It's going to dictate the general direction of the vidya industry one way or the other. If Overwatch becomes FPS king, expect every dev from Bungie to Streum to create their own Overmeme ripoff. Bf1 will probably lead to bigger fps levels but the status quo will be preserved. Rainbow 6 will just complement CS:GO's success and turn every shooter into 1 hit 1 kill arcade shooters (if it's not an esport shooter, it'll flop and never be made again) that aren't much as fun as other types of shooters.

To be fair R6S is a good game and the team behind it deserves the praise for fighting an uphill battle against bad marketing and a rocky launch.

Look at the actual statistics, Battlefield 1 had like 400k players on launch, it barely gets 100k now across all platforms, I would highly doubt it sold more then 2 million copies, sales would have dropped by 80% after the first few days.
