I didn't even think of playing it. If you want a small game try mamotte knight which they changed it's name in the west to gotta protectors for some unknown reason. It has old school music and art and very fun. You can use 3ds emulator if you don't have one.

However the stab and lifting the kid up, just to drop him down a pit seems really heartless and can be portrayed as making the kid suffer before dropping him to his death. Besides that. What's the general reception for this game? Combat didn't look Graces F or Hearts R tier but may be better than Xillia 2.

This is a pretty radical edit, not just some fade to black shit. This means Bamco US/EU got the JP devs to add that whole holy-lance-ish arte to the storyboard of this scene. Fucking hell.
How will this scene work if the JP audio is used? Clips seem to be the same but the timing will be off most likely. If setting JP audio restores the original scene that would be interesting

I did play the JP demo myself and enjoyed the characters and combat. One problem I had is that they hard lock how many attacks you can do. In Graces F, Symphonia, and Hearts R you can go all out as long as you time things well. Then again, in Graces F is was hard to tell exactly how long an enemy would stay stunned. Sometimes they can be stunned for 5 full seconds and other times they will interrupt your combos. All dependent on accuracy and weakness stacking.

Anyway the on the fly character switching (with tag in attacks), no linking/fusion bullshit that ruins co-op, and the new way of managing meter is a plus. Parry based characters are always cool in my book and I'm glad we have a fist user to play as again. And this time he look like the mage knight of the group (think Kratos/Zelos from Tales of Symphonia). The ability to slightly change the direction of attacks for more crowd control potential is also a nice touch.

This is all just demo stuff and doesn't speak for the whole game but I enjoy the combat. I hope it gets more depth as the game goes on or doesn't feel terribly unfinished like Xillia.

Granted, the Japanese version is more gory, but the American version delievered a scene that was a lot more shocking with none of the blood.

I know Japanese, have already played Berseria, and this still pisses me off like you wouldn't believe. I can't believe we're going back to 90s level censorship again. Xillia's localization replaces Agria's middle finger… with a pointing finger as if she's objecting in a Phoenix Wright game.
Xillia 2 was left alone because there was no way they could get the rating down from M considering its dark story.

It takes away most of the impact. The main image tying the scene together, the sight of him running through the kid against that huge red sun, has basically the entire concept or murder whitewashed out of it in the censored version.

It's bad enough to fuck up our idea of the characters and their motivations. It has to be changed back.

In the japanese version of P3P, the game makes a lot of notes about how hilariously underaged Ken is and the age difference between him and the Female MC. Ken even calls the Female MC a shotacon at one point, but all of this was obviously censored in P3P.

I haven't played it yet, but based on past discussions with anons here, the combat system doesn't leave me any sort of hopeful.

By all accounts, the combat is an improved version of what they used for Zestiria. No matter how many steps you take in the right direction, if you're building on a foundation of shit then the overall job will be godawful. Hell, it's got hard limits on combos. For me, even this alone is enough to call it trash.

CERO ratings are usually pretty strict. It might be worth contacting ESRB and PEGI directly to get their side of it.

PEGI 18 isn't a death sentence the way ESRB AO is, and there's no way that scene would move it to AO.

It doesn't mean the US version needs to be censored and it doesn't mean the PC release needs to be censored considering that it can be sold unrated on steam.

Plus I don't buy it for a second that one scene bumped it up to 18+ considering all the other 16+ games with just as much violence and something even worse.

Limbo has a T rating with ESRB, 14+ on Brazil and 16 on PEGI. I'm guessing that Europe is probably the cause behind this, and they don't want to fragment versions between US/Americas, Europe and the original Asia region. Doing so would probably complicate the PC version since one can get other region games more easily compared to how console regional stores work.

This fucking sucks, but oh well. They say nothing else has changed… I'm having my doubts - the dialog was probably altered somewhere. We'll see how the JP audio flows with the subtitles. Considering Hearts R left the loli skit intact I'm having a bit of hope, though

Dear Tales of Community,

We read about your concerns regarding some changes between the Japanese and the Western versions of Tales of Berseria, the next game from the Tales Of series to be released on January 27th 2017 on Playstation 4 and PC.

In the western game footage released on December 8th (youtu.be/TLbdbwjtxZ8), you discovered a scene that has been reworked compared to the original Japanese game.

As a company, Bandai Namco Entertainment has to follow the regional regulations regarding video games content to allow the games to be released with appropriate rating. The violence depicted in the original Japanese scene in Tales of Berseria would not allow us to keep our current 16 rating.

A major change in our rating wouldn’t have allowed to share the game with as many fans as we’d like and it would have prevented us many opportunities to show the game on social networks, websites and even during events.

Therefore, instead of deleting the sequence, we decided to rework a portion of the scene to keep its importance in the story.

We’ve ensured its impact in the story is the same.

Even if the exact actions are different, their consequences are exactly the same: the defining moment changing Velvet’s Story and opposing her to Arthur Collbrande, the moment it becomes a tale of emotions versus reason. We made this modification out of necessity, be sure of that.

You may have read in an interview that we had promised not to censor the game in the West. The statement applied only to the Velvet’s outfit at the time, and we did our best to keep the game as close to the Japanese version as possible.

This is the only scene which has been altered from the Japanese version of the game. Everything else is exactly the same as the Japanese version including costume designs which you will be able to see for yourself once we release the demo on January 10th.
