Crafting should also make sense in terms of lore. In Andromeda instead of finding random ores on the planet and collecting them like it's fucking Minecraft make the pathfinder actually find shit on planets, like ore deposits and veins, which they can mark for the fleet to send excavators towards, after which they gain access to resources and the items created using them.

Basically every alien is a reskin. The Asari are probably the only ones with diverse character models, all the Krogan, Turians and Salarians look identical.

You know what might have made the gameplay fun? If the enemies had the same abilities you had. Imagine you are shooting an enemy, and he plucks a shield, so you teleport to a higher platform, to shot him from a different angle, but he also does that, and now he is behind you, but you squadmate shoots him, before he can shoot you. of course that would require some amount of effort. It's much easier if they put bullet sponges as enemies.

Where is the player's team? One of the better things about ME was having AI companions you could direct in combat.

I think nearly 10 years ago bioshock did a bunch of mocap work for the original mass effect when microsoft was helping fund it, retooled some of it for dragon age origins, and have been recycling it since then. It's not that, it's rather that crafting makes for very, very good padding. You can essentially have half the armor\weapons in the game gated behind the crafting and now instead of making multiple unique places where you find those items or a longer game with them strewn around, they can instead plaster resources all over the game and even use them to make players visit some locations they wouldn't go to otherwise.

It's a mechanism to extend the gameplay in an easier way as long as you balance when you get the crafting schematics.
It's really not that different from "old game is hard to get the most playtime\quarters out of you"

Protheans came close but humans were just right so the ending was either kill the reapers and try to find a cure for dark energy (hinted at as impossible technologically so humanity would live free for a few more hundreds of years then die) or sacrifice humanity to save the universe.

Those who chose to stay ugly, to retain their individuality were portrayed as heroic rebels. They're generally pretty good episodes. Twilight Zone flipped this on it's head, and Black Mirror had an episode recently that mixed it up with social presence/social media portrayal. Even Brave New World had shades of it as part of the backdrop to the setting (with the whole tiering of Alphas, Betas, and Gammas, Deltas, etc being genetically engineered for different roles in society)

It's such an easy and powerful narrative tool to make interesting.

How the fuck does Bioware fuck it up so badly by just shoving ugly people into an idealized fantasy - in a setting where ugliness shouldn't exist - and gloss over any kind of reasoning or narrative for why it still exists.
