Multiplayer Games Are Shit

Why do multiplayer games have the fucking WORST community? I remember when you'd be playing 1.6 with a group of guys and we'd all be having a good time and laughing our asses off at shit, now everyone is so senile and psychopathic, it's to the point where leveling up and loot are more important than human life.

Can somebody please explain this?

More children and third-worlders are online playing games now.

It became mainstream.

God fucking damnit I just got kicked off of a source server for saying that black people have an average iq of 80, some guy bragging that he fucked a black girl and I told him that he fucked a medically diagnosed retard and I got kicked for that, what the FUCKCKCKCKC

Rushton & Jensen 2005

Reminds me of my experience with Runescape. It went from being a nice community where people went out of their way to help each other to a horde of psychopaths that only care about grinding.

It's because you grew up

People at your current age thought the same of you when you were playing 1.6

games are serious business now.

People in the 2000's and 90's decades took the internet and also multiplayer video games a lot less seriously the new 10's take everything super seriously because they are faggots.

Maybe you shouldn't play games for kids and play a game for real men. Like 100% orange juice

No more dedicated servers.

...

If it wasn't real life, I'd assume it was some shitty movie.

This is the best answer you're going to get.

They became more accessable to idiots and children. These people use the internet without learning the difference between how people act online and offline and have warped them into what you see today.

I think each community becomes toxic in order to protect itself from outsiders but then poe's law takes over.

...

I wish someone would nuke Brazil off the face of the Earth. That would take care of about 90% of all the problems people encounter in multiplayer.

Mute. What I don't get is why so many players are trying to communicate in games that don't require communication? Everyone once in a awhile, I encounter a moron screeching into his mic, basically talking to himself.

Ouch but its kinda true. Awful lot of Brazilians playing video. I hate them mostly because they lag is unbearable.

Lag I can live with, it's the simple fact they (and most other spics) can't play.

I don't know if it's something in their shit culture, or their nigger tier IQ, that makes them such shit players, but I've yet to find another ethnicity so fucking bad when it comes to games. They're too dumb to understand how to play, don't know about basic gameplay mechanics and controls, routinely do the exact opposite of what the team agreed upon and are a general nuisance.

Why are you calling games shit, while it's players that get on your nerves? Is there a connection beyond the F2P games lacking the paywall to repulse bottom feeders?

Mother fuckers scream about how the old people voting are gonna die and not have to live with the consequences of their votes and then have the gall to not vote.

I can't tell you how many people I know are just baffled by how I talk to them online.
It's not like I'm sending them NIGGER in all caps over and over again, but they react with abject horror or bewilderment when I say something that some of my other friends wouldn't even bat an eye at.

thats not how it works you little shit

Nah. MP gamers were retarded back then and they are retarded now. It's because, like it or not, the average person is not very smart. Consider a normal Holla Forums user and how stupid he acts all the time, then go down a couple of dozen IQ points to get to the average person.

I remember playing in computer clubs and older people fighting over their favourite diablo hero.
I remember killing a guy with a shotgun and him going berserk, running around the club and looking for me to beat me up, because the shotgun was his favourite weapon.
That was 16 years ago.

Maybe you just found a good group and kept the memories from it. People were shit then and people are shit now.

This is why I only play multiplayer games with smaller and tighter communities and co-op games with friends.

This one.

And this one too. Nostalgia hits hard, and silently. We tend to keep only the good memories. It happens with classmates, ex-lovers, places, buildings, books, videogames and anything which was experienced in your past.

We also stick good feelings together. Maybe that first Game Boy wasn't so great, and what you remember so fondly about it was that care-free summer in which you got it.

Just saying. Enjoy the present, and let the past be past.

don't play online multiplayer. It's for the dumbest people. Only idiots play those games. Local multiplayer games are great. Play twinkle star sprites with friends.

I have had some pretty awful encounters from Brazilian players. But not all of them are complete shit at video. I've met some good players too.

Because normalfags didn't exist on the internet before goybook or jewtube so they think they need to be the moral white knight of the internet stopping all those who dare say nigger, faggot, spic, etc. on online games.

I seriously hate servers that autoban for that shit, it's autism at its finest.

Of course they existed before Facebook. ICQ, MySpace and god knows what sort of awful AOL Usergroups were all breeding grounds for normalfaggotry. MP vidya has always been dominated by teenage faggots, too.

>team based TPS on console

...

why do people hate video games

You can still find great communities you just have to avoid games that are popular with kids and dudebros.
I recommend ARMA, RO2, Insurgency and Squad.

