How does Sims 3 stack up to Sims 2 (which is the one I do have)?

Sims 2 has some great expansions and modding community. However, sims 3 expanded the game with an open world and townies that age in real time (making it more of a town sim than a household sim). There are debates to which one is better, but I will say with the kinkyworld mod, sims 3 has become the better of the two for porn.

Can you guys give me some advice here? I have so far only played the first sims back then and the sims 3 for a short time when it was released back then. Which one would you guys recommend? Is the latest one good?

And which of them has the best mods? I have a top 10 skyrim sex mods attached (second part coming soon) can you do similar shit in the sims? I am not talking about nude patches and boring as casual sex mods, I am talking about fucked up shit like rape mods and shit like that.

I got bored rather quickly of the sims, even with kinkyworld.
But after I finish a small project I'm gonna try adding content to KW because it's not degenerate enough.

So… I've heard a while ago that kinkyworld allow you to have catpeople and dogpeople. Do people have screen sof that?

Yeah that was supposedly added in a patreon build, so if your sim gets knocked up by a cat/dog, their offspring will be a hybrid. I'd have to search through the /hgg/ thread to find it.

Doubtful, I'm already nearing the end of my current project that I started just a day ago, so I'll spend most of the week digesting the info on the modding resources.

If your primary concern is KW you can do one of the three things: make some more anims, fix and improve upon the code since it's still rather unstable or deal with the placeholders. Tooltips, skill challenges, natural/smooth woohoo triggers, better stage transitions and the like.

I kinda doubt you're gonna do shit but hey, I've been wrong before. And ask away if you have any quick questions, I haven't touched KW but I did some work on base S3 and TSM.

If I can figure out a way to fix anything on my way, that'll be a bonus, but my main goal is to add more interactions/animations and expand into the supernatural expansion so sims can have sex magic/potions.
A major change I'd like to impose is having sims generate with a random woohoo level to actually make KW a little more fluid.

What kind of milking? Like lactation or having a mountable milking machine sims mount up to?

You could have both if you made it a skill. Start with lactation, then when the skill is high enough you can use a mountable milking machine. Sell the milk you make

I've gotten TS3 to run through wine, but haven't tried TS2.
My suggestion would be to install playonlinux, install the optimal wine version through that, and apply whatever patches are recommended on the wine appdb.

So… Installing all the expansions would make your computer blow up even if your computer has military grade hardware?

it would run it. It would just be slow with loading times and whenever you put it to 3x speed. EA can't manage memory very well.

Is island paradise really that laggy? Because building boathomes always sounds fun.

You can avoid most of the lag if you:
1. find a new map to download since the island map is laggy.
2. don't build a hotel as it lags with the more you upgrade it.

I Was thinking about making my own map to do the stuff, but not building the hotel is kind of shitty, mostly because I wanted to have a small yet living town. Or even have a relatively big map with 3 or 4 small towns like if it was a rural country.

You can try. Maybe it won't be too bad. A big map might even work out given the way the game lowers the memory count of object a certain distance away. But the population might be small for a big map.

As a side note, I'm playing a generation game that has gone on so long that none of the original town is still alive and everyone is either descendants or newly generated sims who moved in. The cop is hot as fuck (and doesn't wear underwear). Sometimes the rng gets it right.

Speaking from first hand experience here, TS3 is not only awfully unoptimized, but all the game assets are uncompressed, which takes up a heinous amount of space as well as a heinous amount of memory when it's loaded in. Then you have pathing issues with the AI, and gradual bloat from little shit that just never gets cleaned up by the game itself, like a hundred stray animals wandering around and getting stuck in corners of plots.
Some of these problems (like pathing) could have been optimized if EA went and compiled the game for 64bit systems, allowing the game to utilize more than 4gb of memory and optimizing multithreading so tasks running concurrently don't put sims in a deadlock until they figure out what to do next.
Some of the expansion packs however, are just sinfully broken, like Island paradise.

I already know how to work models, so it's a matter of learning how to import/export and add animations, skills/traits.

Why is there no proper competitor for The Sims?

I've been thinking about that recently. I would love to see a sims game that went through time. ie. start in say the wild west time and progress forward until future time. Playing with generations and seeing the town couple up and have kids is fun, but the game feels static over time. Having time gates would also be great for the semi-rpg progression they have in the sims for furniture and so on.

Start in wild west time. Horse for transport, only books for entertainment, etc. As the years and generations go by you unlock new clothes, hairstyles, furniture for the time. Eventually cars come in, new jobs become available. By the sixties tv becomes available. etc.

there was a couple attempts, but they just never went anywhere, one was supposed to be a sims clone with sex, but from what I know it never came close to depth of the sims, and the playboy mansion game was sorta in the same vein, but again it was a pretty shallow competitor.
I would honestly love to be able to produce a game that could compete, but I have only entry level-intermediate knowledge when it comes to programming. I'm convinced the only way to achieve decent performance would be construct an engine for it from the ground up.

Are people really playing Sims 3 or are they just bluffing?
Game is downright unplayable, speed-wise, loading anything takes up to 5 minutes, with the intro one being the main perpetrator, 18 minutes

If you have the right mods and have done the right tweaks to it, it's not so bad. Worst load times for me are going into create a sim. Takes about a minute to load each kind of clothing.

You can speed up CAS quite a lot by disabling color variations in the thumbnails with nraas.

Sad to think Sims 3 would be a majestic game without the horrible speed and loads

Installing the game on an SSD makes the load times better, at least the game doesn't randomly stops on its tracks anymore.

You installed too much custom content, expansions and packs. Even saved recolored clothes help to slow down your game, especially if you used textured shit. Applying rubber/whatever to t-shirts and shit.

Honestly, I had worse load times in Sims 1 back in the day because I had a real toaster of a PC. Took 20-25 minutes to load when I had my sims go on vacation or on dates downtown. So maybe I'm just used to shit loading times.

It's not just the load times, the game is junky as all fuck even without adding KW in the mix.

Weirdness with "modular stairs", weirdness with slopes of any kind, weirdness with townie duplication, objects "reserving" a spot a'lla windows that messes with the pathfinding or the shitty pathfinding in general… And that's with nraas.

This is the kind of stuff I like about The Sims. Making any kind of community that isn't dreary suburbia. I always wanted to see a Sims town that went full trailer park trash, as another example. Canadian rednecks are perfectly fine, the only difference is the brands of beer.

I wonder this a lot too. All you have to do is the same kind of thing, but be less shit than EA. All you need is a decent life simulator packaged with a good house builder. You don't have to match up all the expansion content EA churns out, you can just take the best few parts of each. And above all, it needs to be fun for players of all kinds: people who want their dollhouse, people who want to burn their dollhouse, people who only want to build fancy houses, and people who just like seeing shit happen.

I've never even played Sims 3, I've only played Sims 2. And that game is still fun; limited mechanically by comparison but at least it ran and there was still plenty you could do with it.

I really wonder if maybe the sims 3 was the the wrong game to be modding.
It's impressive visually, with having working reflections and being able to practically get eye level with sims, but I think that's all I even remembered from their advertising it back then. Just think, if EA allowed their slaves to actually focus on bug fixing and optimization instead of cranking out broken expansion packs, TS3 could be been the best sims game. Instead, they re-released TS3 as TS4 with the impressive visuals cut out, and the open world removed, and some of even the base game content.

And the bad part is that we have to wait until 2019 for the next one

I think for as much as people complain about sim 4 going more cartoony, I think you need to for something like the sims. Either get black desert onlines character creation, or you'll get ugly uncanny valley characters like that pic.
