How good is Monster Rancher? I have the eboots on PSP, but haven't got around to it yet.

I just hope the 3DS remakes are as good as Joker 1 and 2, because those were pretty good in and of themselves as long as you look over how the states got fucked out of the ultimate edition of 2 as well

Damn straight, user. I put countless hours in DQM2 back in the day and had the most fun with gaming last year when I decided to replay it again. I seriously only put CFW on my 3DS just for fan-translations of the 2 remakes too, and can only hope SE gets their heads outta their asses and localizes more IPs they have instead of just FF. I mean they published fucking Life is Strange in the US but refused to bring over anything DQ in what, the past 5 years? Not even counting the Heroes games.

Loved the first Joker, but I thought it missed some of the magic from DQM1&2, like damn I wanna feed them meat to join me, not smack them and watch a percentage go up, but overall it was enjoyable. I know one translation team is working on the PS1 versions of DQM1&2 which look good, will play on Vita on Adrenaline when it eventually releases.

Don't worry, they are far better. If you're a true fan then you can play without any knowledge of Japanese because they are fairly similar to the original games, minus a few confusing changes such as needing to whistle to join the circus troupe in the desert world.

The games go anywhere from good to disappointing. I haven't played them all but 2 is probably the best.

Breeding is the worst shit, don't fall for it. You're better off deleting the whole game and re-playing it with Sun than you are getting into breeding. Pokemon isn't even worth fucking battling online with because the meta is pure cancer.

Can I write a long ass bullshit review of the Denpa Men franchise as a whole? Because the series is amazing in the fact that in 4 games it simulated the entire history of video games, in all the good and bad ways.

Try Lost Kingdoms or Baten Kaitos. They involve catching monsters, but with cards. Gotcha Force has you collecting a bunch of toys in combat. Dolphin or a softmodded Wii are the way to go.

To explain further: Lost Kingdoms you build a deck of up to 30 monsters and fight in various locations. Each one labels the types of monsters in the area (Fire, Plant, Water, Earth, and Normal.) To capture a monster you have to weaken it and than throw a card to capture it. This won't erase the monster on the thrown card. Though the game is very soft by letting you keep anything in a level even after being defeated. As for Gotcha Force. You fight in either varies battles from a 1 on 1 to 3 on 1 combat. Some Gotcha Borgs can be acquired by beating it in that mission or it may need numerous Crystals to be combined into the Gotcha Borg. There was also a system that allowed multiple players to trade certain crystals and Gotcha Borgs. Haven't played Baten Kaitos, but have heard good from a few people.

i normally like the breeding. the main game was complete garbage with all the npcs having big conversations every 5 minutes.

Metal Walker is kind of similar, but not quite a monster catching game. Instead of catching monsters, you instead have a single robot that you can change into other types by changing what modules are attached to it. While you can't catch other robots, you can collect different moves they use. Lastly, instead of being a turn based rpg, it's combat has more in common with billiards. It's probably been a decade since I played it last, but I remember liking it.

Yeah I played the shit out of 2, it was actually the first videogame I purchased with my own money so it sticks out to me for more than just that reason. Honestly I just think it's Akira Toriyamas designs that really made the games jump out for me considering how he drafted a majority of the monsters.