Just wait a while. Soon enough he'll get bored at the idea of multiplayer.
I've played about 2000 hours of Dota 2, and haven't played a single game of it in about 3-4 months, and I feel pretty fucking great.
The only time I really want to play a multiplayer game now is if it's coop with friends or a fighting game.

It seemed eerily reminiscent of Splatoon's Multiplayer, just Splatoon didn't have Voice Chat. Which was possibly a blessing and a curse because instead of arguing with your retarded team you end up carrying them silently instead.

That said, it would have been megalulz trolling screechy Japanese kids on it.

You have autism and can't focus on just playing a game.

I hate to use the term 'toxic', but that's what it became.

When I play a game, I want to be able to say 'gg' and fucking mean it. Instead, everyone's oversensitive asshole can't learn to take a comment without adding their own layer of sarcasm to it. Not everything's a jab at you or your team, despite what your inner cynic might say.

When's the last time you had a legitimate comment complementing your play? When did you last read "shit, nice shot, wp" after landing a cracking AWP shot or "Holy hell, that player carried so hard" when you saw that player ripping the entire team apart?

Now maybe I'm a radical thinker here, but whenever I play games, when I say something, I mean it. I'm there on voice comms, I complement my team, I give info, I never point fingers at failed plays, and I try my hardest to keep my team on point to win, and it shows. My win rate in most games is above average, and I get to see people open up and have fun games, because there's less tension and people communicate without that layer of cynicism that sticks to everything.

It's not for everyone, sure. Some people won't break out of that shell, or won't be successful making others do it (for reasons from shyness to language barriers), but for what I put into it, I get a lot more out of the games I play as a result.

The vast majority of people in the world are shitters. You are one of them. See

Most of it is the difference in technology.
Matchmaking destroyed servers as communities. Even if you didn't know anyone on the server and played against total strangers all the time, you felt a sense of community if you played on it long enough.
Ranking destroyed civility and playing for fun. Now that there's consequences for losing, you get a serious game with all the good and bad that entails. It's mostly bad. Butthurt does some terrible things to your brain.

they did go out and vote though, you know clinton got the most votes right? some votes matter more than others and trump won where it mattered most

Yesterday in Xonotic and normally I'm just spectating.

Want to add to this, one major thing I noticed leaving wc3 dota to valves dota 2 is no one* and I mean absolutely fucking no one would say GL HF at the start of matches.

only people that would say it you could tell played wc3 since they kept referring to old items names and such

Is that an ass on the bottom? Source?

It's because gaming has become more about ease of access, which lowers the emphasis on community. Just compare CS 1.6 (or CSS) to CS:GO.

In CS1.6, people would find home servers to jump on. People would start to become familiar with each other. Rivalries would form. In jokes would pop up. Everyone knew who was friendly, who was probably cheating, who was a beast, and who was a butthurt cunt. If someone acted like a total faggot, everyone would gang up on them and call them out on their shit. Now, it's getting thrown into a group of random people, most of whom you'll only ever play with once. There is next to no social structure, so the loudest, gayest niggers always get heard and most people just either bow out and mute or respond with even louder faggotry. Small, tight nit communities that hang out on vent and talk shit in between games still exist, but you generally have to know someone in one to get invited and it can take a long time for people to see you as an insider. Other than that, the multiplayer world is basically a giant walmart.

It's been that way since integrated voice chat in games.

Pretty good.

Nevermind, found out it's from some faggot porn.

decent communities died when matchmaking became common. Back when you had to connect to a server manually, pick a favorite one and not be an asshole to keep from getting b&, people emphasized fun and friendliness. With matchmaking, you're never going to meet these people again and none of them can ban you, so it doesn't matter if you're a dickwaffle to people.
Pretty much all dedicated servers are weird gimmicky bullshit servers too. It's a real shame.

Play more obscure games that are harder to get into.

same thing happend to the communities for servers in wow when dungeon finder got released. hell my mates and i would intentionally fuck groups up cus itd be 4 of us one random. no consequences to being absolute cunts

Other players have always been the worst part about multiplayer games. Now there are more of them, and they're all indoctrinated by Twitter and Facebook hugboxes. The only chance you have to enjoy a multiplayer game is something pretty niche and under the radar of normalfags.

Not just that but shit like COD making the basic act of casual about getting any small kill for that small boost to that next level for an unlock.

When it isn't about rank, it's about unlocks.
This fucks it up, since now the game isn't about the game.

