On the subject of web based browser games I recently came across one called Kingdom of Loathing. It's pretty fun combat is simple, although apparently you can play with others, though I haven't tried that yet. It has a system that limits how much you can do each day, you can do more by eating/drinking alchohol, but it generally results in you playing it casually rather than catassing, there isn't a way to bypass it by paying. It has a goddamn mental amount of content, if you find games like this ok I suggest giving it a try.
