery, the games are meant to be cyberpunk noir with a healthy does of AJ added on top. Maybe in a few years if they make another directors cut and it drops in price then I guess I'll get it but for now I'll pass

If Pat wasn't hung like a horse I'd wonder how he landed her.

Dramatic MGS trailer quotes from The Voice and neon landscapes with bitching synthwave music

It's chill as fuck and it's a great breather that gets you hyped for the next boss

lewd

jesus christ those are horrifying

Oh neat, I can make anything I wa-
…Then what's the point in having an infinite amount of time and money? Who cares how good the game is if it won't run on anything modern by the time it's done?

Almost every engine before UE3

...

The firearms sound like absolute shit. mp4 related, sounds like a fucking nailgun.
Firearm animations look stiff as well.

...

I beat it last week and I have to say that it is a good game. I don't find many flaws with it aside from there only being 1 hub because it did music, sneaking, multiple ways to solve a situation, gunplay, augs, mods, interaction, all pretty well.

I'm thinking people just aren't happy with it because of the gay payment method and the 1 time use DLC. But I like it and I'll recommend it to other people. Again those idiot frenchies did the franchise right and gave the fantastic series a sequel it deserves unlike ion storm.

This never happened. I did two throughways and never saw it.

That's a failure of design then. If they had wanted to make a stealth game they should have made a stealth game. "Your character isn't a nigger" is no excuse for deliberately gimping a playstyle they structured into the game.

They had the same problem with HR too, where stealth/non-lethal was the most rewarding (in terms of loot and experience) way to play.

the game ran kinda weird, no matter the settings (until high-ultra) it ran ~30 fps, after fucking about with the settings i forgot AA off.
also uploaded the wrong mp4 by accident, heres the smaller size downscaled one
the game was okay overall, nothing really memorable or that interesting, but played through it.
augs weren't really that special, never bought a single of the overclock augs and rarely used the other ones.
stores were a pain in the ass to use because the fucks want to talk to you before you get to buy.
Whole 'augs being bullied' shtick felt weird because the cops dont give a single shit if you walk up to them with a pistol or jump on their cars, even though they hadnt checked my documents.
and like other anons mentioned, the game ended pretty suddenly and the loading times were shit.
also fuck your full motion videos making the game fuckhuge, half of the time the FMV seemed unnessecary and stupid.

They replaced brown tomboy with this ratchet sow and made the plot even more nonsensical by listening to a nigger and channeling his BLM bullshit.

they also gave her face a texture like an orange

So what the fuck happened to Malik?
0/10 would not even pirate

She's DLC.:^)****

There is a nice easter egg confirming she survived. Check the cereal box in your apartment at the beginning of the game.

No, you just don't work together anymore. There's an easter egg at Adam's apartment that implies that Malik went there got in left a box of cereals (it's also implied Adam is adicted to cereals) with mini whatever that plane thing is and a note.

Yeah well I wasn't missing Mole-ik. Especially when the option came up to bang the psychiatrist and Aria in a threesome.

Fuck off and stay gone.

I have an autistic brother who listens and believes every opinion that faggot Spoony says as though that cuck is some authority on games

what the fuck. that camera shake is ass

The pandering is hard in this game. Not even in realty just a SJW nightmare to play aug jesus.

That stuff felt really odd, like it was supposed to have been playing on TVs during the game itself but they never got around to fitting it in and just dumped it in the ending instead.

I'd say its more like due to the absolute rushed ending, they had to scramble to make an ending that somewhat feels good. So they did the Eliza recaps.

What I don't get is why Jensen couldn't at least find some way to try to disguse his augs to look more human like having fake human skin, which peels off from taking damage or using certain augs that would puncture it, or something simple like a plaster to hide the Sarif Industries logo on his face. Doesn't seem much of an oppressive dystopia when you are part of a group that is supposedly being oppressed but jack fucking shit happens to you as a result of it.

day in the life story my ass. If you think that's legitimately a day in the life you need to fuck on back to Holla Forums. This was thee most forced progressive narative bullshit before Mafia 3 and Watch Dogs 2 came out and it makes me damn happy that it didn't even break even.

The only faggots I see liking this game are all virtue signally "it's shit, but muh progressivism". Same with Watch Dogs 2, same with Mafia 3.

Not only was the game bad narrative wise, where even my amateur writing skills could produce a better overall narrative, but the game play was terrible, the hub level dreadful because of muh racism, and the game overall too short.

There is almost nothing redeemable about the game which is why after 2 weeks it was entirely forgotten by even the normalfags.

Chech names like Drahomir and shieet. And this horrible russian accent. This broke imersion for me and I'm only polish.

Thinly veiled propaganda

Truly they're doing gods work. For fucks sake these new games are getting insane in their girth

its worse because she isn't actually a new character

she was in the fall, just completely different looking. they blackfaced her in MD for progressive points

Like that motherfucker Slug2_

Day in the life means low-key, relative to other DX games.
Those games are about niggers. This is about augs. The writers linking them so closely are retarded, but still, one day all these half-robot hanzers running around are going to become an issue.
So you haven't actually played a DX game right.
Normalfags don't even know the original exists so what do I give a fuck. MD nailed the level-design and aesthetics so if they can get a better writer in, the next game should be great.

what aesthetic? this game didn't have an aesthetic

no offense, but this post comes off as a shilling in lieu of this game going on sale this holiday season yet you state you felt you've been playing a point and click adventure game– which is pretty much everything it should not have been. I am not impressed overall with your post.

Just found DX:MD is on linux and that version has no denuvo. Praise o' lawd jebus

Will probably pick this up now if I can get through the rest of them.

Actually streaming it and although he's a friend he deos donate money to me when I play games that he finds entertaining. Luckily this is actually a good series he wants me to play. So don't pretend you wouldn't accept over €130 in donations to stream some gud vidya.