My last game in WoWs. There's even a useless feature for compliments.

She got less when you take away the dead people and illegal spic votes.

The multiplayer community that I used to love was mostly 30-50yros. Teenagers, college students, and kids were around but by far the minority. My guild leader was even an 80 yro woman. Those were the days.

Why did John Stumme have to kill Guild Wars?

I'm to guess it's years of slavs, spics and general asshats screaming at the top of their lungs and never taking responsibility for fucking up. Eventually it culminated into a general idea of the community that everyone is a shithead, so they either don't bother with good sportsmanship or turn into shitheads themselves. It also doesn't help that the game can be infuriating as all hell.

help

Games tried to make themselves important.

With even false importance comes a yearning to be the absolute best due to seeking a seat with such superficial feelings. Everybody's life sucks because life is real shit right now. Most people don't play video games to have fun, they play video games to take out their insurmountable rage against their fellow man. If not for video games there would probably be 10% more violent crimes or so across America alone.

Honestly I'm fuckin dying for a fun, tactical shooter that rewards you for using interesting loot/gear combinations…

bullshit

sell all your skins uninstall
get freed
haven't touched dota 2 or any assfaggot in 6 months now

Why…no HOW can you play that game so long?

How do you not get bored?

I just don't understand. MOBAs are the most boring game imaginable and they're so fucking popular. Hell, even small time developers are trying to copy the general "feel" of MOBAs by making a fuckload of shitty top-down games now.

gives me conniptions

I played hon for pretty much over 4 thousand matches since its beta up for 2 1/2 years of its time but saw it was dying and once they stop the ip blocking since it was dying I went to dota 2 knowing it would be around for years to come and just only put over 1000 hours into it before giving that up.
of course after a few years of off and on of dota 2 i got fed up with genre and gave it up for good.
for me it basically filled the sense of a pvp of an mmo since no mmo has manage to fucking do pvp right. gw1 pvp was amazing but its basically a dead game.

I know. I was playing Overwatch in a party with some guy. He started raging about loot boxes or something in mic chat like a retard. It was fucking insane. I don't think the "Everyone's a winner" culture is helping either.

Help me empathize, here. I don't have the scope of what's even multiplayer-viable. Consoles have a small set I'd be wiling to look into (BL2 with friends, some random shooter if I feel like putting up with pub lottery).

What are you all playing? Console and PC-wise? Not judging, just seriously don't know.

Oscillating digits speaks the truth. It's the GIFT through and through. When there are absolutely no consequences, people are dicks. It's also why people think it's acceptable to use just be cheesy dicks and spam OP shit constantly. Who cares because there is no server to run everyone off of, you can happily matchmake along to new people with the intent of spoiling any opportunity of fun.

At least I'm not you, I have 700 hours in the game. I feel like going back somewhat, although I have been playing EVE Online and Insurgency.

To be fair, i've been playing the game since 2012. Not much of an excuse, but it could be worse I guess. In terms of boredom, I play it just to pass time which it does really well with it's hour long games. Depression doesn't help matters either.

Insurgency if you are into shooters, guns feel great and every kill I get with muh FAL is a thrill. If you like spreadsheet autism MMOs then EVE online has a good community and recently went f2p.

f2p EVE is a HUGE understatement though.

It's literally "Pay to do anything" instead of free to play. I might just be saying this as I have a moderately older account at a few mil SP but I'm literally stuck in the hangar as all my ships cannot be accessed due to skill blocking.

Humanity has declined.

Sell some of those ships and get PLEX so you can make good money with good ships'

I'd just rather pay a sub fee than deal with EVEonomics. Even if my colonies make me enough money to not have to worry about it.

What usually happens when something only available to a select community of "experts" is opened to the public at large without gating or intent to assimilate.

Tacticool autism games aren't too bad, like PR, Arma, and Squad mainly because a lot of ex-military/current military play that shit and are older than 16. But yea it's mostly just total fucking garbage.

Two routes right now.

For newbies it's awesome. You get a good, direct path and upgrade route and it's all free. It's actually a great way to get started. The industry is lacking as well as the exploration side and you're kicked out of some nice things by default (such as larger ships) but hey it's free skilling.

For advanced players it's a drag. You basically get turned into an NPC. Your skills, if trained high, are lowered. You are only allowed to use faction t1. It's just a huge dent to everything you do and is insanely obnoxious to see so much shit of yours outlined in yellow.

because they involve other people what the fuck do you want me to tell you?
