Zelda has better FPS on thw Switch than on the WiiU

Is anyone else in disbelief that the stand doesn't provide any extra processing power? Didn't Nintendo even file a patent relating to it? I just can't believe it. That being said, it seemed to run pretty smooth in both forms.

Not one little bit. The idea is fucking retarded actually, and trying to "add more processing power" through some kind of flimsy exposed connector bus is folly. You could shove an entire duplicate CPU in there and it wouldn't actually help at all because of the bottleneck between the switch and the stand.

Honestly I would probably not even use it with a TV, seeing as I don't even own a TV and never will. The fact that it plays like a slightly oversized handheld is fine with me, provided the stupid snap-on controllers aren't flimsy as fuck and don't jiggle around.

I'm confident it doesn't, simply because it wouldnt work with the premisse of turning into a handheld instantly when pulled from the dock. The theory of "overclocking when docked" makes much more sense, given that that's how gaming laptops already work (clocking to full capacity when conected to a power outlet), so it's not even some newer technology that nintendo had to come up with.

I really do worry about how shitty the battery is going to be in handheld mode. That's a big tablet screen running video games, it can't be more than 2-3 hours. Hell 2 hours might be pushing it.

Some leaks were of the internals, and they said the 4G version (yes, there's a 4G-capable version apparently) ran for 3.5 hours, I think.
Obviously, non-carrier version would last longer, so if the leaks are true, maybe 4 hours tops?
That's comparable to the 3DS. I play Monster Hunter for maybe 4-5 hours at a time before needing to charge, without 3D or overclocking, and this thing clearly has better processing power, so the battery must be pretty big.

Someone also said there was the choice to drop it to energy-saving mode, which put the screen on 720p instead of 1080p, so I hope that's true, as I can live with 720p if it means more hours under the blanket getting comfy.

8 hours would be fucking amazing. I'm actually moderately optimistic about the switch because I think it represents the one thing I've been wanting for YEARS: a Nintendo handheld that isn't dual-fucking-screen. The DS gimmick is done. It's played. I'm ready to move on and get back to the basics of good solid handheld gaming.

Hasn't been confirmed, but the switch is using cards just like the DS. I think it'll be unlikely though as we have heard nothing about the switch having dual or even touch screen capabilities.

Doubt it would run 3DS or DS games, but Wii and Wii U ports are a possibility.

What would be amazing, but won't happen, it the ability to use a 3DS as a 2nd screen. Just a basic touchscreen you can use in your hands, with only the bottom screen and buttons being in use. That would never happen, however.

Leaks said there was a 10-point touchscreen, but I didn't see Jimmy touch the screen, so we can't know.

Oh, and if they've actually got a 3rd Pokemon game coming to the Switch, then that would heavily indicate that you can porn 3DS games, so perhaps games that aren't too reliant on the bottom screen can have the second screen butchered and turned into an overlay.

This video from plebbit suggests otherwise. The show was recorded at 60FPS and you can clearly see that Breath of the Wild is running at 30FPS.
It remains to be seen if it will run faster when docked (or if the Switch even allows games to clock the processors at different speeds when docked or mobile), but in all likelihood Nintendo developed the game with 30FPS in mind for the Wii U, and it would have been too much effort to change that late in development.

I'd bet that at some point in late development the team was notified that a new console was coming out, and that the new specs should be the benchmark. It probably won't have the best textures or poli count the switch can provide.

Every 2D zelda, and the ds games, were 60 fps iirc. The 3D games were all 30 except for OoT and MM which were fucking 20 until the 3ds versions.
